B ENEFITS OF B ANANA MILK SHAKE

y Bananas are a great f ood f or all round healt h bene f its. For the average person, dieter

or even athletes, bananas may provide greater bene f its than most f ruits. The

combination of carbo hydrates and B vitamins present in a banana helps provide an energy boost.

y This f ruit comes in yellow, green, and red varieties and has been proven to have a

number of medi cinal bene f its:

y Boost of Energy: At only about 100 calories, bananas will give you a natural boost of

energy. They contain sucrose, f ructose, and glucose which will give you an instant

and sustainable amount of energy. Athletes eat bananas f requently f or this reason. A

good way to start the day is to slice up a banana and add it to your whole grain cereal.

y Dysentery: Mas hed banana toget her with little salt is a very valuable remedy f or

dysentery. Ripe bananas are also very use f ul in dysentery of ch ildren, but they should

be thoroug hly mas hed and beaten to cream bef ore use in these cases.

y Intestinal Disorder: The banana is used as a dietary f ood against intestinal disorders

because of its sof t texture and blandness. It is the only raw f ruit which c an be eaten

without distress in chroni c ulcer cases. It neutralizes the over-a cidity of the gastri c

juices and redu ces the irritation of the ulcer by coating the lining of the stoma ch. Ripe

banana are highly bene f icial in the treatment of ulcerative colitis. Being bland,

smoot h, easily digestible and slig htly laxative, they relieve acute symptoms and

    promote the healing pro cess.

y Constipation and Diarr hoea: Bananas are of great value in constipation and diarr hea

as they normalize coloni c f unctions in the large intestine to absorb large amounts of

water f or proper bowel moments. Their use f ulness in constipation is due to their

richness in pectin, which is water-absorbent and this gives them a bulk produ cing

ability. They also possess the ability to change the ba cteria in the intestines f rom the

harm f ul type of ba cilli to the bene f icial acidop hilus ba cilli.

y Cure a Hangover: A great remedy f or a hangover is a banana milks hake with honey.

The banana soot hes your stoma ch. Along wit h the milk, it rehydrates your system.

The honey also comf orts your stoma ch and brings your depleted levels of blood sugar

and potassium ba ck to normal.

y Helps Quit Smoking: The combination of magnesium, potassium, vitamins A1, B6,

B12, and Vitamin C help the body with nicotine withdrawal.

y Redu ced Risk of Stroke: Bananas are an extremely good sour ce of potassium and low

in salt. Potassium is important f or the body as it helps keep the body f luids and

electrolyte balan ce in body cells and helps in regulating blood pressure, thereby redu cing the risk of h eart atta cks and strokes. Resear ch h as shown that regular intake

of bananas can redu ce the risk of stroke by 40%. A medium-size banana contains at

    least 450 mg of potassium.

y Improve Your Mood: Banana contain tryptop han, an essential amino acid that is

responsible f or serotonin produ ction. Serotonin is a hormone that is known to improve

your mood and redu ce stress.

y Keeps You Alert: It's widely known that bananas help improve brain f unction. Once

again, it's a good idea to add a banana to your break f ast bef ore you start the day. y Anaemia: Being high in iron content, bananas are bene f icial in the treatment of

anaemia. They stimulate the produ ction of haemoglobin in the blood.

y Allergies: The f ruit is very use f ul f or those who are allergi c to certain f oods and who

suff er in consequen ce f rom skin ras hes or digestive disorders or ast hma. Unlike other

protein f oods, many of which c ontain an amino-a cid which these persons cannot

tolerate and which c auses allergy. Bananas contain only benign amino-a cids which in

most cases are not allergi c. The f ruit, however, does cause allergi c rea ctions in certain

sensitive persons and they should avoid it.

y Kidney Disorders: Bananas are valuable in kidney disorders because of their low

protein and salt content and high carbo hydrate content. They are use f ul in uremia, a

toxi c condition of the blood die to kidney congestion and dys f unction. In such c ases, a

diet of bananas should only be taken f or three to f our days, consuming eight to nine

bananas a day. This diet is suitable f or all kidney troubles, including nephritis.

y Menstrual Disorders: Cooked banana f lower eaten with curd is considered an

eff ective medi cine f or menstrual disorders like pain f ul menstruation and excessive

bleeding. Banana f lower helps increase progesterone hormone which redu ces the

    bleeding.

y Urinary Disorders: Juice f rom banana stem is a well-known remedy f or urinary

disorders. It improves the f unctional eff iciency of kidney and liver thereby alleviating

the discomf orts and diseased condition in them. It clears the excretion organs in the

abdominal region of toxins and helps to eliminate them in the f orm of urine. It has

    9/21

been f ound to be of great help in the treatment f or the removal of stones in the kidney,

gall bladder, and prostate. It is advisable to mix this juice whenever possible with the

juice of ash pumpkin (pet ha).

y Over-weig ht: A diet consisting of bananas and skimmed milk is considered an

eff ective remedy f or weig ht redu ction.
