It is our endeavour to educate children from I to VIII, with the CBSE Curriculum in a caring atmosphere and to prepare children to appear for the CBSE board Examination. The highlights of our education Philosophy are: We insist on individual attention, individual counseling, instead of emphasizing rote learning, we promote interactive learning.

The classrooms are spacious and are designed to be equipped with audio visual aids. In addition our school has well equipped science laboratory, a well-designed language lab, computer laboratory where each student has an individual machine available for their learning. The library is well stocked with reference, fictional and non-fictional books. It is also equipped with computers to access the internet for reference work.

The curriculum also includes extracurricular activities and sports. These include facilities like Art, Dance & Music Studio, a modern sports complex comprising of a fitness court, volley ball court, badminton & basketball court, Taekwondo, kabaddi & skating arena, football & cricket ground. Facilities for indoor games like Table Tennis, Carom, Chess & shooting etc. are also part of the school routine.

Primary School Programme – Classes I to V The primary school programme encourages inquiry and exploration, and develop children’s competence in various skills- reading, writing, listening, speaking, problem solving, observation, measurement and use of information and communications technology.

The primary school is based on C.B.S.E curriculum. It offers an exciting and creative learning environment, with an inter-disciplinary appreciation of languages, mathematics, science and social studies, as individual and integrated subjects. Hindi is taught as a second language, while Sanskrit (for Std.V) offered as the third language, which helps build a strong foundation in Indian languages.

The computer classes help students understand information and communication technology and its benefits. Equal emphasis is given to individual, small group and whole-group activities, to improve children’s ability to work across all levels. Physical Education develop sport skills and create health awareness. Exposure to team and individual sports encourage a sense of team spirit, and individuals effort and accomplishment.

The wide range of curricular and co-curricular opportunities offered helps instil in children confidence and discipline. The focus on developing communication skills help them appreciate the value of education, as it reflects in their ability to express in themselves, in addition to developing pragmatic skills.

Field trips excursions, activities, projects and presentation provide experiential learning opportunities. Dance, Fine Arts, western and Indian music, yoga, speech and drama promote

well-rounded development. Students are encouraged to participate in inter-house culture and sports events. Active learning techniques like free play, dramatisation, puppetry, singing and dancing enhance their interest in learning book, newspaper and magazine reading activities increase children’s awareness of the world. Middle school programme- classes VI to VIIIThe middle school programme is structured to meet children’s varied intellectual and developmental needs. The CBSE curriculum builds on concepts and skills learnt in the primary school. It ensures progression and continuity across various stages of learning in the school, and incorporates continuous evaluation and review of children’s performance.

The main aims of the programme are developing skills related to Writing , Reading, Reflecting, Critical Thinking, Public Speaking, Fostering initiative among students and a desire to acquire knowledge. Academic subjects include English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, S.S.T, Sanskrit and computer. Arts, drama, computer studies, music, Yoga and Dance are integrated into the mainstream curriculum and are further strengthened as optional co- curricular activities.

Physical education is offered in a more formal manner and sports skills are fine-tuned. This prepare students to pursue sports in a more structured and purposeful manner, including studing sports in the secondary school as a formal subject.

The integration projects showcase the knowledge and skills acquired by students in various subjects, and serves as a concrete step towards developing inter-disciplinary approaches in later years. Field trip and excursion aid in developing social skills and in raising awareness about the world. Projects, presentation and group activities are more formal and research-based. Inter-house cultural and sports competitions encourage healthy competition and team spirit. Students begin to contribute to class assemblies, concerts and drama productions, and take up roles of responsibility. Community service is offered through school-initiated programmes.

Secondary school programme- class IX At Sharda Global School, the curriculum starts with an emphasis on learning basic facts and gradually

moves to detailed understanding of concepts, through interpretation and evaluation as students progress to higher classes. It is built around the principles of knowledge from an integral part and aid the development of analytical skills. The programme aims to empower children to contribute towards a humane, just and pluralistic society, and promote introspective living.

Class IX serves as a preparatory year for class X. Students study English as a first language, Hindi/Sanskrit as a second language and Mathematics, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Social Science ( History, Civics, Geography and Economics) subjects.

School trips and excursions enable children to expand their understanding of the world from the academic and cultural perspectives. They participate in Dance, Drama, Fine Arts, Western and Indian music, Yoga, and Other Activities. They organise and participate an inter-house cultural and sports events, thus developing leadership skills and team spirit. Community service is an integral part of the learning, with students actively involved in various service projects.

Extra-Curricular Activities Sharda Global School nurtures the creative potential in each student through diverse training programmes. Art and craft, Music- Instrumental and vocal, Indian classical dance, gardening, Debate, elocution, extempore, public speaking are some of the co-curricular activities offered.

Other Clubs

Students are also offered the choice of participating in various clubs. Among the clubs offered at present are:

Sports SGS offers its students a chance to learn and excel in a wide variety of sporting related activities. Ground facilities at SGS include Football ground, Basket Ball Court and Tennis Court. There is also an indoor Badminton court and several TT Table. The school also provides several Chess Sets as an indoor game and children are also encouraged to play chess on the computers available. The school also conducts several camps where experienced coaches are invited to participate. Teachers and other staff who are interested in games and sports also help the sport staff. The children are split into four houses namely- Wisdom House, Righteous House, Courage

House and Exuberant House There is a healthy competitive spirit and a spirit of sportsmanship among the different houses.

Residential Facilities

The school offers hostel facilities for boy students. The hostel provides a relaxed, congenial atmosphere as a second home for the children. Students enjoy the privacy of their own niches, as well as airy dormitories and large common space to relax in. An MBBS qualified doctor visits the school every day to look after the health and hygiene of the students. For advanced medical assistance, the school has tie-ups with local hospitals and nursing homes. Health records of the students are maintained and parents are requested to keep the school authorities informed of specific medical requirements. A professional laundry service is also provided. Matrons are available at all times to oversee the well- being, safety and security of the Boarders along with the in house staff.

The school campus has 24 hour professional security service along with CCTV surveillance across the entire campus. Provision exists for 24 hour power supply with generator back up. It is equipped with a full-fledged kitchen, recreation room and study area. Food is prepared under hygienic conditions offering a vegetarian multi cuisine to the boarders.

onAdmission

A registration form is included in the prospectus. Submission of Registration Form, however, does not guarantee admission. The applicant needs to appear for an Interview or Admission Test to seek admission in the school. The Registration fee is not refundable in any case.

Admission Rules v Admission is granted purely on

academic grounds irrespective of caste, creed and community.

v Every candidate needs to be registered prior to admission.

v At the time of admission, the student must produce a leaving certificate from the recognized school last attended. If she/he comes from outside Jharkhand state, LC must be counter signed by the Education Officer of that place.

Fees Schedule of fees is enclosed with the Registration form. Fees is to be paid in quarterly installments during the course of year. The school dues should be paid in time to enable the student to appear for the semester examination.

Fee can also be deposited through bank.

Withdrawal/Refund of Fees New students:

v If the student is withdrawn or does not join before the start of the academic year, registration & admission fee shall be forfeited and tution fee refunded.

v If the student joins the school and is withdrawn after the start of academic year, fee for one quarter and other expenses incurred shall be charged.

General rules for students: Parents are required to give a three months notice in writing for withdrawal of a child. TC will be issued only after all the dues have been cleared and related formalities completed. Admission

esGuidelines and Rules for Hostellers

v Hostellers will follow the daily routine of the hostel and school unless exempted on medical grounds or on recommendations of the hostel warden.

v Hostellers are not allowed to stay in dormitories during school time.

v Hostellers are expected to behave/conduct in a manner to ensure their own and others safety, security as well as the wellbeing and happiness of others in the hostel. Any deviation will be viewed seriously and punishment awarded.

v Cupboards and beds will be arranged neatly. Surprise checks will be made by hostel warden. Any extra items other than specified in the hostel kit will be confiscated.

v Personal hygiene should be maintained at all times.

v Toilets and Bathrooms should be left clean for the next person to use.

Possessions Allowed/Not Allowed v No student will keep pocket money with them as it is to be deposited to the school.

v Students may not keep expensive articles, jewellery portable CD/DVD players, radio, mobile phone etc.

Hostel Leave Rules v Weekend outings with parents/local guardians with an exeat (specific written permission

by the warden) is allowed. For proper security and for hostellers participation in school activities it is desirable that at least 24 hours advance request is made for these outings. In the absence of this request the child will not be allowed for outing.

v Reporting after outing will be before 3:00 pm (winter) and 4:00 pm (summer). No hostellers will be allowed in after 6:00 pm under any circumstances even while returning from term breaks. If their transport is delayed they must go to the Local Guardian who will bring them to Hostel the next day one hour before the start of the school.

v Application for attending family or religious functions or any other event will not be entertained unless it pertains to parents or siblings.

v Any emergency need for the hostellers to be home is dealt with by the warden as per the merit of the case; his / her decision is binding.

v Wearing of school uniform is compulsory at every exit and reporting times.

v Visitors are not allowed to visit the boarding house without the permission of the Principal.

GuidelinesParent/Guardian

Parents must inform the school immediately if they are changing the local guardian for any reason.

Visitors/Parents are not allowed into to visit the hostel/dormitories. They will meet their wards in the visitors room/school office.

Medical Any hosteller feeling ill or falling sick must report immediately to the hostel warden and/or school infirmary.

The school infirmary will attend to minor medical needs. Illness/Emergency cases will be taken to local hospital or to any medical doctor escorted by the infirmary sister or hostel warden or any other responsible school staff as per need.

If any hosteller is suffering from any infection or communicable disease that may spread to others then he has to be collected by parents or local guardian immediately.

Parents and local guardians can contact their wards over the telephone no. on the days prescribed by the school.

Before the student joins the Hostel, the following formalities must be completed..

v An authority letter from the parent giving two names and address to act as local guardians, with their photographs and telephone numbers and Xerox of authorized address proof that would be recorded in a register.

v Local guardians must not be a student, however aged they may be.

v Only those adults who live in a family environment and are earning members themselves can become the local guardian.

v A certificate from the local guardians counter signed by the parents accepting responsibility for the hostel student and permitting him to say during an exit or at times of sickness or medical emergency.

v A certificate from the parents certifying that no mobile telephone/cash/costly belongings are retained by the student.

v A health certificate regarding medical history of the student specifying any observation that would be useful for caring about the child in case of any medical need.

Rules and Regulations v All the students are expected to speak in

English

v No leave is granted during the term-time except under very urgent/humanitarian grounds.

v Unauthorized absence from the school shall be considered a serious misconduct.

v Periodic reports of the student’s progress will be sent to the parents.

v In all matters pertaining to the studies, behavior and welfare of the students, the Principal’s decision is final and binding.

v Parents/Guardians are bound by the school rules in all respects. In all matters of dispute, the decision of the Principal is final.

v In case of damage to the school property and the loss of library books, the recovery will be made from the parent of the student concerned.

v Birthdays are not celebrated in the school by distributing sweets or any kind of presents.

v A student who is unwell should not be sent to school. In case of emergency, medical fees and transport charges will be borne by the parents. Students suffering from contagious or infectious diseases are not permitted to attend the school.

v Any sort of complaints / suggestions regarding school matters should be handed over to the Principal and not to the class teachers.

v Parents or Guardians can request a meeting with the teacher only with the prior permission of the Principal and should

never approach the teacher directly in the classroom.

v For breach of any School Rules, a student may be fined or otherwise punished at the discretion of the Principal.

Discipline

v All children must reach the school on time.

v Students/Parents should avoid offering gifts or presents to any of the staff at any time.

Uniform

v All students must wear only prescribed uniform on all weekdays without making any alterations. It should always be clean.

Absence

v Irregular attendance and unjustified absence justifies dismissal. Students must not be kept away from the School for celebrations like engagements, marriages, pujas, etc.

v The parents of the children who remain absent even for a day must write a note in the ‘Leave and Absentee Record’ in the almanac stating the reason for absentee. It must be signed by both parents as well as the teachers.

v In case of a long sickness, a letter must be sent to the Principal on a neat sheet of paper enclosed in an envelope with appropriate details written on it. Parents must not wait to send this intimation until the child recovers. Parents must produce a medical certificate for absence on account of illness.

v Attendance is compulsory on Independence Day Celebration, Republic Day Celebration, first and last working day of each session.
