The existing Sidi Mohamed Al Hamrey site is located on one of the highest points in the Green Mountains due north of a site of a proposed new town. The site has two distinct character areas; the first, covered with dense Pine plantation laid out en-grid with a few clearings, in contrast to the rest, a broad expanse of undulating limestone topography covered in low level Mediterranean evergreen scrub; the two areas are divided by a ridge. The buildings are conceived as a series of woodland pavilions. They have been designed to ‘grow out of’ the woodland and take advantage of the close proximity of the trees for additional shading from strong sun. From the main gate, and the administration building, a series of trails and jogging routes with bridle paths have been laid out to follow existing paths to avoid further damage to the existing landscape and to avoid the loss of trees. The local centre is located centrally at the edge of the East/West ridge which runs across the site, affording views across the open and undulating landscape of the park towards the camping and chalet areas whilst at the same time locating the building in new informal landscaped areas and gardens without removing existing trees.

All but one of the buildings is single-storey and generally designed to merge in the landscape and be subsidiary to the natural features of the Park within which they are placed. The designs have been conceived to strengthen the existing sense of place in this woodland setting. The buildings are of unique organic form and design, arranged along routes and adjacent to open spaces, to enhance the informal relaxed experience of dwelling amongst the trees.
