Using the Food Group Pyramid, the class explained the importance of good nutrition and a balanced diet in order to live a healthy life. It was a very informative and interesting assembly. House Music Competition This term’s theme for the House Music Competition—TV Shows— certainly got the Senior School’s toes tapping. Robinson (shown here) were the winning House with their entries ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ from Glee and Beyoncé's ‘If I Were a Boy.’ The competition was judged by teachers from the Music Department who awarded points for Entertainment Value and Quality of Singing. Wake came second with ‘Train’ and ‘Friends’ while Hesketh came third with ‘Happy’ and ‘Keep Holding On.’ All Houses achieved excellent standards of singing, entertainment and participation—well done everyone!

House Debating Competition Continued… The second round of the School’s House Debating Competition saw Oscar Powell and Sam Gibbs from Hesketh proposing the motion ‘This House believes video games are bad for society and people.’ Toby Morrison and Alex Smith from Robinson opposed the motion. Both sides spoke well and made their cases strongly to an opinionated audience. Robinson won the debate and will go forward into the final against Wake in a couple of week’s time.

Year 11 Intermediate Maths Challenge This year’s Intermediate Maths Challenge was held in February for the Year 11 pupils. As you will see, we had a good selection of gold, silver and bronze awards. Kylin Sun not only was Best in School but also qualified for the next round, called The Pink Kangaroo. She sat the exam on 20 March and so we are waiting to hear her results, which we hope will be in time for the next issue of The Pitsford Post. Well done to everyone who took part.

Sports Relief 2014 The whole Senior School took part in a Fancy Dress Sponsored Run in aid of Sports Relief 2014. As well as being lots of fun, the event raised funds for this great cause. See the next Pitsford Post for details of the total amount raised and for more lively photos.

PARENTS’ NOTICEBOARD

Sports Round Up ISA Rugby 7s Tournament Report We left School at 8.30 and after a very long journey, arrived at Lucton. Soon after, we played Lucton B and won by an impressive margin of 32, with Cai scoring an impressive 3 Tries. We then advanced to play Lucton A and after fighting hard, drew the game 21-21. Then we played Heathfield and thrashed them 38-5 with scores from Andy, Cai and Ethan. We then played Highclare and won 33-7 impressively. We advanced straight to the tournament final, playing Lucton B. We work incredibly hard with Sam Allwright supplying an amazing try-saving-tackle, after running most of the pitch’s length. Unfortunately we lost the game 21-0 and walked off the pitch exhausted. We had worked very hard. We came second overall, which is good, with tries from Andy, Cai, Ethan, Jack, Sam Allwright , Sam Gilkes and me!

If you have a message for other parents at Pitsford School, please let me know and I will include it in the next Pitsford Post
