Ramai di antara kita yang bernasib baik kerana dapat menggelar Sembawang sebagai tempat kediaman. Apakah yang paling anda sukai tentang kediaman kita, Sembawang?

Mungkin perkembangan yang telah dirancangkan di sini. Hab Sukan dan Masyarakat Sembawang (SSCH) merupakan satu contoh utama. Dengan poliklinik, pusat penjaja, kolam renang, kemudahan sukan tertutup & terbuka dan banyak lagi, SSCH menawarkan sesuatu untuk semua. Ia juga akan berfungsi sebagai sebuah ruang dengan suasana yang bertenaga yang dapat menggalakkan ikatan masyarakat. Dapatkan semua maklumat terkini tentang Hab Sukan dan Masyarakat Sembawang dalam keluaran kali ini (Muka surat 3 - 7)!

Atau mungkin, masyarakat yang riang dan mesra di GRC Sembawang. Bersama-sama, kita meraikan ulang tahun Singapura yang ke-51, memperingati kerja keras dan pengorbanan selama bertahun yang telah menjadikan kita sebagai negara yang kita sayangi pada hari ini (Muka surat 8 – 10). Kita juga memastikan kebun-kebun masyarakat di Bandar-Bandar kita dijaga dengan rapi,

sehingga ia berjaya menghasilkan lebih daripada 100 kg sayur-sayuran segar, yang telah digunakan untuk menyediakan hidangan yang lazat bagi keluarga berpendapatan rendah di antara kita (Muka surat 11).

Masyarakat kita bukan sahaja meluangkan masa melakukan aktiviti-aktiviti yang menyeronokkan bersama, tetapi juga berganding bahu dan berusaha ke arah kebaikan untuk semua. Dengan laporan tentang kes-kes jangkitan Zika di Singapura baru-baru ini, Majlis Bandaran telah mengambil langkah-langkah pencegahan seperti melakukan semburan kabus di estet-estet, meningkatkan pemeriksaan dan rawatan ke atas tempat-tempat yang berpotensi membiakkan nyamuk. Pada masa ini, saya ingin menggesa semua penduduk agar melindungi diri mereka dan juga supaya melakukan 5-Langkah Menghapuskan Nyamuk (Muka surat 14 – 15).

Marilah kita terus bekerjasama untuk menjadikan Sembawang sebagai tempat kediaman yang hebat untuk semua pada tahun-tahun yang mendatang. Sayang Sembawang, Sayang Singapura!

Many of us are fortunate to call Sembawang home. What do you love most about our home, Sembawang?

Perhaps it’s the many developments set to take place here. The Sembawang Sports and Community Hub (SSCH) is one prime example. With a polyclinic, hawker centre, swimming pool, indoor & outdoor sports facilities and many more, the SSCH will have something for everyone. It will also serve as a vibrant space that promotes community bonding. Learn about all the latest updates on the Sembawang Sports and Community Hub in this issue (Page 3 – 7)!

Or perhaps, it’s the lively community that we have here in Sembawang GRC. Together, we celebrated Singapore’s 51st birthday, commemorating the years of hard work and sacrifice that have made us into the nation we are today (Pages 8 – 10). We also tended the community gardens in our Towns diligently,

harvesting over 100kg of fresh vegetables, which were used to make a delicious meal for low-income families in our midst (Page 11).

Our community is not only one that has fun together, but one that works hand in hand for the good of all. With the recent reports of Zika cases in Singapore, the Town Council has taken preventive measures such as the fogging of estates, the increased checking for and treating of potential mosquito breeding grounds. During this time, I would like to urge all residents to protect themselves, and also to do the 5-Step Mozzie Wipeout (Pgs 14 – 15).

Let us continue to work together to make Sembawang an outstanding home for all in the years to come. Sayang Sembawang, Sayang Singapore!

又或许，您喜欢三巴旺集选区活力四射的社区活动？今年，我们一起欢庆新加坡51岁生日，纪念我们多年的努力与付出，塑造出我国人民今日的成就（第 8 - 10 页）。我们辛勤耕种的社区花园也收割了超过100公斤的新鲜蔬菜，与社区里的低收入家庭分享了丰收的成果（第11页）。

我们的社区不仅是一个能带给我们欢乐的地方，也是一个大家携手努力建设的安乐窝。当新加坡发现到兹卡病毒的确诊病例时，本市镇理事会采取了多项防范措施，例如在组屋区进行防蚊喷雾、增加稽查次数、以及在伊蚊的潜在滋生区进行预防工作，防止伊蚊滋生。在这段期间，我恳请所有居民采取必要防蚊措施，预防被蚊虫叮咬，也要一起进行“灭蚊五步骤”(5-step Mozzie Wipeout)(第14-15页)。

SSCH will remain true to its heritage, with the former Admiralty House, a historical national monument, being incorporated into the Hub. At the Sembawang Memories and Heritage Station, residents were encouraged to contribute ideas for its future use.

Residents are already envisioning the convenience of SSCH. Joanna, 34, a mother of two, commented that she will bring her children to the sports hub. With two young children, she was glad to learn that the polyclinic will be just at her doorstep. “Currently,

In store for Sembawang residents in the next few years is an eco-friendly hawker centre, a swimming pool, and a polyclinic, among other facilities housed under one

roof. Located in Old Nelson Road, Sembawang Sports and Community Hub (SSCH) is slated to be an inclusive destination for residents’ sporting, recreational, health and leisure needs.

On 3 July 2016, the SSCH Roadshow gave residents a first look at the upcoming community hub. MPs for Sembawang GRC, Minister Khaw Boon Wan, Minister Ong Ye Kung, Mr Amrin Amin, Dr Lim Wee Kiak, PBM and Mr Vikram Nair, graced the event after joining 1,400 residents in a 1.8km brisk walk from Sembawang CC to the roadshow venue.

Display panels depicted in detail the four themes that the hub would be built around – the themes of 'Green', 'Water', 'Health' and 'Food'. Residents also experienced first-hand the benefits of an active lifestyle by participating in Tai Chi, Zumba, football and basketball games.

Much care has been taken to preserve the greenery that defines Admiralty Hill. Speaking at the event, Minister Ong Ye Kung assured residents that while 200 out of 761 trees will be cleared to make way for the project, another 1,000 trees will be replanted.

Great efforts are being taken to ensure that the hub is integrated seamlessly into a

pervasive green landscape. Heritage elements like the former Admiralty House will also be retained and creatively integrated into the park.

Parents can bring their children to the Adventure Park to brave obstacle courses and explore tunnels. The hub will also promote ownership of the surrounding biodiversity through spaces set aside for community gardening initiatives.

Usaha gigih telah diambil untuk memastikan hab ini disepadukan dengan baik ke dalam landskap yang luas menghijau. Unsur-unsur warisan seperti bekas Admiralty House juga akan dikekalkan dan disepadukan secara kreatif ke dalam taman.

A s part of the Water theme, residents can look forward to an outdoor swimming pool nestled among natural settings. The outdoor pool will meet both the sporting needs of residents and also provide a sense of rest and tranquility in keeping residents close to nature.

Also included under the Water theme is the sustainable water management of the hub. The hub will utilise natural water systems to ensure that the biodiversity of the area is maintained. The recycling of greywater (wastewater) will also enhance the eco-friendly quality of the hub.

中心也会有一部分以“水”为主题，所以在设计上，居民可期待拥有一座户外游泳池，在大自然的环抱下游泳。游泳池不仅能够满足热爱游泳居民的需求，同时还能让居民在一个清静，悠闲的大自然环境下放松身心。

如果您喜欢在绿意盎然的环境下到户外探险，那你一定会期待能到三巴旺体育和社区中心的“森林健身室”锻炼身体！居民们可到这里的各个运动站挑战自己身体的极限，或随心所欲地享受健身的乐趣。

“森林健身室”旁就是翠绿的运动草坪。这里开放式的户外环境适合大家组队前来参与各种休闲活动，如足球、飞盘游戏、排球、泡泡足球和触式橄榄球。

预防和保健服务也是三巴旺体育和社区中心的主要特点之一，旨在让居民享有和恢复健康。这里将设有新的综合诊疗所，为居民提供医疗护理、预防疫苗和医疗检查服务。这里也会设有乐龄托管中心，为乐龄人士提供日间护理和康复疗养服务。中心也会提供居家看护服务给居住在附近且不便于行的乐龄人士。此外，中心也会推出活跃健保计划，教导居民如何维持健康的生活方式。

I f you enjoy exercising amidst lush greenery and experiencing outdoor adventures, look forward to toning up your body at the Forest Gym in the Sembawang Sports and Community Hub (SSCH)! Residents can test the limits of their bodies or work their hearts out at the various gym stations.

Located alongside the Forest Gym is the sports lawn. The open space is ideal for recreational team sports such as Football, Frisbee, Volleyball, Bubble Soccer and Touch Rugby.

Preventive and restorative healthcare are also main features of SSCH. A new polyclinic will offer medical care, vaccination and medical screening to residents. A senior care centre will provide day care and rehabilitation services. Home-based care services will also be made available to homebound seniors living in the area. Furthermore, active health programmes will educate residents on keeping up a healthy lifestyle.

Terletak bersebelahan Forest Gym adalah padang sukan. Ruang terbuka ini amat sesuai bagi sukan rekreasi berpasukan seperti Bola Sepak, Piring Terbang, Bola Tampar, Bola Sepak Gelembung dan Ragbi Sentuh.

Penjagaan kesihatan pencegahan dan pemulihan juga merupakan ciri-ciri utama SSCH. Sebuah poliklinik baru akan menawarkan rawatan perubatan, vaksinasi dan pemeriksaan perubatan kepada penduduk. Sebuah pusat jagaan warga emas akan menyediakan perkhidmatan jagaan harian dan pemulihan. Perkhidmatan penjagaah di rumah juga akan disediakah bagi warga emas yang tinggal di kawasan tersebut dan yang tidak berdaya untuk keluar dari rumah mereka. Di samping itu, program-program kesihatan aktif akan mendidik penduduk tentang pentingnya mengamalkan gaya hidup sihat.

host. It will be an eco-friendly hawker centre, complete with energy efficient lighting, water-saving fittings and food waste recycling infrastructure. Family-friendly features such as child-friendly toilet facilities, diaper-changing and nursing rooms will also ensure that the whole family has a great dining experience together.

At the SSCH, residents will be able to try their hand at community gardening in active gardening spaces with orchards of local fruit. Reward yourself after farming with a refreshing drink freshly squeezed from fruits picked from the garden.

居民前来三巴旺体育和社区中心时，可期待在崭新的熟食中心用餐。为配合三巴旺体育和社区中心的环保主题，熟食中心将会是亲环境的环保熟食中心，设有省电照明系统、省水装置、回收食物残羹设施。这里也设有亲家庭设施，如孩童适用的厕所设备和育婴室。种种措施都旨在为一家老少提供美好的餐饮体验。

在三巴旺体育和社区中心，居民可以亲自动手耕种，利用这里的小片土地，积极种植各种本地蔬果。辛勤耕种后，居民还能享用一杯采栽自其果园内蔬果的新鲜果汁。

S ingapore has come of age as we write a new chapter together after five decades of nation building. Even as we pay tribute to the pioneer generation

for their contributions, the future is now in the hands of the younger ones to take Singapore to greater heights!

This was clearly seen in the National Day Observance Ceremonies, Carnival and Dinners held in the Admiralty, Canberra, Gambas, Sembawang and Woodlands divisions. Many young members of our society made their debut performances on stage with lively musical and dance performances. Their confidence bodes well for the future of Singapore. The National Day Parade theme song ‘Tomorrow’s Here Today’, was also played during the celebrations. This year’s theme song aptly reflects the energy evident in the youths of Sembawang GRC. Hopes are high that they will ‘take the world by the hand’, trailblazing their way to a brighter Singapore!

One of the highlights of the National Day celebrations this year was a 1.8m by 1.5m art piece that was unveiled at the Gambas National Day Carnival. The artwork included many traditional art techniques such as Rangoli drawing, batik painting and Chinese calligraphy on one canvas. It symbolised the many different races and cultures within Singapore and our commitment to remain united amidst our differences. Our MPs for Sembawang GRC were present to put the finishing touches on the masterpiece. Beautiful calligraphy characters spelt out our wish for Singapore in her 51st birthday: for peace, prosperity and abundance for Singapore and her people in the years to come!

Nair celebrated the nation’s 51st birthday with 200 low-income families. Together, they tucked into a delectable lunch at ACE The Place CC, prepared by volunteers using over 100kg of freshly harvested vegetables from nine community gardens and a rooftop garden in Spectra Secondary School.

Initiated in 2014, the Community Garden Project is a joint collaboration between Sembawang GRC and Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA). It has gone from strength to strength, garnering support from various community partners which include BW Monastery, Yusok Ishak Mosque, AVA, Spectra Secondary School and Blossom Seeds.

Cultural performances and magic shows highlighted the event. Residents, both children and adults alike, were intrigued by the nifty sleight of hand magic performances, as they enjoyed the thoughtfully prepared food.

One gardener, Mr Oh Bee Guan, 58, felt that community gardening fosters inclusiveness. “I am glad that the participants enjoyed the food. I realise what I am doing is meaningful when I see them eating heartily,” he added.

The lunch ended on a heartwarming note, with Sembawang GRC MPs distributing goodie bags to the low-income families. Kudos to the volunteers and gardeners for their efforts and making the Sembawang GRC Community Garden Project a great success!

T he Sembawang Town Council office was officially opened on 3 July 2016 by MPs for Sembawang GRC, Minister Khaw Boon Wan, Minister Ong Ye Kung, Mr Amrin Amin, Dr Lim Wee Kiak, PBM and Mr Vikram

Nair. Joined by residents, our MPs unveiled the plaque, signaling the official launch of the new Sembawang Town Council Office.

The main objective of setting up a Town Council office in this area is to better serve our residents. The new Sembawang Town Council office is centrally located in the heart of Sembawang GRC and will bring about much convenience for residents who stay in Sembawang Town to make payments, apply for permits and give feedback.

Residents in Woodlands Town can continue to make payment at our existing Collection Centre at Woodlands Civic Centre. Our residents in Yishun Town will be happy to note that plans are underway for the construction of a new Collection Centre in Yishun.

To add to the festivities, the Sembawang Zone ‘K’ RC Block Party was held in conjunction with the Town Council Office opening. Residents who attended were treated to a number of fun activities such as a lively quiz with attractive prizes. There were also games and educational booths for residents to look at and a delicious buffet lunch.

We hope to continue to bring about more convenience and better service to all our residents in the years to come!
