O presente Suplemento ao Diploma segue o modelo elaborado pela Comissão Europeia, peloConselho da Europa e pela UNESCO/CEPES. Tem por objectivo fornecer dados independentes esuficientes para melhorar a «transparência» internacional e o reconhecimento académico e profissionalequitativo das qualificações (diplomas, graus universitários, certificados, etc.). Destina-se a descrever anatureza, nível, contexto, conteúdo e estatuto dos estudos realizados com êxito pelo titular do diplomaoriginal a que este suplemento está apenso. São de excluir quaisquer juízos de valor, declarações deequivalência ou sugestões de reconhecimento. Devem ser preenchidas as oito secções; caso contrário,deve ser apresentada a justificação.



O ingresso no curso pode ser efectuado através do Concurso Nacional de Acesso ao Ensino

Superior e ainda através de Concursos Especiais de Acesso, Regimes Especiais de Acesso e

Regimes de Mudança de Curso e Transferência.

Para se candidatarem ao ensino superior através do concurso nacional os estudantes devem

satisfazer as condições referidas na secção 8 (Condições de Acesso ao Ensino Superior).

4. INFORMAÇÕES SOBRE O CONTEÚDO E OS RESULTADOS OBTIDOS

4.1. REGIME DE ESTUDOS:

4.2. REQUISITOS DO PROGRAMA DE ESTUDOS

O curso está estruturado em anos curriculares. Estes formatam-se em disciplinas. O conjunto

de disciplinas de cada ano curricular tem como máximo 35 unidades de crédito (UBI) ou 60

ECTS.

O número total de unidade de crédito (UBI/ECTS) necessárias à conclusão do curso é de

159/300 sendo obtido por acumulação de créditos associados a disciplinas integradas nas

áreas científicas (obrigatórias/opcionais) constantes da estrutura curricular.

O tempo lectivo de um ano escolar é de 30 semanas ( Disciplinas anuais – 30 semanas,

Disciplinas semestrais – 15 semanas ). O ano escolar, que compreende os períodos lectivo e

de avaliação, tem a duração de 42 semanas.

O aluno inscreve-se por norma nas disciplinas do plano de estudos, sequencialmente, por ano

curricular. A inscrição às disciplinas é feita no máximo a 45 unidades de crédito, das quais

até 35 unidades de crédito em primeira inscrição.

Os pormenores do programa de estudos incluindo as disciplinas em que obteve aprovação

encontram-se em anexo.

4.4 SISTEMA DE CLASSIFICAÇÃO E EVENTUAIS ORIENTAÇÕES SOBRE ATRIBUIÇÃO DE NOTAS

O sistema de classificação de cada disciplina da qualificação é expresso na escala de 0 a 20 de

acordo com o “Sistema de Avaliação” que consta na secção 8, sendo a classificação 10/20 em

todas as disciplinas do plano de estudos, o requisito para aprovação e obtenção do diploma.

A classificação final da qualificação obtêm-se a partir de uma ponderação das classificações

das disciplinas correlacionadas pelos valores das unidades de crédito (UBI) e dos coeficientes

de ponderação por área científica e ano curricular, respectivamente, em conformidade com o

estabelecido nas secções 4.3 e 6.1.

8. INFORMAÇÃO SOBRE O SISTEMA NACIONAL DE ENSINO SUPERIOR

O Sistema de ensino básico e secundário:

A Lei de Bases do Sistema Educativo ( Lei n.º 46/86 de14 de Outubro, posteriormente alterada, nalguns dosseus articulados, pela Lei n.º 115/97 de 19 deSetembro), estabelece o quadro geral do sistemaeducativo.A educação escolar desenvolve-se em três níveis: osensinos básico, secundário e superior. A educação pré-escolar é opcional e destina-se a crianças com idadesentre os 3 anos e a idade de ingresso no 1.º ciclo doensino básico. A educação pré–escolar é facultativa e éministrada em estabelecimentos de educação pré–escolar suportados pelo Ministério da Educação (com acolaboração das autoridades locais e regionais) e outrosorganismos públicos e privados.O ensino básico é universal, obrigatório e gratuito ecompreende três ciclos sequenciais, sendo o 1.º dequatro anos, o 2.º de dois e o 3.º de três anos.O ensino secundário é facultativo e compreende um ciclode três anos (10.º, 11.º e 12.º anos de escolaridade). Égarantida a permeabilidade entre os cursospredominantemente orientados para a vida activa e oscursos predominantemente orientados para oprosseguimento de estudos.

Condições de acesso ao ensino superior

O ingresso em cada instituição e curso de ensinosuperior está sujeito ao numerus clausus.Para se candidatarem ao ensino superior através doconcurso nacional os estudantes devem satisfazer asseguintes condições:

- Ter aprovação num curso de ensino secundário ouhabilitação legalmente equivalente;

- Ter realizado as provas de ingresso exigidas poresse curso nesse estabelecimento;

- Ter uma nota de candidatura mínima exigida porcada estabelecimento;

- Satisfazer os pré-requisitos caso sejam exigidospara esse curso nesse estabelecimento.

Organização do ensino superior

O ensino superior português está dividido em doissubsistemas: ensino universitário e ensino superiorpolitécnico.O ensino universitário é ministrado em instituiçõesuniversitárias públicas e privadas e o ensino superiorpolitécnico é ministrado em instituições de ensinosuperior não universitárias públicas e privadas.As instituições de ensino superior particular ecooperativo carecem de reconhecimento prévio doMinistério da Educação.As instituições universitárias e politécnicas conferem osgraus de bacharel e de licenciado. Os graus mestre edoutor são conferidos unicamente pelas instituiçõesuniversitárias.Os cursos conducentes ao grau de bacharel têm umduração de 3 anos.Os cursos conducentes ao grau de licenciado podemvariar de 4 a 6 anos dependendo da área de estudos.Os cursos conducentes ao grau mestre têm uma duraçãode 4 semestres compreendendo a frequência do curso deespecialização e a apresentação de uma dissertaçãooriginal. Podem candidatar-se aos cursos de mestrado oslicenciados com a classificação mínima de 14 valores eexcepcionalmente, após apreciação curricular a realizarpelo órgão competente da instituição de ensino superior,os licenciados com a classificação inferior a 14 valores.

O grau de doutor só é concedido pela instituiçãouniversitária após a elaboração e defesa de uma teseoriginal (tese de doutoramento). Podem candidatar-se aeste grau os titulares do grau mestre ou equivalente, oslicenciados com a classificação mínima de 16 valores ouqualificação equivalente e os detentores de um currículocientífico, académico e profissional que ateste capacidadepara a habilitação ao grau de doutor, após apreciaçãocurricular realizada pelo órgão competente dauniversidade que confere o grau.

Where information is not provided, an explanation should give the reason why.

The academic year has a duration of 42 weeks including lectures and assessment periods.

The lectures run for 30 weeks (annual course units) or 15 weeks (semestrial course units).

The enrolment in each academic year follows the sequence of course units defined in the

curriculum. The maximum UBI credits allowed for each enrolment is 45 from which up to 35

credits correspond to new course units.

4.4 GRADING SCHEME AND, IF AVAILABLE, GRADE DISTRIBUTION GUIDANCE:

Each course unit is given a grade on a scale from 0 to 20 (see section 8, “Assessment

System/Grading System”). A minimum grade of 10/20 is required to pass each of the course

units of the curriculum and for the awarding of the diploma.

The overall classification derives from the weighting of the grades of the course units

correlated by (UBI) credits and from the weighting coefficients by scientific area and

academic year, respectively, in accordance with sections 4.3 and 6.1.

5.1. ACCESS TO FURTHER STUDY:

The qualification allows applying for the degrees of Mestre (ISCED 5A) and Doutor (ISCED6)

in accordance with section 8 (“Structure of the Higher Education”).

5.2. PROFESSIONAL STATUS (IF APPLICABLE)

• The qualification prepares for legislators, senior officials and managesr without

specification, according to the International Standard Classification of Occupation (ISCO

1988).

• The qualification allows applying for membership to the Câmara de Técnicos Oficiais de

Contas (Portuguese Council of Accountants) for registration as Técnico Oficial de Contas

(Certified Accountant).

• The qualification allows applying for membership to the Ordem dos Economistas

(Portuguese Council of Economists).

Contas (Portuguese Council of Auditors), for registration as Revisor Oficial de Contas

(Certified Auditor).

8. INFORMATION ON THE NATIONAL HIGHER EDUCATION SYSTEM

System of basic and secondary education:

The Comprehensive Law on the Education System (Law nº.46/86, of 14 October, subsequently amended in respect ofcertain clauses by Law nº. 115/97, of 19 September)establishes the framework for the education system.School education encompasses the following stages ofteaching: basic, secondary and higher education. Pre-schooleducation is optional and designed for children between theages of three and the age for admission to the first cycle ofbasic education. Pre-school education is run free in nurseryclasses of the public sector supported by Ministry ofEducation (with the collaboration of regional or localauthorities) and other public or private organisations.Basic education is universal compulsory and free, andconsists of 3 consecutive cycles. The first cycle lasts for 4years, the second cycle for 2 years and the third cycle lastsfor 3 years.Secondary education is not compulsory and it comprises a 3-years cycle (10th, 11th and 12th years of schooling).Permeability is guaranteed between courses mainly geared toworking life (technology courses) and those mainly geared tocontinued studies (general courses).

General admission requirements

Access to higher education is subject to a numerus clausus.In order to quality for admission to higher education throughthe national competition students are required to:- Have successfully completed the 12th year of schooling orequivalent;- Have completed the national specific examinations inaccordance with the higher education course the studentwishes to attend;- Have obtained a minimum mark when required;- Have fulfilled the prerequisites for the higher educationcourse the student wishes to attend, if required.

Structure of the higher education

Higher education in Portugal is devided into two subsystems:university and non-university higher education (polytecnicaleducation) and it is provided in public and private universitiesand non-university higher education institutions (both publicand private).Private higher education institutions cannot operate withouthaving been recognised by Ministry of Education.Both Universities and Polytechnic institutions can award thebacharel and licenciado degrees, while the degrees of Mestreand Doutor can only be awarded by universities.Courses leading to the bacharel degree have a normalduration of three years, are designed to train professionals tohigher education standard, preparing them to enter thelabour market.Course leading to the licenciado degree usually take 4 years,but may last for 5 or 6 years, depending on the field of thestudies.Courses leading to the mestre degree have a duration of 4semesters and include the attendance of lectures and thepreparation and discussing of an original dissertation. It isonly open to those who have obtained at least 14 marks,along a scale of 0 to 20, in their former licenciado or a legallyequivalent degree. Holders of a licenciado degree may alsobe admitted to a mestrado course on the basis of his/hercurriculum even if the final mark is bellow 14.The doutor degree is only awarded by a university institutionafter the elaboration and defence of an original thesis(doctoral thesis). This degree is only open to the holders ofthe mestre degree or equivalent and to those who have been

awarded the licenciado degree or a legally equivalentqualification with a final mark of 16.Holders of a relevante academic, scientific and professionalcurriculum may also apply to the doutor degree after analysisof the curriculum by the competent academic body.

Assessment system / Grading system

The result achieved in a subject, whether through continuousassessment or in an examination, is generally expressedalong scale from 0 to 20 marks. The lowest passing grade is10.The final grading of a course is shown on the relevant diplomaor degree certificate along a scale of 0 to 20 Marks (except onthe certificate for the degree of mestre and doutor where thefinal grade is normally expressed in a qualitative way i.e.Bom(Good), Bom com distinção (Good with distinction)and Muito Bom (Very Good).A result, instead of a number, may be entered on diplomas ordegree certificates, with the following equivalences:

10 to 13 marks Adequate14 to 15 marks Good16 to 17 marks Good with distinction18 to 19 marks Very Good with distinction20 marks Magna cum laude
