PACHIM KETANIM FROM RABBI YUDIN: In Honor of Parshat Ki-Tisa and Shushan Purim Shabbos keeps us coming and going. In Parshas Ki-Tisa we are continuing with the Mishkan, and after Ha- shem tells Moshe to appoint Betzalel to oversee its construction, we are taught (31:13) "ach es shabsosai tishmoru" - you are to keep my Sabbaths. The Kli Yakar makes two observations: First, the Mishkan/Mikdash is dependent on our keeping of Shabbos; if the Jewish people do not, they will not be worthy of having His Divine presence dwell in their midst. Second, why the plural, "shabsosai"? The Talmud Shabbos (118b) teaches that if Israel keeps two Sabbaths they will be redeemed, as there are two aspects of Shabbos. First, historically commemorating His creating the world. Second, our belief in Olam Habah, a time of complete and total Shabbos. Therefore, eating and resting is not enough; rather, a focus on spirituality, zmiros, divrei To- rah, and Torah learning are essential to prepare us for the future agenda of Olam Habah.
