Welcome to Halloumi Paradise, the Flagship of Cyprus Authentic CuisineHello ladies and gentlemen, I would like to take you back to the beginning where this global icon, Halloumi cheese began from its humble

beginnings the story begins...Halloumi cheese originated from Cyprus and was initially made during the Medieval Byzantine times and quickly gained popularity

throughout the rest of the Middle East region, moving on to Western Europe such as Germany, France and England and further into Australia, America, China as well as West and East Africa, making Halloumi cheese one of the most important commodities to come out of Cyprus. Halloumi was known in Cyprus well before the invasion of the Ottoman Turks in 1571. It began with the name Caloumi. By the early 1930s Halloumi was being made by many people in the Cypriot community. Every family had their own animal to produce a small

amount of milk and for this reason neighbours would share their milk in order so that the amount of milk would be enough for everyone to produce Halloumi, it also gave the community social cohesion and solidarity amongst families and constituted an opportunity to socialise with each other and make friends.

By the early 1940s permission was given for Halloumi to be produced as a manufactured product and many people from all over Cyprus had surnames like Halloumas Hallouma Halloumakis Halloumis showing that these families were involved in the making of Haloumi. I believe Halloumi is not just a product of Cyprus but constitutes part of the cultural heritage and its traditional rural way of life and characterises even today the villages all over Cyprus. And for this reason...

Halloumi has to go alongside Aphrodite the Godess of Love as an icon of Cyprus. pi , pi pi pi.

Having as our main concern the promotion of Cyprus, its culture and traditions and the promotion of the natural and forgotten beauty of our island we established a collaboration with the papers of diaspora in order to support their valuable work which is none other than supporting and keeping alive our rich cultural heritage to the worlds Hellenism.
