Li ni uTCVN 8665:2011 chuyn i t TCN 68-160:1996 thnh Tiu chun Quc gia theo quy nh ti khon 1 iu 69 ca Lut Tiu chun v Quy chun k thut v im a khon 1 iu 6 Ngh nh s 127/2007/N-CP ngy 1/8/2007 ca Chnh ph quy nh chi tit thi hnh mt s iu ca Lut Tiu chun v Quy chun k thut. Tiu chun ny p dng cho cc loi si quang trong cc cp quang s dng trong mng vin thng nh cp quang treo, cp quang chn trc tip, cp quang trong cng b, cp quang trong ng hm, cp quang qua sng, cp quang th bin hoc i ven thm lc a. Tiu chun ny khng bao gm cc ch tiu ca cp quang nh bn c hc ca cp v bn ca cp i vi tc ng mi trng. Cc ch tiu ny p dng tiu chun quc gia tng ng.
