I am honored and feel very privileged to share with you the Bi annual report of The

Aditya Birla Public School, Rawan.

It is extremely exciting to begin the academic year 2019-20. At ABPS, the goal of

education is to provide an environment to the pupils which incorporates authentic learning and

personal development. It allows the learners to solve the types of complex problems they face

in today’s ever changing and ever evolving world. Believing that “If everyone is moving

together, then success takes care of itself,” the entire staff of ABPS moves with a mission of

providing its children with all possible facilities that help them in becoming a good human

being. Our idyllic working atmosphere, fashion tireless and devoted facilitators, who have

today created their own masterpieces on the canvas of education.

Our school has an outstanding reputation for establishing high expectations and

achieving excellent academic results. Talents too, are constantly developing through sports

and varied co-curricular activities. This in turn results in widening the scope of education and

makes it more consequential.

The School aspires to create a symphony in the hearts of its young pupils, such that it

exudes pure music and propels them to the exalted position that is the beginning of a wonderful

News in Brief

SPECIAL WELCOME ASSEMBLY BY THE TEACHERS AT

THE START OF NEW ACADEMIC SESSION

To welcome the new session, a special assembly was organized by the teachers on the first

day of the new academic year i.e., 01/04/2019. The assembly was a blend of fun and learning.

The teachers presented the programme in a form of poem medley, enactment, music and a talk

on healthy life.

The assembly started with lighting the lamp by the Principal and teachers. Representatives of

each class lit their candles to spread the warmth of inspiration. The Aditya Vandana was

chanted by all the teachers. Shorts prayers on students and their families, country, natural

disaster and the sick and suffering were delivered by the teachers.

A PowerPoint presentation on Time management, Anger management, Knowledge

and ethics was shown and elaborated by the principal. A group of teachers presented a medley

of English and Hindi poems. A talk on cleanliness, healthy food and habits, and nature was

delivered by a few teachers.

A group of teachers enacted the song Itni si hasin itni si khushi. All the teachers

presented a performance on Communication Gap and its effect. A song on values of Aditya

Birla group Mulya Jo Amulya Hain was sung by the teachers. Special Prize Distribution

Ceremony was also organized. Principal ma’am addressed the gathering. A movie of Charlie

Chaplin was shown at the end. The Programme was coordinated by Ms. Archana Seth and Ms

Nandini Neogi under the guidance of Principal Mrs. Sangita Christopher.

LKG – PARENT ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

Parents were welcomed by the staff and principal.

The welcoming of parents was followed by ‘The Aditya Vandana’.

The Principal addressed the gathering.

A video highlighting the programmes and activities conducted throughout the year

was shown.

FIRST DAY, FIRST HOUR FOR SAFETY

First day, First Hour for safety, is a unique initiative by the unit in which after the long

summer break when the school reopens, all the stake holders take an oath to ensure safety for

one and all. First Day First Hour for Safety-On the opening day of school after a long

summer break, the assembly was informed about the importance of safety in everyone’s life.

In the presence of the dignitaries the Safety Ambassadors of the school presented an

informative programme including a safety kawwali, a pantomime & a video on safety

measures. They spread awarness about safety hazards in school, workplace & home. The

topics covered were : Road Safety, Home Safety, Workplace Safety, Sports Safety, Fire Safety

etc. The students constituting the group of Safety & Cleanliness Ambassadors were also

introduced. The assembly, highlighting the values of Safety & Cleanliness, culminated by

honouring the most safety-conscious students.

The Safety Ambassadors of the management and the Principal addressed the assembly giving

their inputs on safety, sharing anecdotes and emphasising on the Awareness-Thought-When

You See Something, Say Something.

INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE & ILLICIT

TRAFFICKING

International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was celebrated on 26th June 2019 by the students

of class 12 under the guidance of the Consumer Awareness Club. The United Nations celebrates this day to

raise awareness about the major problem that drugs represent in society. This day is supported by individuals,

communities and various organizations all over the world.

The terms ‘Abuse’, ‘Illicit’ and ‘Trafficking’ were explained explicitely. The assembly was informed

elaborately about the negative consequences of taking drugs in our life, and also about the dangers of illicit

trafficking. Visual inputs were given through informative videos about illicit drugs and their harms, and how

to avoid them. A pantomime beautifully taught to “Say No to Drugs”. All the students took the pledge of

abstaining from drugs and also helping others in doing so.The Principal emphasised upon the importance of

listening to children by elders, and of being alert.

MATHS ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME

In order to make the students understand the importance of mathematics and to discover the elegance of the

subject, a mathematics enrichment programme was conducted. The students were made aware of various

dimensions of Mathematics. An enriching Maths quiz, skit and interesting PPT were presented.

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AWARD (ISA) ACTIVITIES

The ABPS GV has met all the norms of British Counsil and has been declared as being accredited for the ISA

award 2018-19. The award ceremony is due in the month of November. Gift parcels, reflecting the culture and

the tradition of the partner country have been received from partner school of Argentina, Russia and Korea.

ONE ACT PLAY ( LKG- II) An Inter house one act play was conducted for classes LKG to II.

WORLD POPULATION DAY

On 11th July 2019, as a special assembly the World Pipulation Day was celebrated. The

assembly was conducted by the students of classes VII to XII. One video presentation was

shown focusing on the growth of population till 2050. A skit was presented by students of

class VII on the topic The Glimpse of Future Earth. The programme was concluded by the

blessings of Principal.

INTER HOUSE COLORING COMPETITION

Children enthusiastically participated in the Inter House colouring competitions held in the school on the 6th

of July.

KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS

Under the Guidelines of the CBSE, 20th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed in the form of a

special assembly and drawing competition. Everyone remembered the martyrdom of Indian soldiers and took

an oath to keep the Indian solidarity intact.

POETRY RECITATION Poetry Recitation Competition was conducted by the Junior Teachers in which children took part they

recited small poems whole-heartedly.

SPELL BEE COMPETITION

An inter house spell bee contest was conducted for the students of classes VI and VIII. Four

students from each house participated in it. The competition was a wonderful learning source

not only for the participants but also for their peers.

ROBOTICS WORKSHOP BY ICT CLUB

The ICT Club organized Robotic Workshop to provide a technical platform to students from

junior level. The key areas covered in this workshop were fundamentals and practical aspects

of basic electronics, mechanics, robotics and its various applications.

The Workshop was conducted by BITS (Bharti info Tech and Services), Bilaspur(C.G). Under

the guidance Mr. Ashish Chhatterjee (BITS)director of the company.

COMMUNITY SERVICE (VISIT TO GOVT. HR. SEC. SCHOOL RAWAN )

(HEALTH AND HYGIENE by ECO CLUB )

An Orientation programme was organised by the ECO CLUB of The Aditya Birla Public

School, Rawan on “HEALTH AND HYGIENE” at Govt. Higher Secondary School Rawan

on 03/08/2019 to build, enhance and create awareness amongst the future generation. The

teachers and the students enjoyed the lively interaction on various aspects of health and

hygiene.

SCIENCE ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME

An enrichment programme was organised by the Faculty members of Science Department of

The Aditya Birla Public School, Rawan to build, enhance and create awareness amongst the

future generation. Students from classes III-IX heartily attended and participated in this

informative enrichment programme.

In an interactive session the Science faculty appraised the students on various strategies like

Adaptation, Chemistry in daily life, Myths and Facts, Angiography, Chandrayaan etc by

showing Power point Presentation, Videos along with a questionnaire.

The students of The Aditya Birla Public School, Rawan visited Bhatapara and spread

awareness amongst people against Child Labour. The students were mainly from class 9th and

10th .They were guided by Mr. Ashish Shukla and Mrs. Mary John.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY

The official ceremony of Conferring titles and investing power on the members of the School

council was conducted at ABPS Rawan on 8th July. School Principal Ms. Sangita Christopher

administered the oath. The School council members were conferred upon with sashes and

badges by the Chief Guest Mr. Kartikeya Goel (IAS), Collector Baloda Bazar- Bhatapara and

Mrs. Nithu Kamal (IPS), SP Baloda Bazar- Bhatapara.

The Chief Guest in his speech appealed to the newly inducted leaders to set a high standard of

commitment and integrity and become role models for peers. The cultural extravaganza and

students’ discipline were appreciated by one and all.

CBSE CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME

Two days workshop on “CAPACITY BUILDING ON SCIENCE” was organized BY

CBSE at Krishna Public School Nehru Nagar in Bhilai (C.G.) to build and enhance the

capacities of the faculty members.

More than 100 science teachers of CBSE affiliated schools participated in this informational

workshop. The workshop was an interactive session in which the resource person Mrs. Shakti

Nair and Mr. Sushil appraised the faculties about various strategies of teaching science in class,

designing the lesson plan and framing of question paper. Teachers were also given innovative

idea to teach science along with remedial measures to rectify common problems.

INSPIRE CAMP

The department of Science and technology conducted inspire camp at Pt Ravi Shankar

University, Raipur to identify the talent of young Indians. 11 Students from the school

participated in this camp. Many professors, Scientists and IITIANs participated in the event.

Students got the opportunity to conduct many experiments in the university Lab.

MISSIONARY DESTITUTE CENTER VISIT-SPORTS CLUB

On 10th August 2019, the students of Aditya Birla Public School, Rawan visited Missionary

Destitute Centre, Raipur to spend some time with homeless senior citizens. It was a very

precious experience for the students as it was their first visit to any charity center.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION 2019

Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm. The spotlight events were a tableau

presentation on Pulvama terror attack and a dance fusion encompassing cultural diversity of

different states of India. In the keynote address, the unit head Mr. Ashish Panpalia appreciated

the students’ efforts in making the program a grand success. He also appealed to the students

to become global leaders.

ANUVRAT SINGING COMPETITION

School students participated in Anuvrat Singing Competition on 21-08-2019 in solo and group

categories. The panel of judges appreciated their performance.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS CLUB

A training session was organized on First Aid and Life Style Management. The Unit Doctor,

Mr. D.K.Singh threw light on the diseases related to wrong life style and their management.

He focused on cardiovascular diseases, hypertension and Diabetes and assured that by

adopting healthy habits these diseases can be prevented. He also explained how teachers can

give effective first aid to students in case of any emergency.

TREE PLANTATION

The Aditya Birla Public school Rawan organised a mega tree plantation drive on

18th September 2019 as per the directions of the Regional Officer CBSE BBSR.

Trees are the kindest things we grow- This has been rightly said as the needs of all living

beings are fulfilled by them. They are of invaluable importance to our environment .But their

depleting numbers has become a serious issue. To make the students aware of this issue, the

school is taking initiatives towards it. In the morning assembly, Principal Ma’am emphasised

upon the need of tree plantation to save our eco system and to preserve the environment for

the future generation. The students also took a pledge to protect the environment earnestly.

CLEANLINESS DRIVE

Students enthusiastically took part in cleanliness drive to make the school campus and the

surrounding area tidy. They collected wrappers, paper bits and dry leaves and put them into

the dustbins.

RALLIES ON DANDI MARCH, ROAD SAFETY & NO PLASTIC

Students participated in a rally to make the colony residents aware about the importance of

road safety, environment and cleanliness. One student Impersonating Gandhi and others as

his followers reminded everyone of Dandi March taken up in the year 1930.

RAKHI MAKING COMPETITION (LKG-II)

The festival of Raksha Bandhan is a special occasion to celebrate the emotional bond between

brothers and sisters. A rakhi making activity was organized for classes LKG- II. It was a delight

to watch the young hands fondly prepare the colourful rakhis. Students participated in large

numbers in Rakhi Making Competition. Their maturing skills and growing creativity were

appreciated by all.

ANUVRAT DRAWING COMPETITION

Budding artists of school participated in Anuvrat Drawing Competition on the topic

Conservation of Natural Resources. They sketched and coloured their imagination into

beautiful drawings.

WORLD ENTREPRENEURSHIP DAY

To recognize the importance of the young entrepreneurs, World Entrepreneurship Day was

observed on 21 August. The special assembly spread consumer awareness and consumer

safety through demonstrations, such as checking the purity of honey and ghee.

FOLK DANCE COMPETITION (VI-VIII)

A folk dance competition was held to express the rural richness of different states of India.

The competition was a treat to the eyes of the beholders as the rich and vibrant culture of

different states were presented at their best. The folk dance of Karnataka state was adjudged

to be the best.

NATIONAL SPORTS DAY-CELEBRATION

A Special assembly was organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendry

hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. The students were made aware of the importance of sports

and games through various presentations.

ENGLISH ELOCUTION

English elocution contest was organized for high school students to build confidence in them

and nurture speaking skills. The topics were motivational speeches of famous personalities

and editorials from magazines. Students’ eloquence and confidence impressed everyone.

ROLE PLAY AND FANCY DRESS COMPETITION

LKG-II students participated in Role Play and Fancy Dress Competition. They represented

different professions and roles. Their costume and innocent dialogue delivery impressed

everyone.

Teachers’ Day celebration was conceived and presented by the Senior Secondary students.

The Programme encompassed contemporary dance, a quiz for teachers and felicitation. The

event was graced by Madam Rashmi Panpalia, the first lady of township and better halves of

FHs who encouraged the students and teachers by their positive gestures. On this day, the

Junior Computer Lab was also inaugurated.

The School magazine was released on this day for the session 2018-19

Teachers were trained by the Extra marks faculty to make effective use of smart boards for

HUB OF LEARNING

(AN INITIATIVE OF THE CBSE)

The Aditya Birla Public School nominated as “Lead Collaborating School” by the CBSE for

sharing the best practices and standardize the teaching learning process.

The first meeting of Hub of learning was conducted in KPS Raipur. The Principal Mrs. Sangita

Christopher explained to the members about the aims, objectives and importance of the CBSE

initiative of “Hub of Learning”. The five partner schools were asked to maintain activity

records and assessment tool/ rubrics to assess the activity as they are required to be produced

at the time of renewal of affiliation and registration.

HUB OF LEANING ACTIVITY- A TEACHER EXCHANGE PROGRAMME

Implementing the initiative of the CBSE, Hub of Learning in letter and spirit (under teacher exchange

programme), teachers from cluster schools exchanged their best practices and interacted with students. It was

really an enriching experience for everyone.

Achievement in Sports SGFI basketball District Competition was held at Bhatapara(C.G). 20 students have been qualified for

Divisional level competition.
