Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time July 31/16

Blessed are the poor in spirit,  for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

We  can  overcome  the  tempta on

to  greed by helping  those who are

less fortunate than ourselves. What

is  given  to  others  is  not  lost  but  is

transformed  into  a  treasure  for

eternity.  In  the  evening  of  life  we

will  be  measured  by  the  good  we

have  done.        Rather  than  wrap

money  around  our  hearts,  we  are

urged  to  give  and  share  our  bless‐

ings with others in need . In the light of what Jesus says, each of

us has some hard thinking to do about our a tude towards pos‐

sessions. God is at the end of the line wai ng for us when life is

over.
