Disability sensitization workshop wasorganized at Reliance Corporate Office andMahindra Logistics, Mumbai with theobjective to alter mindsets, address fears,confusion, break stereotypes, and bustmyths about persons with disability. The aim of workshop was to createawareness and sensitized approach amongdifferent levels of workforce in anorganization to work towards creating aneco-sphere to have an inclusive workplace.

Fact 1: Over a billion people live with some form of disabilityThis corresponds to about 15% of the world's population. Between 110-190million adults have very significant difficulties in functioning. Rates of disabilityare increasing, due to population ageing and the global increase in chronichealth conditions. Fact 2: Disability disproportionately affects vulnerable populations Lower-income countries have a higher prevalence of disability than higher-income countries. Disability is more common among women, older people andchildren and adults who are poor. Fact 3: People with disabilities often do not receive needed health careHalf of Persons with disabilities cannot afford health care, compared to a thirdof non-disabled people. People with disabilities are more than twice as likely tofind health-care providers' skills inadequate. Persons with Disabilities are fourtimes more likely to report being treated badly and nearly three times morelikely to be denied health care. Fact 4: Children with disabilities are less likely to attend school than non-disabled childrenEducation completion gaps are found across all age groups in all settings, withthe pattern more pronounced in poorer countries. For example, the differencebetween the percentage of Children with Disabilities and the percentage ofnon-disabled children attending primary school ranges from 10% in India to 60%in Indonesia. Fact 5: People with disabilities are more likely to be unemployed than non-disabled peopleGlobal data show that employment rates are lower for disabled men (53%) anddisabled women (20%) than for non-disabled men (65%) and non-disabledwomen (30%).In OECD countries, the employment rate of people withdisabilities (44%) was slightly over half that for people without disabilities (75%).
