Hi everyone! My name is Sheena Wang. I am an intern at the Capital Planning & Procurement’s OS&C (Operating Supplies & Consumables). My main role here is to help build the sample showrooms, order products for Four Seasons charity event and building reference libraries.

The CP&P OS&C team: (l – r) Leticia, Lucy, Isabelle, Monica Silaghi and I.Lynda, Crystal, Michelle and I.

If you were to ask me, ‘what is your passion?’ Without hesitation, I would have to say FOOD!!!! I love to eat. I love trying out new restaurants and that’s probably the reason why I love Toronto so much!

I was born and raised in Taiwan and came to Toronto about five years ago. I left Taiwan at the age of 10 and have lived in the US (Virginia and Pennsylvania) and Vancouver. Although I have always complained to my parents about moving, these valuable experiences shaped who I am today, having prepared me to adapt and adjust to different environments, and to be responsible and independent.

My family and I in New York for my sister’s wedding last year.

I came to Toronto in 2008 and immediately fell in love with the city. I decided to stay (now it’s my second home) and pursue a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Retail Management at Ryerson University. Last year, I was lucky to have the opportunities to go to China and France as an exchange student!

My trip to China was an experiential study offered for the first time by our program, where 16 Canadian students were taken on a two-week research trip to Beijing, Shanghai, and Hangzhou. Throughout the trip, I was the guide/interpreter, since I was the only one who could speak Mandarin and read Chinese. It was definitely one of the most memorable trips that I have ever been on.

Cabo de Roca, Portugal Salzburg, Austria - where Mozart was born.

For my second exchange trip, I went to Paris and studied at Université Paris Dauphine for about 6 months. This opportunity allowed me to meet students from all over the world and learn about different cultures. During the period, I also travelled to Spain, Portugal, Benelux (Belgium, Netherland and Luxembourg), London UK, Austria and Czech Republic. Fortunately, I also had the chance to explore some of the World Heritage Sites of UNESCO. Out of all the places I have visited, Cabo da Roca is my absolute favourite. It has the most breathtaking views of all and it is located at the most westerly point of Europe in Portugal.

Last but not least, I just want to say that I am truly grateful for this internship opportunity. It has been an honour to be part of the family and meeting all of you, and hopefully I will see you again soon!
