PERBANDINGAN BAHAN SEALANT COMPOMER DAN RESIN BIS-GMA TERHADAP
KEBOCORAN MIKRO PADA EFEK PERUBAHAN SUHU

Abstrak
Latar Belakang : Morfologi oklusal yang sangat kompleks dan celah gigi yang bervariatif menjadi
penyebab awal terjadinya karies. Pit dan Fissure sealant sebagai upaya pencegahan karies dalam
kedokteran gigi preventif, selama ini banyak digunakan klinisi dalam upaya mempromosikan kesehatan
gigi. Bahan sealant yang sering digunakan adalah Resin dan Glass Ionomer Cement, kedua sifat Resin
dan Glass Ionomer Cement terdapat pada bahan Compomer sealant. Kebocoran mikro pada Compomer
dipengaruhi oleh besar perbedaan koefisien ekspansi termal Compomer dan gigi disebabkan oleh
perubahan suhu yang mempengaruhi retensi bahan pada gigi.
Metode : Penelitian eksperimental laboratorium menggunakan 32 sampel gigi premolar pasca ekstraksi
yang dilakukan fissure sealant dengan Compomer (grup 1) dan Resin Bis-GMA (grup 2). Gigi yang telah
di fissure sealant disimpan dalam saliva buatan selama 24 jam pada suhu 37ºC dalam inkubator.
Thermocycling dilakukan pada suhu 6ºC dan 60ºC selama 250 putaran dengan jarak 30 detik. Gigi diolesi
varnish kuku dan direndam dalam methylene blue 5% selama 4 jam. Gigi dicuci lalu dibelah dengan arah
bukopalatal menggunakan bur separating disk dan kebocoran mikro diuji dengan mikroskop digital
dengan perbesaran 100x. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan uji statistik Mann-Whitney.
Hasil : Rerata skor penetrasi pada Compomer sebesar 13,94 .00 dan Resin bis-GMA sebesar 19.06. Hal
tersebut menunjukkan bahwa kebocoran mikro pada Compomer lebih kecil dibandingkan Resin bis-
GMA. Uji statistik Mann-Whitney menunjukan nilai sig. sebesar 0,096 (p>0,05).
Simpulan : Tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kebocoran mikro Compomer dan Resin bis-
GMA dan rerata kebocoran mikro Compomer lebih kecil dibandingkan Resin bis-GMA

Abstrac
Introduction : A very complex occlusal morphology and varying tooth gaps are the initial cause caries
dental. Pit and Fissure Sealant as an effort to prevent dental caries in preventive dentistry has been used
by clinician all this time to promote dental health. The sealant’s materials often used are Resin and Glass
Ionomer Cement. Compomer is a sealant material which combines two characteristics of Resin and Glass
Ionomer Cement. Microleakage on Compomer is influenced by the large differences in thermal
expomeration coefficients of Compomer and teeth. It is obtained that still there is microleakage which
relates to the temperature changing which affects the dental material’s retention. This research aims to
understand the micro leakage of Compomer and Resin bi-GMA sealant materials on temperature
changing as sealant material.
Methods: The type of research used was the experimental study. Samples were divided into two groups,
namely group 1 (Compomer), and group 2 (Resin bis-GMA). There were four steps in doing this research,
which were applying each fissure sealant material then the tooth was stored in artificial saliva for 24
hours at 37ºC in incubator, and then performing the thermocycling at 6⁰C and 60⁰C for 250 rounds
spaced 30 seconds. After that, the teeth were smeared with varnish nails and soaked in 5% methylene blue
for four hours. The last, the teeth were washed and splited in a buccopalatal direction, and the
microleakage was tested with a digital microscope. The Mann-Whitney test showed that sig. value 0.096
(p>0,05).
Result: the result of this research shows that there is no significant difference of micro leakage score
between Compomer and Resin bis-GMA sealant. The compomer sealant has less micro leakage score
than resin bis-GMA did.
