Just 12 days into construction it looks like the building it will be. When the walls are finished we will take a break for about a

week to let the walls cure before raising the roof. Then the front porch is poured and the roof built over it. After that, every-

thing gets plastered and will look like the buildings we have now.

We also have planned a much needed expansion for the kitchen and a front porch for my house. Then everything gets

painted. Here are the costs so far and what we need to finish the project.

A Story of Healing and Peacemaking

I am overjoyed when I am able to inter-vene in a situation just like Jesus has in-tervened in my life.

Kenyi is an outgoing 18-month-old twin ,brother to Kiden his reserved sister.

On May 23rd, Wani, a young man with afamily, was drinking home brew at hisneighbors as he all too often does, whenhe got upset and threw the glass bottle onthe ground. It shattered and a piece ofglass flew into young Kenyi’s eye.

The next day momma Kenyi brought himto WoH and Brendah tried to examine theeye. It was swollen shut with some cutsaround it. She gave him oral antibiotics, rinsed the eye with saline, treated thesmall cuts and sent the boy home.

Brendah treated the eye 2 more days untilI returned from Kampala that Sunday, with combination steroidal/antibiotic eyedrops. After treating for 2 days more, wecould see a laceration to the sclera of theeye and knew he needed further treat-ment. She made some calls to Arua,Uganda (where she attended nurses training)and arranged to have Kenyi examined thefollowing afternoon.

Brendah traveled with momma Kenyiand the twins to Uganda while I traveledto Juba to follow up on our tax-exemptionpaperwork. First we put them on boda-bodas (motorcycle taxis) to cross the border

then they took a minivan taxi the 3 hoursto Arua. It was confirmed that Kenyineeded stitches to the sclera but the eyesurgeon would not be available until 4days later so they all settled in and waitedfor the surgery.

While they were in Arua I returned toKinyiba and found out that Kenyi’s fam-ily had decided to prick the eye of one ofWani’s young children for revenge. Theytruly wanted to take an eye for an eye.

I went to speak to Wani. I told him mytestimony abouteveryone beingvery tired of mydrinking and howit hurt many of thepeople I loved. Itold him that therewas a day whenGod had arrangedfor someone to askme, “what are youdoing with yourlife” and now I

was asking him.Wani and I spokefor some timeabout the lossesthat come from alife of drinking: theloss of money, relationships, friends, health, a sound mind and self respect. Hewas moved by my testimony and saidthat he was going to stop drinking.

Kenyi’s surgery went well and they re-turned a week after they left. After thefamily saw that Kenyi would not lose hiseye they decided not to take revenge onWani’s family.

Kenyi’s father returned a few days laterfrom his job in Juba and made peace withWani because of the intervention offeredfor his son who is very well now.

Wani is still not drinking and is working

with us doingconstructionand payingback the costof surgery tothe ministry.

What could have destroyed 2 families hanow brought healing, restoration andredemption.

Our Garden on the Compound

We traveled deep into the bush on motor-cycles to visit the Project Victory farm.

Jimmy Anguyo, project manager, is a fine

young man that I have known for severalyears.

As we visited I found that 2 of hisworkers accepted Christ recently butthere was no visible change, theycontinued to drink heavily. I told themmy testimony of freedom from thebondage of alcohol and what growing inChrist can do for their lives if they seekto know the ways of God.

They allowed me to pray for them and Jimmy will start sharing the work of Godwith them.

On the way back from the farm,Chandiga ran out of fuel. My new skillfor the day, siphoning fuel from the

Honda.

When wereturnedto WoH,Chandigagot busyplantingthe onionsand bellpepper

We are hard at work finishing our planting of beans and also the pigeon peaseeds given to us by Shannon from Partnership in Hope(www.partnershipinhope.org) that came tous from the Community Health Evangelism (CHE) group in Nicaragua. We areconnected by God all over the earth.
