Stewardship Note: The creation story reminds us of two important points. First, since the start, God has put the entire world into our care. Second, stew-ardship has been around since the beginning of mankind, it isn’t something recently invented by the Church. Just as past generations built our Church, it is now our responsibility to continue to nurture and develop these gifts for future generations.

Unrealistic idealism is as sure a path to failure as unbridled pessimism. When we expect too much, or expect nothing at all, we end up in the same place—disappointed. Life is full of twists and turns, ups and downs, successes and failures. It takes a positive attitude, realistic expectations and a lot of love to live life well. Jesus offers a new teaching on marriage, confronting the accepted traditions. A man could divorce his wife for whatever reason and she had no say. In this male dominated society, a woman had no rights at all. Jesus speaks against divorce not only because the two are one, but also because God is the author of their union. It is a vocation for both the man and the woman and they have equal rights within their marriage. Marriage is often seen in secular terms and the idea that God is somehow part of the process gets lost in the midst of florists, gowns and menu options. It can be difficult to hear God’s call, to look for the spiritual bonds that create the union between a man and a woman. God does not call us to failure and we need to nurture and protect the bond of love that joins us together. With a positive attitude, realistic expectations, and more than a few prayers, may all marriages celebrate many happy years together!

VOTIVE MASS AND NOVENA TO ST. JOSEPH
Please make an effort this Wednesday, October 10, to attend devotions to our Patron Saint at the 7 p.m Mass. St. Joseph is a patron saint of so many people who have a variety of needs, patron of fathers, good provider, patron of dying, patron of difficult situations and family life, and for those who are searching for employment.
We have a great opportunity every Wednesday to encounter his powerful intercessions in our various needs. This week St. Anne Society will carry the statue into the sanctuary.
PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL
The Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel began with Leo XIII in 1886, when Leo had a vision after Mass of the great damage Satan would do to the Church and the world in the 20th century. The pope composed the prayer in response and added it to the Leonine Prayers to be said after Low Mass, which originally had the intentions of the defense of the Holy See’s sovereignty. In 1994, Pope John Paul II said, “Although this prayer is no longer recited at the end of Mass, I ask everyone not to forget it and to recite it to obtain help in the battle against the forces of darkness and against the spirit of this world." Given the current crisis in which the Church finds itself today, it is fitting that we the faithful resume the custom of reciting the prayer after all Masses. After certain Masses, we will recite this prayer as a community. For the times we will not, parishioners are strongly encouraged to recite the prayer privately.
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEM IN CHURCH We again extend our deepest gratitude to the many parishioners who continue to support the basilica’s HVAC system: Jean Duclos (in memory of Patrick Bembenek), Mr and Mrs Robert Wojnowski, Ms Magdalena Kukielko, Mrs Barbara Kryger, Mr and Mrs Richard Skrocki. Total cost of the system is $27,898.40. This week we collected $350, which brings the total collected to $14,900. May God Bless you for supporting the basilica.
ST, JOSEPH WOMEN’S CLUB Monthly Meeting—St. Joseph Women’s Club monthly meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 9, at 7pm. For those who wish to tour the new gym and parish center, please meet at 6:30 at the gym. Hostesses for the evening are Marie Adams and Nicole El-dred. Induction of new members will take place. Our program for the evening is called Flower Therapy presented by Ashley Starzec. Dues are payable at this time. OCTOBER—ROSARY MONTH The month of October is traditionally the Month of the Rosary. We will have a rosary devotion every day during the month of October: Weekdays at 7pm (bilingual), Saturdays at 3:30pm before the 4pm Mass (English), and Sundays after the 11am Mass (Polish). This is a great opportunity for our parish family to begin saying the rosary not only in church but also at home. Our Blessed Mother requested in her apparitions in Fatima to say the rosary for the intention of world peace. We need prayer for peace in the world and in our families. Let’s begin now, as October is a perfect opportunity.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION There will be no religious education classes on Mon. October 8th.
CANDLELIGHT PROCESSION This Saturday, October 13, at 7pm is the
final service of the year honoring Our Lady of Fatima. We kindly request that the Chil-dren of Mary take part in this beautiful trib-ute to our Lady wearing their distinctive dress as they carry the statue of our Blessed Mother. We ask all the faithful to join our school children, members of parish organi-zations and ministries and altar servers in praying the rosary.

Dzisiejsza Liturgia Słowa dotyka podstawowej prawdy o małżeństwie i rodzinie. Lekcja Starotestamentalna sięga do stworzenia człowieka i namacalnym ukazaniem prawdy „jednego ciała” w rozumieniu wspólnoty małżeńskiej. Wieki później Faryzeusze, oczywiście podpuszczając Jezusa, relatywizują tą podstawową prawdę ludzkiego
istnienia. Jezus jednak nie doszukuje się prawnych kruczków, wyjątków, tylko powtarza słowa Księgi Rodzaju. Dzisiaj, dwa tysiące lat później, współczesny świat znów stara się zrelatywizować prawdę o świętości Małżeństwa i jego nierozerwalności. Kultura wychowuje nas w egoistycznej chęci zaspokajania własnego ego, co stoi w absolutnej sprzeczności z chrześcijańskim obrazem związku kobiety i mężczyzny. Kultura masowa nierzadko wręcz ośmiesza wartość rodziny, przedkładając nad nią chwilowe przyjemności. Jednak taka droga prowadzi do nikąd. „Jedno ciało” o której mowa w dzisiejszej Liturgii Słowa to nie tylko wspólne nazwisko, dom czy bliskość, ale przede wszystkim odpowiedzialność i umiejętność codziennego ofiarowywania siebie drugiej osobie—i nie zastąpią tego żadne chwilowe mody, które z czasem przeminą. Bądźmy zatem prawdziwie jednym ciałem w naszych domach, rodzinach, każdego dnia.

„Ulepiwszy z gleby wszelkie zwierzęta lądowe i wszelkie ptaki podniebne, Pan Bóg przyprowadził je do mężczyzny, aby przekonać się, jak on je nazwie. Każde jednak zwierzę, które określił mężczyzna, otrzymało nazwę „istota żywa”.

NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA Jak w każdą środę, zapraszamy do celebrowania Mszy świętej i nowenny ku czci św. Józefa, połączonej z różańcem, z racji miesiąca października. Św. Józef jest patronem dla ludzi wie lu profes j i czy sta tusu życiowego. Jest on także patronem
rodzin. Zaczytując się w dzisiejszą Liturgię Słowa, chciejmy w sposób szczególny polecać opiece Patrona naszej Bazyliki wszystkie nasze rodziny, aby były prawdziwym, świętym przykładem chrześcijańskiej wspólnoty i miłości, w której centrum jest sam Chrystus. Niech św. Józef opiekuje się naszymi rodzinami tak, jak opiekował się małym Jezusem.

Dzisiejsza druga kolekta jest przeznaczona na pokrycie wyższych kosztów utrzymania i energii. Druga kolekta w przyszłym tygodniu przeznaczona będzie na Zobowiązania Diecezjalne.
19th ANNUAL ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL GOLF TOURNAMENT The 19th Annual St. Joseph School Golf Tournament was held on Saturday, September 29th at Dudley Hill Golf Club. It was a beautiful day for golf and a great day for the St. Joseph School Athletic Program! Thanks to our generous sponsors, golfers, and volunteers, we raised over $8,000 for the program.

NABOŻEŃSTWA RÓŻAŃCOWE Zapraszamy do włączenia się we wspólną modlitwę różań-cową w ramach nabożeństw październikowych, jakie cele-browane są od poniedziałku do piątku o godzinie 7:00 wiec-zorem (dwujęzyczne), w soboty o 3:30 po południu (w języku angielskim) oraz w niedzielę po Mszy o godzinie 11:00 (w języku polskim). Różaniec uchodzi za jedną z najpotężniejszych modlitw Kościoła. Była to też ukochana forma modlitwy Papieża - Po-laka. Włączmy się w tą modlitwę, chcąc wyprosić łaski dla nas, naszych bliskich i całej naszej Wspólnoty Parafialnej.
RELIGIA W najbliższy poniedziałek, tj. 8 października nie będzie zajęć katechetycznych oraz spotkania kandydatów do bierzmowania.
CELEBROWANIE KAPŁAŃSTWA Jesteśmy zaproszeni do udziału w gali Tastes of the Diocese 2018, która odbędzie się w czwartek, 18 października w godzinach od 5:30 do 7:30 pm w atrium szpitala św. Wincenta w Worcester. Gala ta jest wyrazem wdzięczności za posługę dla księży diecezjal-nych jednocześnie okazją do wsparcia tych spośród nich, którzy odeszli na emeryturę. Koszt wstępu to $100 od osoby.
SYSTEM OGRZEWANIA I CHŁODZENIA W KOŚCIELE
Po raz kolejny składamy serdeczne „Bóg zapłać” wszystkim Parafianom, którzy przekazali ofiarę na rzecz systemu ogrzewania i chłodzenia w kościele. Całkowity koszt urządzenia to: $27,898.40. W zeszłym tygodniu zebraliśmy kwotę: $350, co razem z poprzednimi zbiórkami daje kwotę: $14,900. W tym tygodniu serdecznie dziękujemy za wsparcie: Jean Duclos (ku pamięci Patrick’a Bembenek), Patricii i Robertowi Wojnowskim, Magdalenie Kukiełko, Barbarze Kryger oraz Jacqueline i Richardowi Skrockim. Niech Bóg błogosławi za Waszą hojność, dzięki którejw naszej bazylice możemy czuć się komfortowo.
KORONKA DO BOŻEGO MIŁOSIERDZIA Dzisiaj o godz. 15:00 zgromadzimy się w naszej świątyni na Koronce do Miłosierdzia Bożego. Wszystkich parafian serdecznie zapraszamy do udziału we wspólnej modlitwie.
NABOŻEŃSTWO FATIMSKIE W najbliższą sobotę zgromadzimy się na modlitwie różańcowej i procesji ku czci Matki Bożej Fatimskiej. Jak zawsze do wspólnej modlitwy zapraszamy wszystkich parafian, przyjaciół, organizacje parafialne a szczególnie Dzieci Maryi i ministrantów. Świętość i niezwykła moc wstawiennicza Najświętszego Serca Maryi jest kluczem do zbawienia dla wielu dusz, które bez tej pomocy mogą być stracone. Wiele dusz
ginie właśnie dlatego, że nie wiedza jak łatwo jest osiągnąć niebo oddają się pod opiekę Maryi. Nabożeństwa ku Jej czci są ogromną pomocą w drodze do zbawienia. Nie zaniedbujmy więc okazji do skorzystania z pomocy Naszej Matki i Królowej, szczególnie w miesiącu Jej poświęconym.
MODLITWA DO ŚW. MICHAŁA ARCHANIOŁA
Modlitwa do św. Michała Archanioła, zwana równiez egzorcyzmem prostym, została napisana przez papieża Leona XIII w 1886 roku, kiedy to po jednej z Mszy miał on wizję wielkich szkód, jakie Szatan planuje wyrządzić Kościołowi i światu w XX wieku. Źródła historyczne są zgodne co do tego, że Leon XIII samodzielnie ułożył modlitwę, po czym przekazał jej słowa do wydruku – z poleceniem rozesłania do wszystkich
ówczesnych ordynariuszy na świecie. Pragnął on, aby była ona od-mawiana we wszystkich kościołach po każdej Mszy świętej (cichej, tzn. nieśpiewanej) Kilka lat później, 24 kwietnia 1994 r., papież Jan Paweł II w rozważaniu po Aniele Pańskim, zachęcił nas wszystkich do od-mawiania tej modlitwy: „Chociaż w obecnej sytuacji nie odmawia się już tej modlitwy pod koniec celebracji eucharystycznej, zapraszam was wszystkich, aby-ście jej nie zapomnieli, abyście ją odmawiali, aby otrzymać pomoc w walce przeciw siłom ciemności i przeciw duchowi tego świata”. Dzisiaj, pamiętając zachętę tych dwóch papieży zachęcamy, aby modlitwę tę odmawiać indywidualnie po każdej Mszy, zaś po niek-tórych celebracjach będziemy ją także odmawiali wspólnotowo: “Święty Michale Archaniele! Wspomagaj nas w walce, a przeciw zasadzkom i niegodziwości złego ducha bądź naszą obroną. Oby go Bóg pogromić raczył, pokornie o to prosimy, a Ty, Wodzu niebieskich zastępów, szatana i inne duchy złe, które na zgubę dusz ludzkich po tym świecie krążą, mocą Bożą strąć do piekła. Amen.”
NAGRODA DLA Ś. P. SIOSTRY VALENTY
Biskup Robert McManus nominował do nagrody “Religious Retired Award” siostrę Mary Valentę Akalski, CSSF. Jak wiemy, nasza Siostra odeszła do domu Ojca w czerwcu bieżącego roku, dlatego też nagroda zostanie jej przyznana pośmiertnie
Ceremonia odbędzie się 14 października o godzinie 10:15 w Katedrze św. Pawła w Worcester, MA. Serdecznie zachęcamy wszystkich Parafian, i całą społeczność Szkoły św. Józefa do uczestnictwa w tej podniosłej uroczystości.
ST. JOSEPH WOMEN'S CLUB Comiesięczne spotkanie klubu odbędzie się we wtorek, 9 października o 19.00. Na najbliższym spot-kaniu zostaną wprowadzone także nowe członkinie klubu.
