Invite to the way of your Rabbwith wisdom and beautiful preaching; (16:125)

Say [O Prophet!]: This is my way, resting upon conscious insight accessibleto reason, I am calling [you all] unto Allah I and they who follow me. (12.108)

Convey [teaching] from me even if it be [only] a [single] aayah. (Bukhari)

    WHY DA`WAH?

    NEED OF THE TIME

    a. The pathetic conditions of Muslims today

This is because Allah would never change (or withdraw) the blessingswith which He has graced a people until they change what is withinthemselves. (8:53)

Allah does not change the conditions of a people unless theychange what is within themselves. (13:11)

    NEED OF THE TIME

By its very nature evil has a tendency to spread(like cancer) unless it is checked or resisted.

Materialism has always existed in the past, but inmodern times it exists in more attractive garbs.

It is promoted using catchy terms, such as art, culture, pragmatism, freedom, human rights, etc.

Gay marriage is gradually becoming acceptable in the presentcivilized and open democratic society !

    b. Spread of evil and materialism

    NEED OF THE TIME

    b.Spread of evil and materialism

Whosoever of you sees an evil action, let him change it with his hand;and if he is not able to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is not ableto do [even that], then with his heart; but that is the weakest of faith.

    (Muslim)

A note of caution:This hadith does not mean that you should take law in your own hands;there are proper ways and means which need to be followed.

    NEED OF THE TIME

    c. Lack of da`wahorganizations

As hospitals & health-care units are needed for the physical health of apeople, we also need something to serve for the moral & spiritual health.

    - ignorance

    - misunderstandings- suspicion

    Absence of da`wah leads to:

    in the minds of non-Muslims,

and thereby to: mistrust & conflict.

    a. A perpetual reward

When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but [he continues to receivefurther reward on] three [counts]: recurring charity, or knowledgeby which people benefit, or a pious son who prays for him. (Muslim)

    A REWARDING ACTIVITY

He who calls [people to righteousness], there would be reward [assured]

for him like the rewards of those who adhered to it, without their rewardsbeing diminished in any respect. (Muslim, Ahmed, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawood )

One who guides to something good has a reward similar to that of its doer.

    (Muslim)

    12

By Allah, if Allah were to guide one man through you it would bebetter for you than the [prized] red camels. (Bukhari, Muslim)

(The mention of red camels, or the best of camels, refers here to themost cherished of ones possessions.)

    A REWARDING ACTIVITY

    b. Other rewards

For Allah to guide one man through you, is better for you than allthat the sun has shone over.

    WHY DA`WAH?

    13

    A REWARDING ACTIVITY

In the process of inviting people to Islam, we ourselves get benefited,in at least in two ways:

    c. Self-reform

1- Our own knowledge of Islam increases, since we ourselves need to know first before we communicate to others.

2- Our own faith gets strengthened; we become good practicing Muslim,

since we have to practice ourselves what we preach; setting an example.

Knowledge of differing views of others broadens our vision & experience. This helps us to develop ways and means to reach out to them.

The more we interact with others, the more it leads to self-improvement.

Whoever is granted wisdom has indeed been granted

abundant good / something tremendously beneficial;but none reflect except people of insight. (2:269)

Thinking and making the best use of available

    knowledge; thoughtful application of learning.

    DA`WAH APPROACH

    NON-MUSLIMS = Brothers / Sisters in Humanity

Refer: Our earlier discussion on WHO ARE NON-MUSLIMS ?

  • 8/14/2019 Syed Ali Dawah-2

    27/34

Our efforts should be directed to give the personevery possible help in this journey, in whateverway we can.

The process of transformation has to be gradualand steady.

Give the person some time and the necessary help to properly

understand what actually and ultimately required of him/her.If the faith has not taken roots in the heart and he/shejumps in, then chances are that he/she may also jump out.

    DA`WAH APPROACH

A da`ee is like a doctorConcerned with the "sickness" of the patient,(diagnosis & treatment),

    not his/her appearance or traits.

A da`ee is like a sales-person,Tries to sell the product in the best manner

Overlooks even if something in or about thecustomer is not likeable.

    'The customer is always right.'
