Folk Culture" is a broad term covering a wide variety of activities that have formed the Cypriot traditions character and identity. Specifically, one may refer to the material and immaterial culture based on accounts that have survived to this day. Folk culture includes a variety of activities: traditional dance and folk music, embroidery, textile and silk production, architecture, woodcarving, basket weaving, pottery making, folk poetry, and silversmithing). All the above comprise the core of Cypriot tradition and bear testimony of the inner world and character of the Cypriot people. One may witness some of the aforementioned arts across the island since they have become part of our everyday life and living tradition, and its what keeps the spirit in our hearts alive.

Round & Round I
Evrychou, is a picturesque village of the Nicosia district, and it is about 50 km from the capital and 30 km from Troodos mountains. The river Klarios or Karkotis which crosses the village gives Evrychou a wonderful climate that makes the village an enchanting destination for everyone, both in winter and summer. It is the main village in the wider region of Solia and since the ancient times Evrychou plays an important role in the wider area.In Evrychou one can visit the Church of Saint George built in 1886 a church that is famous for its hagiographies. Moreover one can visit the church of saint Marina built in 1872 which can be found in the center of the village. Worth mentioning is the chapel of Osios Kyriakos, a local saint. The church has a wooden basilica which ages more than 500 years and also hagiographies that date back to the 16th or 15th century. Visit Evrychou and get to know the history of this village. Lastly another must see is the Milos of Stilis built in 1878, which functioned as flour mill and the Cyprus Government Railway, which operated for 46 years in the village and was associated with major events of the modern history of Cyprus. It is undutful that Evrychou is the jewel of Solia area, a village that perfectly combines the present and the glorious past.
In Evrichou village Mr Demetris from Thesaloniki along with his wife Mrs Agni make soaps and creams based on virgin olive oil of their own production. The couple also makes products enriched with fruits, vegetables, herbs essential oils, lavender, honey, rose oil, almond oil and Shea butter which are widely known for their beneficial qualities. One can visit the couple in Evrichou village or in their shop in Nicosia , have a chat with them, consult them and learn from firsthand about the many beneficial qualities of their products.

Mr Loizos from a young age was fascinated by nature,
and after working for several years in the fam-ily fields, he decided to open his own busi-ness on November 20th 1982 in Evrichou village. The need for a butchers shop in the
village but also his love for his community led
him to open a shop and become the villages butcher.
Since then his butcher shop became famous all over world for the
excellent quality of products ,delicious taste and the careful selection of local meats. In 1990 the butchers shop be-came even more famous since Mr Louis started producing deli products such as wine sausages, pastourmas , wine lount-za, and of course Shieftalies all made with pure ingredients care and love. Mr Loizos butcher shop is a real treasure for Evrichou village and for the Cypriot market.
