    The Sajeevta Foundation is a not-for-profit company set up to inspire and mentor

    financially disadvantaged children who are without the resources to learn well.

    Working collaboratively and inclusively with children, their families, teachers and

    school management, the Sajeevta Foundation is making a deep and lasting

    difference to childrens learning abilities, academic understanding and long-term

    motivation. We are working for children of all backgrounds to be included inlearning that gives them an equal opportunity for success in life.

    Our programme

    for inclusive learning works:

    In Neighbourhoods: mentoring children to overcome the barriers of low-

    income backgrounds, to be successful learners

    In Schools:planning with school management and training teachers forinclusive classrooms where all students are active in learning.

    In Homes: preparing families to support their childrens aspirations andlearning in the home and to work for improvement.

    Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Havelli with corporate number U80301GJ2012NPLO72776, and

    registered u/s 80G (for donors tax deduction) and 12AA (for income tax exemption) of the I.T.

    In Neighbourhoods, Sajeevta Foundation Supports:

    Since 2010, seventeen children have been supported with over 20 hours per week

    of learning and mentoring in morning and evening sessions at the Sajeevta

    Foundation neighbourhood learning centre in Gandhinagar. Children have beenselected where families lack formal education and resources to effectively support

    childrens school learning. Learning mentors work at the Gandhinagar

    neighbourhood centre running classes with the children and with regular contact

    with families, teachers and the school management team.

    A social group for

    learning:

    creating a social group of engaged learners through regular

    collaboration with children, family and school to solveproblems and decide how to strengthen learning.

    Learning how to

    learn well:

    mentoring children to build up learning abilities, so that they

    become aware of how they are learning and become active in

    improving their own learning behaviour.

    Strengtheningunderstanding:

    group and individualised learning for each child to understand

    essential material and techniques to manage school and extra-curricular learning.

    Motivation and

    guidance:

    preparing children to set aims and to overcome barriers to

    reach long-term goals for further education, training and

    employment.

    Learning Mentors run classes 5 days a week in the neighbourhood: with pre-school children inthe mornings and with primary-level children in the evenings at a mobile study centre.

    In Schools, Sajeevta Foundation Supports:

    Sajeevta Foundation and Chaitanya School (managed by Sree Vidya Niketan

    Trust) have been working together since April 2012 to create an overall learning

    environment where innovation for inclusive learning is a sustained practice for30 teachers and over 400 students. Workshops for teachers and management

    as well as in-classroom coaching are strengthening an internal innovation team

    for better practice appropriate for the needs of all students.

    In Homes, Sajeevta Foundation Supports:

    Pre-school training for parents to value: punctuality, attendance, hygiene,education expenses.

    Regular visits to family homes to identify barriers to learning and solutions forimprovement.

    When problems are not easily solved more serious measures are agreed withfamilies and this is followed with recording the positive changes andimprovement in learning.

    We need staff to run study sessions:

    We are recruiting Learning Mentorsto start work from April 2014 at our GandhinagarNeighbourhood Learning Centre: if you love learning and teaching please contact us,a stipend can be offered for your expenses.

    We need funding:

    Rs.10,000 per month for running a home learning centre for 20 children, for: books,stationery and a daily nutritious snack.

    Rs.1000 per month to sponsor a child to attend a partner school; this covers the non-school fee costs of uniform, bus transport, textbooks and stationery.

    Core funding for the research and ground level action that develops our inclusivelearning approach: learning visits, training sessions, designing teaching and learningresources, and measuring and evaluating progress of the childrens learning and theimpact of our work.
