Bagi ANTAM, keberlanjutan adalah suatu upaya untuk mempertahankan kinerja lingkungan (environment), sosial (social) dan tata kelola yang berkelanjutan (sustainability governance) untuk menciptakan sebuah kombinasi seimbang sebagai suatu Perusahaan yang bertanggung jawab sosial (socially responsible company). Melalui pendekatan ini, ANTAM mengurangi risiko Perseroan dan berusaha menciptakan nilai tambah bagi pemangku kepentingan dengan taat pada semua regulasi dan melaksanakan kegiatan bisnis sesuai visi dan misi, nilai perusahaaan, strategi dan target capaian. ANTAM Tanam 50.000 Mangrove di Area Kritis Pulau Rambut, Kepulauan SeribuANTAM telah melakukan penanaman 50 ribu pohon mangrove di area kritis Pulau rambut di Kepulauan Seribu, yang merupakan area suaka margasatwa bagi pelestarian ribuan burung. Penanaman mangrove di pulau ini merupakan bagian dari penanaman lebih dari 1,4 juta pohon yang ditanam ANTAM sebagai bentuk komitmen untuk ikut mengelola lahan kritis di luar lingkungan tambang, dan juga bertujuan meningkatkan kepedulian konservasi, sekaligus partisipasi dalam penanaman satu miliar pohon di indonesia.
Indeks SRI KEHATITahun 2013, saham ANTAM yang dicatatkan di Bursa Efek indonesia, kembali masuk dalam indeks Sustainable and Responsible Investment Yayasan Keanekaragaman Hayati (Sri KEHATi) indonesia. Penilaian Sri KEHATi dilakukan berdasarkan kinerja sebuah perseroan dalam bidang lingkungan, komunitas, tata kelola perseroan, HAM, perilaku bisnis, dan praktik ketenagakerjaan serta kepatutan kerja.

ANTAM Plants 50,000 Mangrove Trees on Critical Area of Pulau Rambut, Thousand IslandsANTAM has planted 50,000 mangrove trees on critical areas of Pulau rambut, Thousand islands, which is a wildlife sanctuary area for thousand of birds conservation. The mangrove planting on this island is part of more than 1.4 million trees planted by ANTAM as our commitment to participate in managing critical land outside the mine, as well as aims to raise awareness of conservation and participation in the planting of one billion trees in indonesia.
SRI KEHATI Indexin 2013, ANTAM shares listed on the indonesia Stock Exchange were relisted of indonesian Sustainable and responsible investment index of KEHATi (Sri KEHATi) 2012. Sri KEHATi assessment is based on a companys performance in the areas of environment, community, corporate governance, human rights, business conduct, and employment practices as well as work fairness.

Penutupan Tambang Bauksit Kijang [MM10]Pengelolaan penutupan tambang dilaksanakan sesuai SK Bupati Bintan No.313/iX/2006 tentang Kuasa Pertambangan, dan berlaku hingga 22 September 2009, dengan jangka waktu tiga tahun untuk persiapan penutupan tambang.
Kegiatan yang dijalankan selama tiga tahun dinyatakan telah berhasil dengan baik oleh Pemerintah Kabupaten Bintan. Atas dasar penilaian tersebut, ANTAM telah mendapatkan persetujuan penutupan tambang dari Pemerintah Kabupaten Bintan pada tanggal 19 Juli 2013.

Kijang Bauxite Mine Closure [MM10]The operations were an implementation of Bintan regent Decree No.313/iX/2006 on Mining Concession, and valid until September 22, 2009, with a three years time closure preparation.
The activities carried out for three years were declared successful by Bintan regency Government. Based on this assessment, ANTAM has received approval on the mine closure from Bintan regency Government on July 19, 2013.

Tahun 2013 telah kita lalui bersama dengan berbagai pengalaman berharga. Besar harapan kita agar semua itu dapat menjadi bekal bagi kebaikan di tahun selanjutnya.
Dewan Komisaris menyampaikan penghargaan dan terima kasih kepada seluruh pemangku kepentingan ANTAM yang telah menunjukkan kerja sama yang baik dalam menjaga keberlanjutan Perseroan. Ucapan terima kasih khususnya juga kami tujukan kepada anggota Direksi yang telah menunaikan masa tugasnya pada tahun 2013 dengan baik. Kepada penerusnya, kami sematkan harapan agar dapat meneruskan kerjasama yang baik, sehingga pengelolaan Perseroan dapat terus menghasilkan kinerja yang tinggi.
Walaupun telah banyak penghargaan dan prestasi yang dicapai ANTAM sepanjang tahun 2013, kami tetap melihat bahwa masih banyak peluang untuk tumbuh menjadi lebih baik. Hal ini mencakup beberapa aspek, di antaranya teknologi, sistem, dan konsep keberlanjutan. Ketiganya menjadi semakin penting di saat semua Perseroan dituntut untuk memperbaharui diri dengan melintasi tantangan dan menjaga keberlanjutan.
D a l a m h a l t e k n o l o g i d a n sistem, keduanya saling terkait dan menjadi dasar efisiensi serta peningkatan keunggulan kompetitif di era globalisasi. Teknologi tidak seharusnya menjadi barang baru yang disegani, melainkan justru menjadi sahabat dalam membangun kinerja yang lebih tinggi. Kemampuan bersaing dapat ditingkatkan dengan memanfaatkan teknologi tepat guna. inilah yang perlu menjadi perhatian kita semua.
Kinerja keberlanjutan dalam aspek sosial telah memperlihatkan konsistensi, di antaranya dengan terus dilakukannya pembinaan bagi para mitra. Kemandirian para mitra ini diharapkan dapat menjadi tonggak ekonomi yang kuat bagi masyarakat sekitar, terutama bagi pertumbuhan ekonomi di daerah tersebut. Special gratitude also goes to members of the Board of Directors who have fulfilled their term in 2013 well. To their successors, we hope to continue the good cooperation, so that the management of the Company can continue to have high performance results.
Although ANTAM received many awards and achievements throughout the year 2013, we still see that there are still rooms to grow for the better. This includes several aspects,
namely technology, system, and sustainability concept. All three are becoming increasingly important in time of all companies are required to innovate in overcoming challenges and ensuring sustainability.

Kami memahami bahwa proses ini memerlukan waktu yang tidak sebentar dan harus dilaksanakan secara bertahap. Selain untuk menunjukkan bahwa ANTAM memiliki tanggung jawab lingkungan untuk melakukan mitigasi perubahan iklim, hal ini juga dilaksanakan guna mendukung komitmen pemerintah menurunkan emisi gas rumah kaca sebesar 26% di tahun 2020.
Ketika hal ini terus dilakukan, kami percaya bahwa setiap unit bisnis ANTAM pada akhirnya akan mampu berkontribusi dalam mengurangi pemakaian emisi, sehingga peran serta ANTAM sungguh-sungguh menjadi berarti. We support ANTAMs efforts to continue to improve itself in participation in various national and international initiatives, including those related to sustainability communications in general, especially reporting. This demonstrates that ANTAM is responsive to the situation changes, as well as sensitive to the demands of the national and global stakeholders to maintain transparency in its performance reporting.
One of the initiatives undertaken during 2013 was a change in the organizational structure of Corporate Social responsibility (CSr), which is expected to further strengthen ANTAM in the management of social and environmental aspects. This change indicated more attention and commitment of ANTAM to support the achievement of sustainable development goals at all areas of operation. in addition, we highly appreciate the continuation of initiative in biodiversity management, especially in the area of UBP Emas, which has drawn a lot of support and appreciation from various parties. Sepanjang 2013, ANTAM banyak menuai prestasi di bidang tata kelola Perseroan, di antaranya adalah diperolehnya penghargaan juara umum pada Annual Report Award 2013. Demikian juga, secara konsisten ANTAM menunjukkan prestasi dalam pelaporan keberlanjutan yang diberikan dalam Sustainability Reporting Award 2013. Kedua bentuk penghargaan tersebut telah menjadi penanda kinerja ANTAM dalam menegakkan prinsip-prinsip tata kelola Perseroan yang baik, terutama transparansi.
Oleh karena itu, Kami menyambut positif keputusan Direksi untuk menggunakan standar pelaporan keberlanjutan yang terbaru, yaitu Standard Reporting Guideline dari Global Reporting Initiative (Gri) versi 4 atau G4. Dalam panduan standar ini uji materialitas sangat ditekankan untuk memilih informasi yang penting disajikan bagi para pemangku kepentingan. Oleh karena itu pembinaan hubungan dengan pemangku kepentingan (stakeholder engagement) dan evaluasi kinerja keberlanjutan menjadi hal yang utama dalam pelaporan. Dengan dipergunakannya standar Gri G4, laporan keberlanjutan kini tidak lagi menginformasikan sebanyak-banyaknya aspek, melainkan lebih menekankan pada kedalaman aspek yang memang material untuk diungkapkan.
Dewan Komisaris mendukung adanya peningkatan dan pembaruan pada strategi keberlanjutan yang dilakukan mulai tahun 2013. Strategi ini di antaranya dengan menindaklanjuti hasil evaluasi ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard, memperbaharui rencana induk tanggung jawab sosial Perseroan (CSr Master Plan), serta meningkatkan kinerja Program Kemitraan dan Bina Lingkungan (PKBL).
Dewan Komisaris mengharapkan semua pemangku kepentingan dapat terus mendukung ANTAM dalam mengatasi semua tantangan di tahun 2014. Throughout 2013 ANTAM reaped many achievements in corporate governance, including overall winner at the 2013 Annual report Awards. ANTAM has also been consistently demonstrating outstanding achievement in sustainability reporting at the 2013 Sustainability reporting Awards. Both awards signified ANTAM s performance in upholding the principles of good corporate governance, especially transparency.
Therefore, we welcome positively the decision of the Board of Directors to use the latest sustainability reporting standard, Standard reporting Guidelines of the Global reporting initiative (Gri) version 4 or G4. in the guideline standard, materiality is emphasized to select important information to be presented to the stakeholders. Thus, stakeholder engagement and evaluation of sustainability performance become the main issues in this reporting. By using the Gri G4, sustainability reporting is no longer inform as many aspects, but puts more emphasis on the depth of the material aspect to be disclosed.
Board of Commissioners supports the improvement and renewal of the sustainability strategy conducted beginning in 2013. This strategy includes a follow-up of ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard evaluation results, updating the CSr Master Plan, as well as improve the performance of the Partnership and Community Stewardship Program (PKBL).
Board of Commissioners hope that all stakeholders will continue to support ANTAM in overcoming all the challenges in 2014. in addition, we also look forward to receiving stakeholders constructive input in the form of evaluation on ANTAMs business process and performance to ensure sustainability.

PARA PEMANGKU KEPENTINGAN YANG TERHORMAT,
Di tahun 2012 yang lalu, kami sudah menyampaikan tantangan yang harus kami hadapi dalam menerapkan prinsip-prinsip keberlanjutan di setiap kegiatan bisnis yang kami jalani. Tidak hanya di ANTAM saja, namun tantangan ini dihadapi oleh sebagian besar Perseroan pertambangan, baik di indonesia maupun di dunia. Tantangan tersebut telah kita lewati bersama.
Kini, di tahun 2013, tantangan telah kami jadikan peluang untuk tetap bertahan dan terus menjaga nilai keberlanjutan. Tentu tidak mudah, dikala harga sebagian besar harga komoditi tambang turun tajam. Namun kami tetap percaya bahwa setiap kesempatan yang lahir dari sebuah tantangan akan menjadikan kita semakin kuat bertahan.
Keber lanjutan dalam aspek ekonomi tetap kami pertahankan dengan pencapaian laba di tahun 2013 sebesar rp410 miliar. Meskipun mengalami penurunan karena harga komoditas yang masih rendah, pencapaian ini tentunya akan mendatangkan manfaat bagi segenap pemangku kepentingan.
Dalam aspek sosial, kami masih terus berkomitmen menjalankan prinsip keberlanjutan yang seimbang berdasarkan kemanfaatan setiap program yang kami jalankan. Salah satunya adalah penutupan tambang bauksit di Kijang, penutupan tambang nikel di Gebe, dan tambang pasir besi di Kutoarjo. Proses penutupan ketiga tambang tersebut yang berjalan lancar mencerminkan bukti nyata komitmen ANTAM untuk tumbuh dan berkembang seiring dengan peningkatan kualitas hidup masyarakat di sekitar tambang.
Selain itu, komitmen ANTAM dalam menjaga kelestarian lingkungan terus ditingkatkan. Di tahun 2013 kami meluncurkan ANTAM Green Standard yang menyatukan dan menyeragamkan seluruh kebijakan, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) dan Work Instruction (Wi) bidang lingkungan yang selama ini telah ada dan berlaku di seluruh

in 2012, we have mentioned the challenges that we had to face in applying sustainability principles in every business activity that we undertake. ANTAM was not alone, as the challenges were faced by most of the mining companies, both in indonesia and worldwide. We have gone through these challenges together.
in 2013, we took the challenge as an opportunity to survive and continue to maintain the sustainability values. it was not easy, when prices of most mining commodities fell sharply. Somehow, we keep on believing that every opportunity emerged from a challenge will make us stronger to survive.
W e m a i n t a i n e c o n o m i c s u s t a i n a b i l i t y t h r o u g h achievement of net profit in 2013 at rp410 billion. Despite the decline due to commodity prices were still low, this achievement will certainly bring benefits to all stakeholders.

Di tahun 2013, kami menambah 1 unit kerja khusus di Direktorat Umum & CSr yang menangani Program Kemitraan dan Bina Lingkungan (PKBL). Fungsi ini semula digabung dalam unit kerja Community Development. Hal ini mencerminkan bertambahnya perhatian dan komitmen kami terhadap implementasi pengelolaan risiko sosial.
ANTAM menjawab tantangan yang paling signifikan pada sebuah perusahaan tambang, yaitu dengan menjaga kesinambungan pasokan material bagi kegiatan produksi. ini artinya Perseroan dituntut untuk dapat mengoptimalkan pemanfaatan material di area tambang yang sudah ada, serta menemukan deposit cadangan dan sumber daya mineral lainnya. Dalam rangka pemenuhan kebutuhan pasokan bahan tambang, di tahun 2013, ANTAM membuka satu unit bisnis baru di kecamatan Tayan, Kabupaten Sanggau, Kalimantan Barat. Unit Bisnis Pertambangan Bauksit di Tayan dibentuk sebagai pengganti tambang bauksit di Kijang yang ditutup, dan persiapan pemenuhan bahan baku bauksit untuk pabrik Chemical Grade Alumina (CGA) milik PT indonesia Chemical Alumina (iCA) yang merupakan anak perusahaan ANTAM.

These changes were to adapt to the dynamics of an organization, which is expected that each individual in ANTAM to work optimally and effectively for the Companys growth. in 2013, we added one special unit in the General & CSr Directorate to handle the Partnership and Community Stewardship Program (PKBL). This function was originally incorporated in Community Development unit. This reflects our increasing attention and commitment to the implementation of social risk management.
ANTAM responds to the most significant challenge to a mining company, which is to maintain the continuity of material supply for production activities. This means the Company is required to be able to optimize the use of material in the existing mine areas, and find the deposit of reserves and other mineral resources. in order to meet the supply of mining material, in 2013 ANTAM opened a new business unit in Tayan District, Sanggau regency, West Kalimantan. The Bauxite Mining Business Unit in Tayan was formed as a replacement of bauxite mine in Kijang, Bintan regency, riau islands Province that had been closed, and preparations to supply bauxite raw material for Chemical Grade Alumina (CGA) plant owned by PT indonesia Chemical Alumina (iCA), which is a subsidiary of ANTAM.

Tantangan signifikan lain terkait keputusan pemerintah untuk memberlakukan pelarangan ekspor bahan tambang mentah, dan keharusan membangun pabrik pengolahan atau smelter. Pelarangan ekspor bahan tambang mentah secara langsung berpotensi mempengaruhi perolehan laba Perseroan, mengingat kami tak bisa lagi melakukan ekspor tanpa izin dari pemerintah, dan pembangunan smelter menuntut konsekuensi yang tidak ringan. Namun, hal tersebut tidak menyurutkan langkah kami untuk melakukan hilirisasi pertambangan sebagai salah satu strategi kami untuk terus tumbuh secara berkelanjutan.

Sebagai Badan Usaha Milik Negara menempatkan ANTAM pada posisi yang unik, yaitu harus mampu menghasilkan keuntungan bagi negara dan juga pemegang saham ANTAM lainnya, sekaligus sebagai motor penggerak perubahan sosial dan ekonomi bagi masyarakat. Keunikan tersebut selalu kami ingat dalam setiap aktivitas operasi kami, sehingga mendorong kami untuk terus memastikan keseimbangan antara keberlanjutan dari aspek ekonomi, sosial dan lingkungan. Kami sadar bahwa keberlanjutan Perseroan yang disertai dengan terjaganya kelestarian alam dan meningkatnya kesejahteraan sosial akan meningkatkan efisiensi dan efektivitas Perseroan dalam menjalankan kegiatan operasi. Hal ini tentunya merupakan kunci bagi keberlanjutan ANTAM hingga di masa depan.
Another significant challenge as the Governments decision to enforce restriction on exports of raw mining materials, and the obligation to build a processing plant or smelter. restriction on exports of raw mining materials, directly has potential to affect the Companys profitability, since we can no longer export without a license from the Government, and smelter construction requires heavy consequences. However, this should not discourage us to carry out downstream mining as one of our strategies to continue our sustainable growth.

Selama tahun 2013 ada perubahan operasional yang bersifat signifikan, di antaranya: [G4-13]1. rapat Umum Pemegang Saham (rUPS) pada 30 April
2013 di Jakarta, telah menetapkan pejabat baru Dewan Komisaris dan Direksi. Uraian lengkap tentang hal ini dapat disimak dalam Laporan Tahunan 2013.
2. Perseroan melalui PT iCA, yakni perusahaan patungan dengan Showa Denko K.K (SDK) Jepang, telah melaksanakan uji coba operasi (commissioning) pabrik pengolahan bijih bauksit menjadi CGA di Tayan. Uji coba dimulai pada 28 Oktober 2013.

During 2013 there was significant operational changes, including: [G4-13]1. General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) on April 30,
2013, in Jakarta, has appointed new members of the Board of Commissioners and Board of Directors. A full description on this topic can be found in the 2013 Annual report.
2. The Company, through PT indonesia Chemical Alumina (iCA), a joint venture with Showa Denko K.K (SDK), Japan, has conducted commissioning a bauxite processing plant into Chemical Grade Alumina (CGA) in Tayan, West Kalimantan. The commissioning started on October 28, 2013.

3. Perubahan struktur organisasi: i. Pada 1 Agustus 2013, Perseroan menambah
1 unit bisnis baru, yaitu UBP Bauksit sebagai pengganti tambang bauksit di Kijang yang ditutup, dan persiapan pemenuhan bahan baku bauksit untuk pabrik CGA milik PT iCA yang merupakan anak perusahaan ANTAM.
ii. Struktur organisasi Direktorat Umum & CSr menambah 1 unit kerja khusus yang menangani PKBL, yang semula bergabung dalam unit kerja Community Development (comdev). [G4-42]
4. Setelah melakukan semua kewajiban yang tertuang dalam dokumen rencana Penutupan Tambang (rPT), Perseroan mendapatkan persetujuan penutupan tambang bauksit di Kijang dari Pemerintah Kabupaten Bintan pada 19 Juli 2013, persetujuan penutupan tambang nikel di Pulau Gebe dari Pemerintah Kabupaten Halmahera Tengah pada 26 Agustus 2013, dan persetujuan penutupan tambang pasir besi di Kutoarjo dari Pemerintah Kabupaten Purworejo pada 21 November 2013. 5. Perubahan alokasi biaya PKBL yang semula berasal dari penyisihan laba bersih menjadi anggaran Perseroan.
6. Pembukaan Butik Emas Logam Mulia (LM) sebagai salah satu strategi ekspansi pemasaran logam mulia, serta peningkatan pelayanan dan edukasi kepada masyarakat. Butik Emas LM dibuka di Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Makassar, dan Palembang.
ANTAM selalu menerapkan praktik-praktik pertambangan yang baik dalam melaksanakan kegiatan pertambangan. Hal in i antara la in d iwujudk an dengan tetap memperhatikan kelestarian fungsi lingkungan, yang berpedoman pada Dokumen Analisis Dampak Lingkungan (ANDAL), penerapan rencana Pemantauan Lingkungan (rPL) dan rencana Pengelolaan Lingkungan (rKL), Dokumen rencana Penutupan Tambang (rPT ) dan inisiatif kegiatan tanggung jawab sosial yang dilakukan, salah satunya mengacu pada iSO26000. Khusus untuk pendekatan risiko perseroan secara keseluruhan, ANTAM memberikan informasi lengkap dalam Laporan Tahunan 2013. [G4-14]
3. Organizational structure change: i. On August 1, 2013, the Company added a new
business unit, Bauxite Mining Business Unit (UBPB) in Tayan as a replacement for bauxite mine in Kijang, that has been closed, and preparation to supply bauxite raw material for CGA plant owned by iCA, a subsidiary of ANTAM.
ii. Organizational structure of General Affairs & CSr Directorate added 1 special unit to handle Par tnership and Community Stewardship Program, which was previously under Community Development unit. [G4-42]
4. After fulfilling all obligations stipulated in Mine Closure Plan (rPT), the Company received an approval for bauxite mine closure in Kijang from Bintan regency Government on July 19, 2013, approval for nickel mine closure in Gebe island from Central Halmahera regency on August 26, 2013, and approval for iron sand mine closure in Kutoarjo from Purworejo regency Government, Central Java, on November 21, 2013. 5. Change of PKBL cost allocation that originally derived from net profit allowance into the Companys budget.
6. The opening of Gold Boutique as a marketing expansion strategy of precious metals, as well as improve service and education to the public. Gold Boutiques have been opened in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Palembang and Makassar.
ANTAM always applies good mining principles in carrying out mining activities. it includes the preservation of environment function, which is based on the Analysis on Environmental impact (ANDAL) Document, the implementation of the Environmental Monitoring Plan (rPL), Environmental Management Plan (rKL) and Mine Closure Plan Document (rPT), as well as social responsibility initiatives with reference to iSO26000.
