Halideand SodiumVapour Lamps as well as Transformersfor LowVoltage HalogenLamps.The guarantee of theSchwabe name in thehigh quality Ballast market and thecontinuous development of technologyhas resulted in reliable products, which hasmeantthat thecompanyhas acquired a steadyand growing share of theinternationalmarket.Our exportingcapacity which accounts for70-80%of our total production,hascreated repeat business in Europe,MiddleEast, FarEast, South AmericaandAfricaThe company constantly strivesto improve both the technologyandquality of itsproducts with highlyskilledandcontinuously trained personnel.SCHWABE HELLASapplied itsown quality management systemwhich wasfirstlycertified in 1996 according toISO 9002:1994.Since thenthe company hascontinuously evolveditsquality management systemand was again certified in2003according toISO 9001:2000.

    The specifications described hereunder apply to all the standard products of

    Schwabe Hellas Co Ltd. Alterations or modifications can be effected at thecustomer’s request, within International Standards according to which all ourproducts are manufactured.

    TERMINALS AND PLASTIC PARTSTwotypes of terminals canbe provided with Schwabe HellasBallasts:ScrewTerminals:For connection to solid core or multi-stranded cable o 0.5mm2 till 2.5mm2.Push-in (automatic/screwless) Terminals:For connection to solid core cableo 0.5mm2 till 1.5mm2.

    The terminalsandallother plastic parts areconstructedwith non flammablematerialand have passed theneedle flame and glow wire testswhich apply to terminals usedon Ballasts andtransformers.

    EARTHINGDepending on therequirements of the customer,earthing can be obtained on theBallast fixing holesor, if requested, with an earth screw providedon the Ballast.

    TEMPERATURE FEATUREStwis the maximum tolerated temperature on the Ballast winding under constantoperation.Schwabe Hellas Ballasts indicate tw 130 which ensures a life span for more than 10years under constant operation andunder normal operatingconditions.∆t∆t normal is the increase of the temperature on the Ballast winding under normaloperating conditions.ta

    It isuseful to estimate themaximumambient temperaturewith the∆t and twvalues.The ambient temperatureta isdeterminedwith theequation ta=tw -∆tForexample: If tw=130and∆t=55, then

    ta=tw - ∆t=130-55=75 therefore the maximum tolerated ambient temperature under normal operatingconditions in this case wouldbe 750 C.∆t abnormal is the increase of the temperature on the Ballast winding underabnormal operating conditions.∆t cap is the increase of the temperature on the Ballast winding under normaloperatingconditions with capacitor in seriesconnection (optional).

    LV 73/23 E.E.C.

    LowVoltageDirectiveapplicable to all electricalapplianceswith rated voltageof to 1.000 V a/c and 75 to 1.000V d/c.

    EMC 89/336/E.E.C.Electromagnetic Compatibility Directiveapplicable to all electric andelectronic

    appliances which cangenerate radio-interference andcanbe effected by generaldisturbances fromother appliances surrounding them.

    With reference to the above directives with which Schwabe Hellas products fullycomply, the correspondingInternationalStandards mentioned in this catalogueaninthe«CE Declaration of Conformity» arestrictly followed.The tests on the products areconducted at European TestingInstitutes which certif the use of the Standard inSchwabe Hellas products.Moreover, the Companyhasestablisheditsownresearch anddevelopment department, fully equipped in orderprovide testing services for the Company and itscustomers.

    ENERGY EFFICIENCY INDEX (EEI)DIRECTIVE2000/55/ECThis directiveapplies to Ballasts for Fluorescent lamps and indicateswhich Ballaswill be excluced fromthe European marketdue to their high losses.

    According to CELMA, theFluorescentBallasts are classified to 7 classes A1,A2,A3, B1, B2, C & D as indicated within a table attached.

    SCHWABEHELLAS indicatesthe E.E.I. on thelabel of each Ballast. This isalsoreferred for each item within this catalogue.
