I have recently completed an Advanced Diploma in Building and Design (Architectural)

located at Holmesglen Institute of Tafe at Chadstone Campus in 2014.

My passion for the building industry was sparked upon entering the property market myself.

After undertaking a major renovation, my interest was further enhanced when I was heavily

involved with the design process and consulting with the drafting office. These were fond

years in the property market buying and renovating, and I decided to follow my new dreams by

commencing the Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural) course at Holmesglen Tafe.

THE COURSE CURRICULUM INCLUDED

• Building and Design of Residential and Commercial Buildings, applying best practice and

National Construction Codes Volume 1 and 2(NCC), and Australian Standards (AS) with State

and Local Planning Policies and Schemes to meet compliance for planning and building

approval.

• Production of town planning and working drawings using Archicad 18 3D program mainly,

including brief period using Autodesk Revit drafting tool, to create 3D models, including

illustrations, applying render, producing planning and working drawings that include

elevations, floor plans, sections and details to a good standard. Photoshop poster

presentations also.

• Building an appreciation and respect for Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD)

with commercial ground-level space and basement carpark, simulating completion within

time frames considering the client’s brief and objectives. The final major project presented to

Building Faculty members, fellow students, family and friends.

I proudly completed this course in 2014 after 5 ½ years of part time study. I was highly motivated

and committed as I accomplished this also while working full-time with a young family. In

my spare time I have engaged with creating 3D concept images and planning alterations for

people considering altering their homes, while continuing to practise and learn the Archicad 3D
