Appointment at Mido March 11 – 12 and 13
Oggi l’occhiale è una del-
le tante espressioni di
un mondo, quello dell’oc-
chialeria, che conta su più
comparti: lenti, macchinari,
componentistica e montatu-
re. E Mido è l’ombelico di
quel mondo, fulcro di un bu-
siness che coinvolge aziende
e operatori del settore a livel-
lo internazionale. Un punto di
riferimento capace di aggior-
narsi e di proporsi – edizione
dopo edizione – come vetrina
esclusiva di tutte le novità del
settore. In calendario dall’11
al 13 marzo 2012 a Milano,
per la quarantaduesima
volta, si conferma uno stru-
mento indispensabile alle
aziende per promuovere la
propria attività e – per gli ot-
tici, nazionali e internazionali
– un’occasione unica per co-
noscere le novità di prodotto,
per aggiornarsi e confrontar-
si, per cogliere le sfumature,
intuire le novità, leggere le
tendenze, carpire i nuovi
mood dell’eyewear in tutte le
sue sfaccettature.
Nuove date, Easy Mido
e la razionalizzazione
degli spazi
La fiera perfeziona la sua or-
ganizzazione e propone un
nuovo posizionamento in ca-
lendario: da domenica 11 a
martedì 13. Una scelta nata
per agevolare, da una parte, i
buyer stranieri che preferisco-
no concentrare le visite in fie-
ra durante la settimana lavo-
rativa, pur conservando la
possibilità di potervisi recare
anche in parte del weekend e
per favorire, dall’altra, anche
la visita degli ottici italiani e
dei Paesi limitrofi la domenica
e il lunedì, consueti giorni di
chiusura dei negozi di ottica
in molte città.
E’ nato anche “Easy Mido”:
in collaborazione con le più
importanti associazioni di ca-
tegoria, Mido ha organizzato
trasferimenti gratuiti per tutti
gli operatori italiani che vo-
gliono visitare il Salone.
Ultima, ma non meno impor-
tante è la razionalizzazione
degli spazi. Mido dedica par-
ticolare attenzione all’allesti-
mento espositivo, ritenendo-
lo un valore aggiunto. La
caratterizzazione e persona-
lizzazione dei singoli padiglio-
ni ha l’obiettivo di creare un
percorso visivo all’interno del-
la fiera rendendo ciascuna
area immediatamente rico-
noscibile: le avanguardie tec-
nologiche in fatto di materia-
li, lenti e accessori trovano la
loro dimensione nel padiglio-
ne Mido Tech (pad. 9) e nel
padiglione dedicato alle
lenti (pad. 22); le ultime ten-
denze moda dell’occhiale da
vista e da sole sono le prota-
goniste di Mido Fashion Di-
strict (pad. 13 e 15); le spe-
rimentazioni più avanzate in
fatto di forme, materiali e co-
lori illuminano l’ormai irrinun-
ciabile Mido Design Lab
(pad. 24, con apertura straor-
dinaria fino alle 22 domenica
11 marzo). L’Asian Pavilion
(pad. 9 e 11) raccoglie invece
le realtà produttive dell’Estre-
mo Oriente. A completare
l’offerta: aree dedicate e di
accoglienza, spazi congres-

interessate.www.

coloris illuminent l’incontournable Mido Design Lab (pav.
24) exceptionnellement ouvert jusqu’à 22h le dimanche 11
mars.

These days eyewear is one
of the many expressions
of a world, the eyewear
world, that encompasses sev-
eral sectors: lenses, machin-
ery, components and frames.
And Mido occupies a promi-
nent position in this land-
scape, at the very center of a
business activity that involves
eyewear companies and trade
people worldwide. A one-
stop shopping point that can
keep up to date and offer –
exhibition after exhibition –
an exclusive showcase of all
the new offerings in the sec-
tor. Slated for 11 to 13 March
2012 in Milan, for the 42nd
time, it is known to be a
must-attend event for com-
panies wanting to promote
their own business and – for
people from the national and
international eyewear com-
munity – a unique opportu-
nity to source new products,
keep on track and network,
get an idea of what’s happen-
ing, see what’s new, interpret
the trends, grasp the new
moods in eyewear in all its
multi-faceted aspects.
New dates and
a new spatial layout
A better layout and new
dates: Sunday 11 to Tuesday
13. The decision was made
to simplify matters for over-
seas buyers who prefer to
concentrate their visits to the
exhibition on week days but
who also want to be able to
go there during the weekend
as well as for opticians from
Italy and neighboring coun-
tries who visit on Sunday and
Monday when optical stores
are normally closed in many
cities.
Last, but no less important is
the new floor plan. Exhibi-
tion fittings are important for
Mido because it thinks they
are an added value. So each
pavilion has been given its
own special look to create a
visual tour inside the exhibi-
tion and make each area im-
mediately recognizable:
leading-edge technologies in
materials, lenses and acces-
sories are located in the Mi-
do Tech (pav. 9) pavilion
and in the pavilion dedicat-
ed to lenses (pav. 22); the
latest fashion trends in pre-
scription eyewear and sun-
glasses are the stars of Mido
Fashion District (pav. 13 e
15); frontier testing with
shapes, materials and colors
comes to life in the now un-
missable Mido Design Lab
(pav. 24, open until 10 p.m.
on Sunday 11Th, March).
The Asian Pavilion (pav. 9
e 11) features an overview of
product offerings from the
Far East. Last on the list: re-
served spaces and reception
areas, conference and teach-
ing spaces.

The portal of the eyewear world now on the social net-
works
The social networks are an essential communication channel
for everyone. They truly represent a parallel dimension of life,
and thus of the market. More and more companies in Interna-
tional Eyewear have a Facebook and Twitter profile, to comu-
nicate their noveties to the world in a less formal way, useful
above all for the swiftness with which it conveys the message
to thousands of interested people. www.Mido365.com has
decided to “land” on Facebook and Twitter, enabling readers
to follow the news in real time on the portal without ever los-
ing contact with the market, operators and the most interest-
ing news.
During the forthcoming edition of MIDO, from March 11 to
13, 2012, a twitter coverage of the event will thus be ensured,
with highlights, exclusives and tweets direct from the Halls of
Fieramilano Rho-Pero, hosting the fair.
varios compartimientos: lentes, maquinarias, componentes
y monturas.
tor a nivel internacional.

Mido Design Lab (pab. 24, con apertura extraordinaria
hasta las 22 del domingo 11 de marzo). El Asian Pavilion
(pab.

FERIAS
È stato un ottimo inizio
d’anno per il settore e
opti ’12, a Monaco di Baviera
in Germania dal 13 al 15
Gennaio, si è confermato co-
me un appuntamento tra i più
importanti di quelli in calen-
dario quest’anno.
Più di 450 gli espositori prove-
nienti da 27 paesi e 23.000 i
visitatori provenienti dalla
Germania e dall’estero.
L’atmosfera tra i partecipanti
è stata eccellente e gli ordini
sono stati molti nei quattro
padiglioni del salone, tutti al
completo. Quasi il 90 per cen-
to (nel 2011 era stato l’84,1%)
dei visitatori intervistati
ha valutato opti ‘12 da “buo-
no a molto buono”.
Sempre più aziende stanno
scegliendo opti ‘12 come
piattaforma ideale, proprio al-
l’inizio dell’anno,
in cui presentare al mercato le
loro nuove collezioni di oc-
chiali da sole. “Con i nuovi
espositori e designer prove-
nienti dalla Germania e dal-
l’estero - tra cui quelli di Giap-
pone e Stati Uniti - opti ha
ulteriormente sottolineato la
sua competenza nel design e
nella moda e ha ampliato la
sua copertura internaziona-
le” ha detto Dieter Dohr, CEO
e Presidente di GHM Gesell-
schaft Für Handwerksmessen
mbH, la società che organizza
opti. I visitatori sono stati mol-
to soddisfatti anche di questo:
l’84,3 per cento di loro ha de-
scritto la copertura interna-
zionale della fiera da “buono
a eccellente”. “opti ’12 au-
menta anche la sua importan-
za nella cadenza produttiva
perché sempre più aziende
stanno organizzando la tem-
pistica di produzione per arri-
vare a Monaco e presentare i
nuovi modelli e le innovazioni,
ha aggiunto Dieter Dohr.
“E’ la fiera più forte all’inizio
dell’anno, agisce come guida
ed offre orientamento per
quanto riguarda la tecnologia
e il design nel nuovo anno.”
Positivo nei suoi commenti
sulla fiera è stato anche Josef
May, Presidente dell’associa-
zione di settore SPECTARIS:
“Cos’altro di può dire di opti
’12? In tutti i tre giorni della
fiera non si sentivano altro
che lodi da tutti gli angoli del-
le sale affollate. Possiamo tut-
ti affermare che è stato un
evento davvero soddisfacen-
te. Gli affari sono andati bene,
l’atmosfera ottima, non ci so-
no stati problemi organizzati-
vi e si è visto un significativo
aumento dei visitatori stranie-
ri. Dopo il difficile periodo vis-
suto nella seconda metà del
2011 stiamo ora, per fortuna,
entrando nel nuovo anno
spinti dal nuovo vento che
soffiava a opti.”
Le opinioni sulla situazione
economica rimangono inva-
riate. Secondo l’indagine i vi-
sitatori professionisti del set-
tore guardano al futuro con
ottimismo.
Come lo scorso anno, più del-
la metà degli intervistati ha
descritto la situazione come
da “buona a eccellente”.
Il prossimo opti avrà luogo dal
25 al 27 Gennaio 2013 a Mo-
naco.

“bonne, sinon excellente”.
“Enfin, l’opti 2012 a aussi
une influence sur la cadence
de production car de plus en
plus de producteurs s’orga-
nisent pour présenter leurs
nouveaux modèles et leurs
toutes dernières innovations
à Munich” a ajouté Dieter
Dohr.
it was a resounding start to
the new year of business in
optics and eyewear, and al-
ready a highlight in the sector´s
calendar: opti ’12 in Munich,
between 13 and 15 January
2012. More than 450 exhibi-
tors from 27 countries and
23,000 visitors from Germany
and abroad came together
here to celebrate the best in vi-
sion. The mood among the
participants was excellent,
there was lots of valuable in-
formation and the order books
were filling up fast – in all four
fully booked exhibition halls.
Almost 90 percent (2011: 84.1
percent) of the trade visitors
surveyed rated opti ’12 as
“good to very good”. More
and more manufacturers are
choosing opti ’12 as an ideal
platform, right at the start of
the year, at which to present
their new collections of sun-
glasses to the market. “With
new exhibitors and designers
from Germany and abroad –

the US – opti has further un-
derlined its fashion and design
competence and broadened
its international coverage,”
said Dieter Dohr, CEO and
President of GHM Gesellschaft
für Handwerksmessen mbH,
the company that organises
opti. The visitors were also de-
lighted with this: 84.3 percent
of them described the interna-
tional coverage of the fair as
“good to excellent”.
“opti ’12 is further expanding
its reputation as a pace-setter.
More and more companies are
gearing their production cy-
cles to opti, which they make
use of as a presentation plat-
form for innovations and new
models,” continued Dieter
Dohr. “It is the strongest fair at
the start of the year, it acts as
a guide and offers orientation
as regards technology and de-
sign in the new year.”
Also positive in his comments
about the fair was Josef May,
chairman of the sector asso-
ciation SPECTARIS: “What
else is there to say about opti
’12? On all three days of the
fair, you could hear nothing
but praise from all corners of
the thronging halls. We can
all report it was a highly satis-
fying event. Business was
good, the atmosphere was
again superb, the organisa-
tional side was uncomplicat-
ed and there was a further in-
crease in the number of
visitors from abroad – follow-
ing the tough times in the sec-
ond half of 2011, we are now
thankfully entering the new
year with a following wind
from opti ’12,” said May.
Opinions about the economic
situation remained un-
changed. According to the
survey, the trade visitors are
looking forward optimistically
to the future. As last year,
over half of those surveyed
described the situation as
“good to excellent”.
The next opti will take place
from 25 to 27 January 2013
in Munich.

a excelente”.
do.

grande dimensioni e parti definitive altamente dettagliate. Accan-
li quali acciai, leghe cromo-cobalto, superleghe, alluminio e titanio.

Basata sulla tecnologia MEM (Melting and Extrusion Modeling),
to.
to, tattilità e funzionalità realistici contribuendo così alla definizio-
niche basate sugli stampi e tecnologie rapide.
i nuovi materiali

With 1.324 exhibitors com-
ing from 45 countries and
over 57,000 visitors, the 18th
edition of euroMold was
held in Frankfurt, November
29th-December 2nd 2011:
this is the international trade
fair for the manufacturing of
molds and tooling, the devel-
opment of projects and ap-
plications. The many innova-
tions on display, the
conventions and the themat-
ic exhibitions have highlight-
ed how the world of molds
and of molding is committed
in an evolution process aimed
at increasing the added value
of products, with special at-
tention for the latest technol-
ogies of rapid prototyping
and rapid manufacturing.
ATTenTIon To PowDers
Amongst the ‘rapid’ technolo-
gies, great interest has been
shown for laser processing sys-
tems of metal powders, capa-
ble of supplying both tools and
finished parts. EOS, historical
developer of such technologies
has brought to the fair the
most recent metal direct laser
sintering machine of its range:
EOSINT M 280. Featuring fast-
ness, surface quality and a build
chamber of 325 mm (110
more than the previous mod-
el), it is suitable to realize molds,
large components and highly
detailed final parts. Besides this
machine the company has dis-
played the sintering device for
parts in plastic material EOSINT
P 760 and, as evidence of the
progressive transition of these
systems towards e-manufac-
turing, it has proposed a series
of tools and materials devel-
oped to ensure better and
more sustainable processes. In
particular, the new EOSINT M
280 Comfort Powder Module
provides a safe handling of the
powders within the closed
process chamber, thus reduc-
ing the risks of exposure to
powders.
At EuroMold, concept Laser
(Hoffmann group) has pro-
posed its technology of layer
building through the casting
process, LaserCusing, where
the letter C of Concept Laser
and the word Fusing ‘melt’ in
a patented machining strate-
gy. The peculiarity of the Laser-
Cusing process lies in the spe-
cial advancement of the
machining that significantly
reduces stress in the compo-
nents, thus enabling to achieve
large solid parts, free of distor-
tions, from CAD 3D data. Such
possibility proves especially
useful in the construction of
mold inserts with conformed
cooling channels and finished
components, to realize proto-
types or preseries.
Exhibited in preview at Euro-
Mold 2011, the new machine
SLM 280 HL by sLM solu-
tions, developed together
with the Fraunhofer ILT, is
based on a particular double
beam technology, aimed at
achieving superior quality. In
a build chamber measuring
280x280x350 mm it is possi-
ble to process materials such
as steels, chromium-cobalt al-
loys, superalloys, aluminum
and titanium. Thanks to pat-
ented systems such as the bi-
directional load device or the
safe filtering system, the new
selective laser melting ma-
chine proves efficient and re-
liable.
reALITy Is In 3D
Voxeljet has presented its new
printer 3D VX1000, that com-
pletes the corporate range that
includes the large VX4000 and
the smaller VX800. Compact
yet featuring a build chamber
of 1060x600x500mm, the
VX1000 stands out for a high
performance printing head
that can attain a resolution of
600 dpi at a high construction
speed. Hence, it allows realiz-
ing objects with a complex ge-

accurate and detailed manner.
Visitors had the chance to see
in particular the results of 3D

make the new printer even
more eco-friendly.
The printer 3D ProJet 1000 by
3D systems can be easily
placed on the desk to achieve
resistant and durable plastic
material prototypes. This ma-
chine is fully part of the new
corporate policy aimed at mak-
ing rapid technologies availa-
ble to all. “ProJet 1000 – says
3D Systems- is designed for
those cost conscious designers
who need parts for functional
tests”. It manufactures compo-
nents in ivory color, with excel-
lent fine feature detail, smooth
surfaces and, if provided in the

LEGOR GROUP’S KLIAR COATINGPRECIOUS COLOUR
Quando si parla di un
gioiello di pregio, le ca-
ratteristiche più importanti per
il cliente sono il colore, la lu-
centezza e la resistenza di que-
ste allo scorrere del tempo. So-
no state studiate diverse
soluzioni per permettere al
prezioso di mantenere invaria-
te le sue migliori proprietà, ma
solo alcune di queste consen-
tono di risolvere efficacemente
tutti gli aspetti del problema.
Certe tecniche, anche molto
avanzate come ad esempio i
processi PVD, permettono di
ottenere una colorazione do-
tata di buona qualità, ma ri-
chiedono investimenti notevo-
li che non tutte le aziende sono
pronte ad affrontare. D’altro
canto, metodi meno comples-
si come quello della placcatura
in Rodio conferiscono al gioiel-
lo una resistenza solo tempo-
ranea ai processi di usura e os-
sidazione del metallo.
Puntando su queste tre diret-
trici - colorazione di qualità, lu-
centezza e resistenza - la ricer-
ca ha sviluppato una tecnica
innovativa, basata su un pro-
dotto hi-tech: la vernice cata-
foretica nano-ceramica Kliar
permette infatti di realizzare
colorazioni che con i normali
processi galvanici risultano im-
possibili, altamente resistenti e
brillanti, ad un costo decisa-
mente contenuto.
Sviluppata per il settore orafo
dall’azienda Legor Group di
Bressanvido, la vernice Kliar è
un prodotto estremamente
versatile: adattandosi a tutti i
tipi di materiale, si presta ad
essere utilizzato sia come co-
pertura trasparente, in partico-
lare sull’argenteria, sia come
rivestimento colorato. La ver-
nice è disponibile in 17 tinte,
ma c’è la possibilità di combi-
narle tra loro per ottenerne di
nuove e originali. Il processo di
colorazione è relativamente
semplice e non richiede mac-
chinari complessi (se il tratta-
mento viene eseguito su pic-
cole produzioni giornaliere di
qualche centinaio di pezzi): il
trattamento avviene per elet-
trodeposizione (cataforesi) e ri-
copre il gioiello con particelle
di nano ceramica ultra-resi-
stenti. È richiesto un filtraggio
minimo della soluzione.
Un altro punto di forza del
prodotto sta nell’abbattimen-
to dei costi in rapporto all’alto
livello delle prestazioni: co-
struire un impianto da zero ri-
chiede un investimento che
può variare dai 2.000€ per
una piccola azienda ai
20.000€ per le strutture più
grandi, mentre un litro di so-
luzione Kliar costa un quinto
di una classica soluzione di ro-
dio. Il processo garantisce
inoltre una straordinaria pro-
tezione dall’usura del tempo
e dall’imbrunimento del me-
tallo, fino a quattro volte più
resistente rispetto al tratta-
mento col rodio. Ciò consen-
te di impreziosire il gioiello in
argento aumentando il suo
valore agli occhi del cliente,
per il quale l’invecchiamento
del pezzo rimane una delle
preoccupazioni maggiori.
La vernice Kliar consente di
rendere più durevoli i preziosi,
in qualunque metallo siano
realizzati, e di arricchirli con
una colorazione di alta qualità: Tech

tutto questo si traduce per il
produttore in una maggiore
possibilità di sganciarsi dai me-
talli preziosi tradizionali, che
stanno raggiungendo oggi co-
sti proibitivi, dedicandosi a
materiali alternativi che pre-
sentano però un elevato ap-
peal per la clientela. Ed è stato
proprio questo mix a convin-
cere i giudici del Thinking
Ahead Award (MJSA organi-
zation in USA), che hanno de-
ciso di premiare il lavoro della
Legor Group come il prodotto
Talking about precious jew-
ellery, the most im¬portant
features for the customer are
colour, lustre and their durabil-
ity over time. Different solu-
tions have been designed to al-
low the jewel to maintain its
best properties unchanged,
but only some of these proper-
ties make it possible to effec-
tively address all aspects of the
problem. Certain techniques,
such as the very advanced PVD
processes, allow us to obtain Tech

good quality coloration, but
require significant investment
that not all companies are
ready to face. On the other
hand, less complex tech-
niques, such as rhodium plat-
ing, give the jewel only tempo-
rary resistance to processes of
metal wear and oxidation.
Focusing on these three direc-
tions – quality colour, lustre
and resistance – researchers
have developed an innovative
technique, based on a hi-tech
product: it is the cataphoretic
nano-ceramic Kliar coating,
able to provide highly resistant
and bright colours that cannot
be obtained with convention-
al electroplating processes. At
a very affordable price.
Developed for the gold sector
by Legor Group of Bressan-
vido, the Kliar coating solution
is a very versatile product: giv-
en its adaptation to all types of
material, it can be used both
as a transparent cover, espe-
cially in silversmith industry,
and a coloured coating.
The Kliar coating is available in
17 shades; however, it is pos-
sible to combine them and ob-
tain new and original tones.
The colouring process is rela-
tively simple and requires no
complex machinery (when re-
gards the daily production of
a few hundred pieces): the
treatment is done by elec-
trodeposition (cataphoretic)
and covers the jewel with ul-
tra-resistant nano-ceramic
particles. Finally, it requires
minimal filtering of the solu-
tion.
Another strong point of the
product lies in the lowering of
costs in relation to the high
performances offered: the
cost to install a Kliar system
ranges from € 2,000 for the
small companies to € 20,000
for the big ones, while one litre
of Kliar solution costs a fifth of
the conventional rhodium so-
lution.
The Kliar coating process also
ensures excellent protection
against the wearing effect of
time and metal tarnishing, be-
ing four times more resistant
than the treatment with rho-
dium coating. This allows you
to embellish silver jewellery,
thus increasing its value before
the eyes of the customer,
whose major concern is the
aging of the piece.
The Kliar coating helps make
jewels more durable, regard-
less of the metal they are made
of, and enrich them with a
high-quality colour: all this pro-
vides the manufacturer with a
greater opportunity to get
away from traditional precious
metals, which are now reach-
ing prohibitive costs, and use
alternative materials with high
appeal on customers. Just this
mix of advantages convinced
the judges of the Thinking
Ahead Award (MJSA organiza-
tion in the USA), to award a
prize to Legor Group’s Kliar
coating as the most strategic
product of the season, able to
reconcile the needs of manu-
facturers with those of an in-
creasingly demanding and
sensitive clientele.

originales.
alcanzando hoy precios prohibitivos dedicándose a materiales

verse, powered by OMICS.
This software enables to
cover the entire production
process – from blocking,
through generating, pol-
ishing and coating up to
finishing.
The software is Win-
dowsTM based and has
easy to use navigation men-
us.The flexible modular de-
sign allows labs to install
the essential functions and
easily add additional mod-
ules in the future. Moreo-
ver, the Rx-Universe soft-
ware offers a multi-language
capability with user-defined
language translation tables
(including support for Chi-
nese Windows OS charac-

RESEARCh AS A RESOURCE FOR A bETTER PROdUCTLa PAI CRISTAL è oggi in
grado di fornire una va-
sta gamma di paste abrasive
e polish lucidanti, formulata
in collaborazione con pro-
fessionisti del settore e sulla
base delle necessità degli
utilizzatori.
Ma l’azienda non intende
fermarsi e continua la sua
intensa attività di innovazio-
ne, non soltanto all’interno
del Dipartimento di Ricerca
e Sviluppo, grazie ad uno
staff di chimici e di tecnici
per le collaborazioni ester-
ne, ma anche grazie alla col-
laborazione con enti prepo-
sti, centri di ricerca ed
università per studi di setto-
re ed approfondimenti.
L’ attività di ricerca, test e
creazione, in un mercato in
continuo sviluppo, influisce
profondamente sulla quali-
tà del prodotto finale e so-
prattutto sulla specificità
dello stesso. Essa rappresen-
ta uno strumento indispen-
sabile per passare dalla co-
noscenza chimica a quella
industriale. Le conoscenze
tradizionali provenienti dal-
l’archivio storico dell’azien-
da affiancano l’attività scien-
tifica svolta dai chimici del
laboratorio e dai tecnici in-
terni ed esterni, non sola-
mente affinando le cono-
scenze dell’azienda e quindi
migliorandone l’odierna
produzione, ma anche for-
nendo idee per nuove for-
mulazioni e nuovi prodotti
atti a colmare le richieste del
mercato o a cambiarne le
odierne logiche cardine.
E’ poi compito del Diparti-
mento Ricerca e Sviluppo far
confluire i dati così raccolti,
le nuove idee e le richieste
inoltrate in reali progetti da
portare avanti su larga scala
e con enti specializzati per
una realizzazione completa
e definitiva degli stessi.
L’impegno della PAI CRISTAL
non desiste e continua an-
che per il 2012 con il pre-
supposto di fornire una
gamma prodotti sempre più
all’avanguardia e soprattut-
to più vasta e di risposta alle

Finishes & Treatments
PAI CRISTAL is now able
to provide a wide range
of abrasive pastes and pol-
ishes, formulated in collabo-
ration with industry profes-
sionals and based on user
needs.
But the company does not
intend to stop here and is
continuing its intense inno-
vation work, not only within
the Department of Research
and Development, thanks to
a staff of chemists and tech-
nicians for external collabo-
rations, but also through
collaboration with related
agencies, research centres
and universities for sector
studies and in-depth re-
search.
In a market in constant devel-
opment, research, testing
and creation have a pro-
found impact on the quality
of the final product and
above all on its specificity.
They represent an essential
tool in order to move from
chemical knowledge to in-
dustrial knowledge. Tradi-
tional knowledge from the
company’s historical archives
stands alongside the scientif-
ic work undertaken by the
laboratory chemists and in-
ternal and external techni-
cians, not only honing the
company’s knowledge and
thus improving current pro-
duction, but also providing
ideas for new formations
and products aimed at meet-
ing market demand or
changing current key logics.
It is then up to the Depart-
ment of Research and Devel-
opment to merge the data
obtained in this way, the
new ideas and the requests
forwarded in real projects to
be pursued on a large scale
and with specialist institu-
tions for full and final com-
pletion.
PAI CRISTAL’s commitment is
unfailing and will continue
throughout 2012 with the
aim of providing a product
range that is increasingly at
the cutting edge and espe-
cially more comprehensive
and responsive to market
expectations.
nuevas formulaciones y nuevos productos tendientes a
Tech

If you have to assemble hinges on glassesLa COSBERG SPA (Terno
d’Isola, BG, Italia) propo-
ne un impianto per montare
le cerniere degli occhiali com-
posto da una tavola rotante a
12 posizioni.
Stazioni:
1. Alimentazione della molla
mediante vibro-orientatore. Le
molle sono inserite nel posag-
gio e tenute da un contrasto.
2. Alimentazione dell’anello
mediante vibro-orientatore.
Ogni singolo anello viene orien-
tato angolarmente ed inserito
nella molla situata nel posag-
gio, con controllo di quota.
3. Un dispositivo inserisce,
dal basso verso l’alto il perno
che è alimentato da un appo-
sito vibro-orientatore. Quan-
do tutto é precaricato, una
pressa con ganasce speciali
esegue la coniatura del per-
no con un forza di 200 Kg
minimo.
4. Un vibro-orientatore ali-
menta la cerniera maschio
dopodichè un braccio di presa
e posa prende la cerniera ma-
schio e la infila sul perno, te-
nendo la molla a pacco con
una forza di 20 Kg e inseren-
do due distanziali di 1 mm tra
l’anello e la cerniera maschio.
A questo punto viene fatta
una pressatura della cerniera
maschio, fissandola sul per-
no. La macchina è predispo-
sta per alimentare due tipi di
cerniere.
5. Pressatura della cerniera
maschio a 90° rispetto alla
prima.
6. Controllo programmabile
della corsa e della forza di
spinta fino ad un massimo di
30 Kg per verificare la tenuta
della rivettatura.
7. Scarico dei pezzi montati,
con separazione dei pezzi
buoni dai pezzi da scartare.
Tutte le operazioni di montag-
gio sono automatiche e di
ognuna viene controllato il
corretto completamento. Al-
cune operazioni, se non com-
pletate, vengono ripetute e, al
terzo insuccesso, la stazione si
ferma e l’operatore deve inter-
venire. Nel frattempo le altre
stazioni continuano il ciclo di Tech

lavoro automatico, limitando
la perdita di produzione.
Particolarità:
- tavola rotante con unità di
lavoro montate su un suppor-
to centrale alla tavola rotante.
In questo modo, le stazioni di
assemblaggio sono rivolte
verso l’esterno e assicurano
all’operatore la visibilità ne-
cessaria per la gestione del
processo di assemblaggio.
- La manutenzione è rapida e
soprattutto low cost. Grazie
infatti alla standardizzazione
del progetto meccanico delle
unità e dei moduli, sia di avvi-
tamento e/o inserimento che
dei bracci di carico/scarico,
collocando i materiali sogget-
ti a usura esternamente, pos-
sono essere cambiati con
estrema facilità e velocità, il

tutto a costi contenuti.
Un altro aspetto fondamentale
di questo sistema, così come
per tutti gli altri realizzati da Co-
sberg, è la robustezza e la rigi-
dità delle strutture utilizzate.
“Per l’installazione e lo start
up, che normalmente neces-
sita dalle quattro alle otto set-
timane, noi richiediamo dai
due ai cinque giorni per im-
pianti complessi, garantendo
la funzionalità a pieno regi-
me” racconta Monica Teli, re-
sponsabile Sales & Marketing.
“Questo è un aspetto partico-
larmente importante, perché
conseguente all’uso di chassis
molto solidi e rigidi in acciaio
elettrosaldato, con una pia-
stra di 30 mm lavorata con
macchina utensile a controllo
numerico, che offrono una
precisione centesimale, per il
fissaggio e l’inserimento delle
varie unità di lavoro”.
Tempo ciclo: 1200 pezzi/ora
Tecnologie
Il pacchetto software CO-
SBERG-COP segnala all’ope-
ratore le cause di ogni fermo
delle varie stazioni, e spiega la
procedura di ripristino.
Inoltre questo software visua-
lizza la cadenza produttiva
istantanea (velocità) della mac-
china espressa in pezzi/ora, la
cadenza della stazione in quel
momento più lenta in secon-
di/pezzo, l’efficienza come
rapporto tra la cadenza di pro-
duzione effettiva da inizio tur-
no e la cadenza teorica.
Lo stesso applicativo guida
l’operatore nell’impostazione
di una serie di parametri di fun-
zionamento della macchina.
Il software COSBERG-CMD
registra e visualizza i dati di
produzione cumulati , come
i pezzi prodotti dall’avvio del
lotto, il tempo cumulato di
funzionamento in modo au-
tomatico da inizio turno, i nu-
mero degli scarti complessivo
e ripartito per cause di scarto,
la frequenza e durata dei fer-
mi ripartita per cause di fermo
della macchina. A bordo mac-
china sovraintende al cambio
produzione automatico e re-
gistra tutti i parametri di fun-
zionamento nei vari momenti
della giornata.
Il software COSBERG-CMD
fornisce un ausilio anche ai
manutentori, consentendo lo-
ro di registrare, in apposite
“pagine” opportunamente
strutturate, tutti gli interventi
manutentivi eseguiti o da ese-
guire in futuro, rendendo tali
informazioni immediatamen-
te accessibili a chiunque deb-
ba intervenire sulla macchina.
Dal punto di vista meccanico,
interessanti risultano le sta-
zioni di controllo e test che
hanno delle tolleranze ben
definite. Inoltre, tutti i vibro-
alimentatori sono piezo elet-
trici consentendo l’orienta-
mento di particolari di
dimensioni ridotte come le
piccole cerniere per occhiali.
COSBERG SPA (Terno d’Isola, Bergame, Italie) propose

plein régime” assure Monica Teli, responsable Sales & Mar-
keting.

COSBERG SPA (Terno
d’Isola, BG, Italy) offers a
system for assembling the
hinges on glasses consisting of
a revolving table with 12 posi-
tions.
Stations:
1. Spring feeding by means of
a vibrating positioning ma-
chine. The springs are inserted
in the support and held by a
brace.
2. Ring feeding by means of a
vibrating positioning machine.
Each individual ring is oriented
at an angle and inserted into
the spring situated in the sup-
port, with level control.
3. A device inserts the pin, fed
by a special vibrating position-
ing machine, from the bottom
upwards. When everything is
preloaded, a press with special
jaws coins the pin with a mini-
mum force of 200 Kg.
4. A vibrating positioning ma-
chine feeds the male hinge, af-
ter which a gripper/installation
arm takes the male hinge and
slips it onto the pin, keeping
the spring fully-compressed
with a force of 20 kg and in-
serting two 1 mm spacers be-
tween the ring and the male
hinge. At this point, the male
hinge is pressed, securing it to
the pin. The machine is de-
signed to feed two types of
hinges.
5. Pressing the male hinge at
90° in relation to the former.
6. Programmable control of
the stroke and thrust force up
to a maximum of 30 kg to
check the tightness of the riv-
eting.
7. Unloading the assembled
pieces, separating the good
pieces from those to be dis-
carded.
All the assembly operations are
automatic and each is checked
for proper completion. Some
operations, if not completed,
are repeated and, at the third
unsuccessful attempt, the sta-
tion stops and the operator
must intervene. In the mean-
time, the other stations contin-
ue the automatic working cy-
cle, limiting production loss.
Distinctive features:
- revolving table with work
units assembled on a central
support. In this way, the as-
sembly stations face outwards
and ensure the operator has
the required visibility to man-
age the assembly process.
- Maintenance is fast and
above all low cost. Thanks to
the standardisation of the me-
chanical design of the units
and modules, for both screw-
ing and/or inserting the load-
ing/unloading arms, in fact,
placing the materials subject
to wear on the outside, these
can be changed with extreme
ease and speed, all at a low
cost.
Another fundamental aspect
of this system, as well as for all
others manufactured by Cos-
berg, is the strength and ro-
bustness of the structures
used.
“For the installation and start
up, which usually requires four
to eight weeks, we require
two to five days for complex
systems, ensuring functional-
ity at full capacity,” says Mon-
ica Teli, Head of Sales & Mar-
keting. “This is a particularly
important aspect, as it is due
to the use of very solid, robust
electrically-welded steel chas-
sis, with a 30 mm plate ma-
chined using a machine tool
with numerical control, which
offer centesimal precision for
securing and inserting the var-
ious working units.”
Cycle time: 1200 pieces/
hour
Technologies
The COSBERG-COP software
package informs the operator
of the causes of each stop on
the various stations, and ex-
plains the reset procedure.
In addition, this software dis-
plays the instantaneous pro-
duction rate (speed) of the
machine expressed in pieces/
hour, the rate of the slowest
station at that moment in sec-
onds/piece, the efficiency as
the ratio between the actual
production rate from the start
of the shift and the theoretical
rate. The same application as-
sists the operator in setting a
series of machine operating
parameters.
The COSBERG-CMD software
records and displays the cu-
mulative production data,
such as pieces produced since
start of the batch, the cumula-
tive time of operation in auto-
matic mode since the start of
the shift, the total number of
rejects and restarts due to re-
jects and the frequency and
duration of machine down-
time . On board the machine,
it oversees the automatic pro-
duction change and records all
the operating parameters
throughout the day.
The COSBERG-CMD software
also provides support to main-
tenance technicians, enabling
them to record all mainte-
nance work performed or to
be performed in the future on
special, appropriately-struc-
tured “pages”, making this in-
formation immediately acces-
sible to anyone who needs to
work on the machine.
From a mechanical point of
view, the control and test sta-
tions, with clearly-defined tol-
erances, are of interest. In ad-
dition, all the vibrating feeders
are piezoelectric, enabling
the orientation of small de-
tails such as small hinges for
glasses.

Tiempo ciclo: 1200 piezas/hora
