    Process Summary:

This is a dye staining process using a water-based working solution. The evidence isrepeatedly stained and rinsed until optimum development occurs. This reagent may beapplied to surfaces that are contaminated with oils and grease.

    Accepted De!at!o"s:

The working solution may be re-used. The working solution may also be applied by

brushing. The developed detail may be viewed under a forensic light source at 505 nm to570 nm using red viewing goggles.

    Process Summary:

A lipid-specific dye stain technique for use on porous items which have become wet.(esearch has shown that )il (ed ) can be superior to *hysical +eveloper to develop

latent fingerprints on thermal paper and standard white paper. %ewer immersion steps and

less need to avoid chloride contamination are benefits using the )il (ed ) reagent.Accepted De!at!o"s:The ,arbonate p7 buffer solution may be used instead of the *hosphate p7 buffer

    solution.

)il (ed ) may be used as a precursor to *hysical developer to locate areas of likely

friction ridge detail on brown kraft paper. *hysical developer treatment follows )il (ed

) in order to improve the resolution of the friction ridge detail.

This is a multi-solution multi-step process that can be used as a follow-up to ninhydrin

cases. This is the technique of choice for paper currency items and porous items that may
