This half of the Rotary year is only a few weeks away when we will have a break for Christmas and New Year. We have some activities before the end of the year, a vocational visit, a training Seminar and a social activity amongst other things.
Any members who wish to order Rotary Christmas cakes should advise what they would like to order by the meeting Monday night as the order will be placed with the Rotary Club of Cunderdin on Tuesday.
The Foundation grants qualifying seminar is taking place on Sunday 16 November. All members are encouraged to attend. If you are able to come along please let me know ASAP. I'm sorry I have not been advised venue or times yet, but as soon as I do I will advise all members.
Monday 17 November is the vocational visit to the Kalgoorlie cemetery. Due to the cemetery having to be locked at dusk the visit will commence at 5 pm. It is hoped members have enough notice that they will be able to plan their day to be there for 5pm. Ross has an attendance sheet so please advise him if you will be attending at the cemetery. If it is not
possible, but you will be able to come to the Tower for dinner please let Ross know. Cemetery board members and staff will join us for dinner so there will be an opportunity for members to ask questions. Hannans and Boulder members have been invited to join us.
District conference in 2015 will take place in Albany on 20-22 March next year. Now is the time to start planning to attend. Check the District website for details. .
Enjoy the rest of your week as you Light up Rotary.

District Events to Attend
The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.
The Rotary Foundation helps fund our humanitarian activities, from local service projects to global initiatives. Your club or district can apply for grants from the Foundation to invest in projects and provide scholarships. The Foundation also leads the charge on worldwide Rotary campaigns such as eradicating polio and promoting peace. Rotarians and friends of Rotary support the Foundation’s work through voluntary contributions.
LEADERSHIP
The Board of Trustees manages the business of the Foundation, led by the trustee chair. The Rotary International president-elect nominates the trustees, who are elected by the Rotary International Board of Directors. The trustee chair serves for one year and trustees serve for four years.

TRUSTEE CHAIR'S MESSAGE
John Kenny
Trustee Chair 2014-15
October 2014
In each of my monthly messages, I have endeavored to highlight one individual Rotary Foundation goal for 2014-15.
This month, I wish to speak about the new grant structure and the reasons for its introduction. The Foundation Trustees identified a number of growing needs to improve efficiency, to streamline operations, and to focus efforts so as to achieve greater impact and public recognition.
Prior to Future Vision, the Foundation was processing over 4,000 grants per year, and the average humanitarian grant was US$12,500. With many of the grants smaller than this figure, the cost to administer the grants was increasing at a significant rate, and we needed more staff to process the growing number of applications.
In addition to striving for improved efficiency, the Trustees aimed for greater simplicity and a more streamlined process. The Rotary Foundation had 12 different programs, each with its own requirements and application procedures, to support educational and humanitarian objectives. We now have only two grant types: district grants and global grants.
By simplifying the process, the Trustees hope to enable Rotarians to reach a greater number of people to do good in the world; to provide a more efficient grants-making system, awarding fewer grants and large amounts at a reduced operational cost; and to give clubs and districts more ownership over the grant process.
I urge you to ensure the progress of our new grant structure through your continued participation in our educational and humanitarian projects.

Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do
Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER
FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

course of human life. It changes the life
of every Rotary beneficiary, as well as
