TIPS

Local Name: Casa del Ossos (House of Bones)

Characteristic:

1) having a visceral, skeletal organic quality

2) ground floor with tracery, irregular oval windows and flowing sculpted stone work

Much of the facade is decorated with a mosaic made of broken ceramic tiles that starts in shades of golden orange moving into greenish blues

The roof is arched and was likened to the back of a dragon or dinosaur

Parque GuellParque GuellThe entrance to the park

Gaudí's multicolored mosaic dragon fountain at the main entrance, prior to vandalism early in 200

At the top of Guell park is a terraced area where you get a wonderful view of the park and of Barcelona City

Here you will find multi-coloured tiled mosaic seats as shown in this picture. The vibrant colours of the tiles are truly breathtaking

The unique shape of the serpentine bench enables the people sitting on it to converse privately, although the square is large

The bench is tiled and in order to dry up quickly after it rains, and to stop people from sitting in the wet part of the bench, small bumps were installed by Gaud

Casa MilaCasa Mila

six storey, fluid design

The wavy facade reminds one also of an undulating beach of fine sand

full of twisted curves

Gaudi had said: Only men drew straight lines – God and nature much preferred curves

The roof sports an imitation of the bench from Guell Park as well as an ever more impressive series of bizarre chimney stacks
