he Grangewood Estate is a locallynotorious area and is the secondmost deprived estate in the Countyof Derbyshire.

Fit it, Forget it, it’s the Future of DoorsThe Eclisse Sliding Pocket Door System ispractical and well designed – a frameworkthat forms part of the wall, so doors slideeffortlessly inside the walls maximisinguseable floor space. The pocket systemreveals only the part you want to see, thedoor; the strong, reliable steel construction ishidden in the wall. In the rest of Europe sliding doors are wellestablished; in domestic building, in offices andpublic buildings, interior sliding doors are usedeverywhere. In the UK we’ve been a bit behind, remember those DIY enthusiasts rickety, wobblyefforts? But now there’s a boom and it’s herebecause of Eclisse. Eclisse have always been in theforefront of technical development, making thesystems that people want, always looking for ways tomake the system work better, listening to buildersand supplying what’s really needed. Installation is straightforward, using standard studwork and standard plasterboard. The complete doorcan be contained in 100mm finished wall thicknessand the average time for installation into preparedstud work is about two hours. In luxury hotels, inhospitals and schools, private homes, old properties,in areas of minimalist design, in en-suites, inkitchens. In the smallest room or for dividing vastspaces, fitting into awkward areas, or to make lifeeasier for the disabled, people want Eclisse PocketDoor Systems.

Lanes completes first chute relineon English tower blockLanes Group has used its innovativedrainage technology to carry out the firstever reline repair of a refuse chute in aresidential tower block in England. Its engineers reached for the skiesinstead of going underground torefurbish two chutes at the 13-storeyDevonshire Tower in Sunderland, Tyneand Wear. The technique, pioneered byLanes’ Scottish drainage operation,Castlebrae, is also used to reline drainstacks on listed buildings.Paul Matthews, Area DevelopmentManager for Lanes for Drains in Tyneand Wear, said: “Relining waste chutes, rather than replacing them, takes lesstime, is less disruptive, is more cost-effective and creates a robust, long-termrepair. “The approach makes use of adrain repair technique called Cure inPlace (CIP), adapted to be carried outvertically. This has created a newapplication for the technology that wecall CIPC, or Cure in Place Chute.”

A Proctor Group attend GreenbuildThe A Proctor Group of Blairgowriewill be attending Greenbuild Expo atManchester Central on the 8th and 9thMay. Our exhibit will include ourSpacetherm Aerogel in variousapplications including new proto-typesof a wall liner and floor underlay as wellas window reveal applications.Spacetherm Aerogel has been used inmany applications and markets, such asbuilding and construction (thermallaminates), maritime, automotive andrail industries. The A. Proctor GroupLtd have over ten years fabricationexperience with this material and workwith many bespoke customers andpartners to develop solutions andinnovations. It is a key objective of TheA. Proctor Group to continue to engagewith new customers to develop solutionsfor products and projects where thermalperformance is crucial.

“When I first entered what was thena rather limited thermal insulationindustry, over twenty five years ago -selling STYROFOAM extrudedpolystyrene insulation to architectsand end users of all types - I wasamused by the fact that as a nationwe were insulating manyagricultural buildings far better thanany new properties built for humanoccupation.Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t begrudge thechickens and pigs a warm bed for thenight, but they, or their chicks and piglets, didn’t have to worry about the cost ofturning up the thermostat to cope withcold snaps: after all, at Dow we were busyhelping to wrap their sheds with cosySYTROFOAM!Subsidies no doubt helped, but along withanimal welfare, energy costs were ofprimary importance and the main driverfor the farmer. Let’s just say, commoneconomic sense prevailed!Over the years, the construction industrybegan to make progress and the use ofthermal insulation began to take shape. However, until more recently, its use waspretty limited. Back in the 80s, pioneeringproperty developers installed 50mm offibre in the loft and 25mm of board foaminto cavity walls. It was good news, and astep in the right direction (consideringthere was no legislation driving it – only adocument asking them to make‘reasonable provision’ for the conservation

of fuel!). However, it’s worth pointing outthat at the same time the piglets weresnuggled up with 80mm thickness ofinsulation! As with the farmer back then, the burdenof energy costs are catching up with us all,and fast - at home, in the office we work inor at our manufacturing facilities. Here inthe UK, we really shouldn’t be facing thefact that more people are being pushedinto fuel poverty, which of course has itsown impact on health and well-being. Inshort, unless things change, energy coststhreaten to become the enemy of financialfreedom for a significant section of thepopulation and a competitive burden onthe UK as it competes in a globaleconomy. But it’s far from all doom andgloom. Government departments such asthe Department for Energy and ClimateChange (DECC) are thankfully taking theissue very seriously. I am pleased to saythat over the recent decade or so energyefficiency has become an integral part ofany new building for human occupation. There are of course more steps to takebefore we can consider our work done, butwe can thank pioneers such as theAssociation for the Conservation ofEnergy, whose bold efforts have broughtabout changes in legislation and helped toestablish what is required for continuedfuture improvement. Farmers saw the benefit of improvedenergy efficiency because they were payingthe energy bill and wanted their animals

to thrive. But, think about this - buildingdesigners, developers or contractors rarelypay the energy bills. It’s a shame, but it’sfact that it takes progressive legislation toincrease energy efficiency and make achange that will, at some time in the not toodistant future, mean that the owner oroccupier of a newly built property will notbe burdened with escalating energy costs. Buildings last a long time and many of ourfamilies, friends and neighbours are stillliving or working in old, poorly insulated oreven completely un-insulated buildings. However, the framework to make realchange is here and now. The noise is louderthan ever before, and not just withingovernment and industry: people aroundthe UK are finally talking about energyefficiency of the buildings they occupy. This means that an opportunity for Britishindustry is unfolding, not just in theconstruction market, but the manufacturingindustry, the chemical industry, the servicesindustry, the energy sector, and beyond. The prospects for growth in my specificindustry – thermal insulation - are betterthan ever. So what role can innovationplay? As a manufacturer of thermalinsulation products we’ve been developingever thicker products that deliver moreinsulation ‘power’. We are seeing the tideturn. In the past, thermal insulation had tofit with building methods, but now for thefirst time, building methods themselves arechanging because of the demand forgreater insulation thicknesses. We’ve also made strides in the processes weuse to manufacture insulation materials. Weat Dow take carbon dioxide from industryand use it a blowing agent to produce ourfoams, bringing major environmentalimprovements. But let’s face it, apart from overcomingsome mechanically challenging productionlimitations and technical hurdles, that’sreally as far as we’ve got: the biggestopportunity is yet to come if we are willingto embrace it. If we want thermal

insulation within the construction industryto up its game and create the nextgeneration of insulation products andsolutions, then we in industry must play ourpart and rise to the challenge. Those whodare will win – those who invest in newthinking, in research and development andultimately in new production methods arethe future. My dream is for the nextgeneration of insulation to emerge as beingpainted on, wrapped around, unfolded, orstretched into place. And to me that is theday the thermal insulation industry willhave truly entered the 21st century andcome of age. So the opportunity to reallyinnovate is finally with us. If we in industryembrace it, we become creators, leaders, exporters, winners in a whole new world ofenergy efficient solutions. The new home, office, school or hospital of this decade –with true commitment to buildingregulations and progressive legislation - willneed walls consisting of at least 200mmthick thermal insulation. And all around us,old buildings need to be re-furbished to thatstandard too. However, in order to bepractical, that 200mm thick of thermalinsulation will actually need to be 50mm orfar less, yet offer the same thermalperformance. It’s now time for a stepchange in science, in attitudes, ininvestment and joint government-industrycommitment to make the difference. Thanks to DECC and initiatives such as theGreen Deal and ECO, we in industry havethe platform: so let’s not waste theopportunity.”

BSRIA Tests for Part ‘F’ FailureTesting of domestic ventilation systemsunder Approved Document F of theBuilding Regulations has beencompulsory since October 2010.Unfortunately it has proved a nightmarefor the construction industry with aridiculously high percentage of failures.BSRIA Compliance, a companydedicated to testing to prove complianceto the ever more stringent requirementsof the Building Regulations, lays theinitial blame for these shortcomings ona mixture of poor design, but mainly adisappointingly poor standard ofinstallation, but also points out that thetesting methods originally used [and inmany cases still in use] can be wildlyinaccurate unless proper corrections aretaken to account for the idiosyncrasiesof each system and the appliances theyuse. The latter contention was supportedin a recent workshop organised byModern Built Environment, whichquoted the measurement of ventilationperformance as the most significantdeficiency in Building Performancemeasurement.

Insulation Warning:retrofitting could pose

thermal Bridging threatInsulation installers have been warned that it isvital to bring wall junction performance up tooverall insulation standards or risk condensationbuild-up and mould growth.

The stark warning, fromSustainable Building Solutions, part of the Travis PerkinsGroup, is the result of increasedconcerns that improvedinsulation in the UK’s housingstock will result in thermalbridging issues at junctions. The concerns have led toSustainable Building Solutions, which is actively supporting theGreen Deal in its attempts toimprove the insulation of theUK’s housing stock, to developits own technical solutioninvolving improving thethermal performance of thejunction in line with the rest of

the wall. Thermal bridgingoccurs at junctions betweenelements, such as PVC windowsand at interruptions ininsulation. When warminternal air bridges the gap withcold external walls there is oftena build-up in condensationwhich can ultimately lead tomould growth.Lee Jackson, an expert inthermal bridging issues atSustainable Building Solutions, explains. “When a householderinsulates a wall a nice warmhouse is created, but thejunction is still performing at amuch lower level, which in turn

creates the risk of surfacecondensation.”He continues: “The paradox isthat, in a poorly insulateddwelling, thermal bridging isminimal, but actions to improvethe insulation of the dwelling, which the Green Deal is likelyto accelerate, increase thepotential for thermal bridgingwith consequential implicationsfor condensation build-up.”The Sustainable BuildingSolutions remedy is to improvethe thermal performance of thejunction in line the rest of thewall. “Our modellingdemonstrates that the

installation of a small section ofhigh performance insulationdirectly below the window sillcan bring the junction up to thestandards of the rest of thewall,” says Mr Jackson. “The window sill has to beremoved anyway as part of theinsulation process. With ourmodelling it is clearlydemonstrated that this simpleprocess can bring the valueof a junction down to 0.012.In turn, this brings thetemperature factor up to 0.927which means there is negligiblerisk of condensation.”“We are not criticising the

Green Deal in any way. There is clearly a need forimproved levels of insulation inthe UK’s ageing housing stock, but it is vital that installers bringall aspects of a property’sinsulation up to the highestpossible standards, whichincludes addressing thermalbridging issues aroundjunctions, and not just cherry-pick the quick wins.”

The refurbishment, on behalf oftwo housing associations -Liverpool Housing Trust andNeighbourhood investor, PlusDane Group - is part of a £150million project to transform the1980s estate into a vibrantcommunity with a sustainablefuture.Terraced housing with outdatedplastic cladding and paintedconcrete exteriors is beingupgraded with around 20,000m2of Marmorit’s Warm Wall Basis,a cost-effective solid wallinsulation system which cutsenergy costs by reducing heat lossthrough the external façade. Anattractive, long lasting externalfinish is provided by Marmorit’sNoblo marble-aggregate finishrender. Given Castlefields’proximity to an industrial estateand resulting air pollution, whichhad deteriorated the originalfacades, the render surface iscoated with a silicon self-cleaningeffect paint. This greatly reduces

the adherence of dust and dirtparticles, so the surfaces will staycleaner for longer with minimalmaintenance.Richie Fazakerley, the ProjectSurveyor for landlords, LiverpoolHousing Trust comments: “Thebenefits of this project arenumerous for landlord andtenant alike. The project hasgiven the estate a new and freshappearance – giving people pridein where they live, reducing anti-social behaviour and making it amore desirable place to live. Theproject will help to reduce fuelbills and lower fuel poverty. There will also be a lifestylechange for our tenants. Homeswill be warmer, heating can beturned down, rooms will heat upmore quickly and heat will beretained. Rooms that previouslywould have been closed off willnow be opened up. This is partof Liverpool Housing Trust’scommitment to invest in the areaand to the Green Agenda.”

Knauf Marmorit’s Warm WallBasis is an economic externalwall insulation system consistingof expanded polystyrene squareedge insulation board in a rangeof thicknesses to suit differentthermal performancerequirements. For theCastlefields’ project a 90mmpremium insulation board wasspecified to provide the designthermal resistance. Onceinstalled, Warm Wall Basis isprotected by Marmorit’s Noblorender system, a premixed drymortar with alime/cementitious binderwhich provides a water-repellent, vapour permeableand weather-resistant finish. Asmart two-tone colour schemewas specified for facades atCastlefields by John McCallArchitects of Liverpool.Variations of light grey renderto the second storey, in place ofthe old plastic cladding, iscombined with white render atground level, which provides abright, low maintenancereplacement for the previouspainted concrete whilstretaining the original spirit ofthe elevations by keeping therecess details and elevationalinterest.

Train to Gain for Green Deal and ECOExternal Wall Insulation WorkThe introduction of the Green Deal andEnergy Company Obligation (ECO)should help an increasing number ofhomeowners and landlords to improvethe energy efficiency of their buildings. For around seven million buildings in theUK, solid wall insulation is likely to bethe most effective option, with externalwall insulation (EWI) provingincreasingly popular.EWI systems suchas Bostik Climatherm will makesignificant improvements to the energyefficiency of a property withoutreducing room size, and help to keepdisruption during installation to aminimum. EWI systems are availablewith a range of finishes, which meansthat depending on the property andproject the existing appearance can bematched, or in the case of buildingsrequiring a “face lift”, a fresh newappearance can be achieved.

Knauf Insulation Thermoshell® EWI warms up Stockton on Tees

Knauf Insulation’sThermoShell® ExternalWall Insulation (EWI) hasbeen used to treat 650 hardto treat homes on one ofthe largest CommunityEnergy Saving Programme(CESP) schemes in the UK.

The project, led by fuel povertyorganisation Community EnergySolutions (CES), has seen more than1500 properties in Stockton and 1000in Middlesbrough undergo atransformation that has made themmore energy efficient and cheaper toheat.

The ThermoShell EWI system is a costeffective solid wall insulation solution, designed for the lifetime of a property. The system shields the existing exteriorfaçade, whether brick, stonework, concrete or clay blockwork, from theeffects of weathering – extending thelongevity of the building but alsoproviding the opportunity to enhanceand upgrade the appearance of thebuilding.Additionally, the EWI systemincorporates either a rock mineral woolor expanded polystyrene solution, forthis project the EPS system wasspecified.Karen Hindhaugh, Operations

Director at CES commented on theThermoShell EWI system: “Thissolution meant that the system could beinstalled quickly with minimumdisruption to residents, with theaddition of a silicone render ensuringthe properties still looked the same asthe other houses in the scheme.”Gary Peacey, Contracting andRefurbishment Technical Manager, ofKnauf Insulation said: “TheThermoShell EWI system can upgradea property to current BuildingRegulations and beyond, drasticallyreducing carbon emissions andsignificantly lowering energy bills, making the system an ideal solution for

this large scheme.“With the products, used within theEWI system, being extremely easy tohandle and install, it resulted in thesetwo projects consisting of 2500properties to be completed trouble-freeand quickly. Ultimately providing a costeffective system, as well as undisturbed, happy residents who will notice anumber of benefits from theinstallation.”For more information please visitwww.knaufinsulation.co.uk

Cedral Weatherboardhelps create newEngland style and

development

Entire properties as well as a largenumber of feature walls on thedevelopment have been clad in CedralWeatherboard.Aroncorp, the client for thisdevelopment, was initially drawn toCedral Weatherboard because itprovided a visually authentic, lowmaintenance method of creating thepopular New England style ofarchitecture. The team at Aroncorp worked closelywith main contractor Jenner(Contractors) Ltd during the materialselection process. Jenner had used Cedral Weatherboardon other developments and drewinfluences from these when presenting

suitable materials for Valley Park in Rye.Cedral Weatherboard has a texturedsurface that echoes the aestheticcharacteristics of timber. However, being made from fibre cement meansthat it provides a long term lowmaintenance solution – avoiding theneed for homeowners to continuallyhaving to maintain their property. Each property on the development isclad in a subtly varied shade of CedralWeatherboard, using a combination ofWhite, Grey Green and Blue Grey, from a palette of 23 colours and fourwoodstain finishes. Cedral Weatherboard has an installedlife expectancy of at least 50 years andwill not warp or shrink. It is quick and

easy to fit, and can be nailed or screwedjust like timber. In addition, CedralWeatherboard has fire classificationsA2-s1, d0 to EN 13501-1.The properties at Valley Park in Ryewere constructed using a KingspanPotton timber frame construction withfactory fitted insulation. These werecovered with a sheathing board andbreathable sarking membrane. The Cedral Weatherboard was thenfixed to timber battens on an externalblockwork outer skin to create a rearventilated cavity. The walls achieve a U-value of 0.20 w/m²K.Cedral Weatherboard contributed tothe sustainability of the developmentbecause it can achieve an A+ rating in

the BRE (Building ResearchEstablishment) Green Guide toSpecification based on generic rating:Cedral Weatherboard - autoclaved fibrecement (calcium silicate) cladding -(Element Ref: 806220701, 806220675,806220676).

New Heat Recovery Ventilation Units Already a leading name in underfloorheating, industry pioneer Robbens hasbroadened its portfolio with the launchof a controlled home ventilation unitwith heat recovery. Developed by parentcompany FRÄNKISCHE, the newProfi-air system combines cutting-edgefan technology with advanced heatrecovery, and intelligent controls toprovide the ultimate in home comfort.Robbens’ Profi-air system is available intwo output sizes – the 250 Touch andthe 400 Touch (for larger properties). Both units are designed to provide a vitalsupply of fresh air for residentialproperties, all whilst removing anyodours or unwanted moisture that cancommonly lead to issues such as dampor mould. With a heat recoveryefficiency of over 90%, they also ensureincoming air is kept at a consistent, comfortable temperature even whenoutside temperatures reach zero.

NIBE Keeps Homes Healthy withHeat Recovery Ventilation LaunchLeading domestic heating manufacturerNIBE has launched a set of brand newheat recovery ventilation units, designedto provide a comfortable, healthyenvironment in well-insulated new buildhomes. The NIBE 250 and 400 heatrecovery units use a unique aircirculation system to provide a vitalsupply of fresh, clean air to meet airquality requirements in new build homes– all without compromising enhancedheat loss protection levels. Working to96% efficiency, the units also use anadvanced heat exchange process toensure that incoming air from outside iskept at a consistently comfortable, stabletemperature.Phil Hurley, managing director at NIBE,says: “With revisions to Part Lstipulating that new builds becomeincreasingly air tight, providing effectiveventilation is becoming more and moreimportant for a healthy building andresidents.”

New intelligent heat recovery withVireo from Greenwood AirvacGreenwood Airvac, the UK’s leadingmanufacturer of domestic ventilationsolutions, announces the launch ofVireo - the next generation of intelligentHeat Recovery Ventilation. Designedand manufactured in the UK, Vireo isintelligent across the board andaddresses all aspects of ventilationspecification. The result is an easier, better and smarter application of heatrecovery ventilation in new homes: stillan excellent solution for direct emissionreduction in SAP, and the best solutionfor air tight homes. A core principle ofGreenwood Airvac, and something atthe centre of Greenwood’s productdevelopment process is GuaranteedInstalled Performance (GIP), now afundamental part of BuildingRegulations and Building Control signoff. Greenwood Airvac believes inmaking the interaction with the productas simple as possible so that the correctventilation is installed from the outset, reducing the risk of costly changes.

Air Vent Technology Ltd has recentlyintroduced its “Infinity” rangeThese fans encompass a comprehensiverange of energy efficient, environ-mentallyfriendly and economical products. Theyall have integral trickle and boostcontrollers for continuous running at theirmost effective supply/extract capacity.Boost to maxi-mum airflow can beachieved by means of a variety of remoteswitches. The ”Infinity” range (availablefor internal or external installation)comprises cabinet fans, both single andtwin; direct drive air handling units withairflows from 0.001 to 1.57 m3/sec; anddirect drive heat recovery units deliveringup to .93 m3/sec - AHU and HR units forEHB or LPHW heating. All modelsincorporate EC motors, have low specificfan powers, and are super quiet with highperformance acoustic linings. A completerange of accessories, step control panelsand electric heater batteries are available. The “Infinity” range complies withbuilding regulations, and in particular isErP Directive 2013 and 2015 compliant.Every unit is built in the UK using thelatest technology."Air Vent Technology is a sister companyto Vectaire.

The value of demand controlled ventilationColin Hone of ventilation expert Aereco calls

for legislation to provide a level playing field forall forms of ventilation in air tight houses.

There has never been a time when theimportance of ventilation in domesticsettings has been so important. Thereason for this is the construction ofbetter insulated air-tight dwellings tobetter control heat losses as theGovernment works towards loweringenergy costs and emissions from fossilfuels.

Achieving the best indoor air quality(IAQ) in these dwellings necessitates theimplementation of an effectiveventilation system that combinesexemplary energy performance andIAQ. However, in this country demandcontrolled ventilation (DCV) in theform of occupancy controlled systems, probably the most cost effective

method, is having an uphill struggle tobe recognised as such, despite itswidespread successful use in over 3million installations on the Europeancontinent. The reluctance to incorporateoccupancy controlled DCV into UKdwellings is down to the limitations ofthe Standard Assessment Procedure(SAP) which is acting as a brake upon itsadoption and stopping the use of aproven energy saving and safe systemthat could save the Government, potentially, billions in energy savings.

The variety of systems currently usedand allowed in Part F, mechanicalventilation with heat recovery(MVHR) and other fixed methods ofventilation, all consistently under-ventilate or over-ventilate.Intermittent operation and nocontrol of air input normally leadsto increased risk of poor IAQ andresulting possible health issues andoccupant interference (fan turnedoff because too noisy being just oneof those triggers).Occupancy controlled DCV isdemonstrably a more effective andsafer way to balance indoor airquality and energy savings andoffers control, energy saving, lowmaintenance and more. The socialhousing sector alone could saveitself £millions by adopting DCVas the standard. These systems are

not only approximately 50 per centcheaper to install than MVHR1, theycan literally be fitted and forgotten – forup to 30 years in the case of DCVPassive Stack Ventilation. And there areno filter changes to be incorporated intomaintenance budgets.DCV works by the incorporation ofhumidity sensitive extract grilles and airinlets that react to occupation offering atruly zonal system that cannot overventilate like fixed systems that continueto operate at the same rate whether thedwelling is empty or occupied. Theseattributes make DCV the most effectiveform of whole house ventilation on themarket today. SAP is the UK Government’smethodology for calculating the energyperformance of dwellings and isauthored and managed by the BuildingResearch Establishment Ltd (BRE)under contract from the Department ofEnergy and Climate Change (DECC).Increased emphasis on SAP as housebuilders look for the most sustainablemethods of ventilation has led to asituation where so called energy-efficientMVHR ventilation systems are seen asthe only system that can ventilate airtight homes adequately and still meetTarget Emission Rates (TERs).

Investment In Historic MarketSquare Protected with ResiblockIt has been some years in the planning andnot without controversy but East Riding ofYorkshire County Council instigated a£2.5m scheme to revamp the paving inthis historic market square. The newpaving was protected with a Resiblocksand stabiliser. Beverley Saturday Marketcan be traced back to the 12th Centuryand remains a thriving market townpopular with both locals and tourists. However, post years of continuous repairsthe market square paving had becomeshabby and resembled a patch-work quilt! The new paving design saw the cobblesand tarmac replaced with various types ofconcrete block paving (to better segregatetraffic flows) and the cracked andcrumbled Yorkstone flags renewed.Whilst this new safer paving provided amuch needed aesthetic improvement, given the high traffic volumes andincreased footfall (the Saturday Market isthe most heavily used area in East Riding)it was identified at the outset that the newpaving should be sealed.

The ‘Ultimate’ finishing touch - stunninghigh security Bi-folds from Sliders UK.

Win more sales and gain better profit margins with the Sliders UK Bi-fold range.

This focus has seen its new aluminium range; the “Ultimate Aluminium Bi-fold” and its existing UPVC range “Ultimate Bi-fold Door”, both gain Secured By Design (SBD) status – the highest security accolade that can be bestowed by the Association of Chief Police Officers.

The third range in the Bi-fold portfolio – Aspect UPVC is currently undergoing SBD appraisal and should be accredited soon.

“The consumer’s awareness of security is driving Bi-fold sales like never before” says Ian Longbottom, managing director of Sliders UK.

And Ian should know. Over the last two years Sliders UK has developed and expanded its Bi-fold portfolio to include three different ranges; one in aluminium and two in UPVC. Central to the success of these products for installers, fabricators and the end user, has been an almost pathological attention to product security.

Research carried out by Sliders UK showed that trade customers did not want the hassle of having to buy different Bi-fold doors from different suppliers.

They wanted a “one stop shop” approach thatsimplified their supply chain and gave them a sof unique benefits that would help them close the sale with the consumer or commercial buye

“So that’s exactly what we’ve delivered” continues Ian, “we are totally focused on helpinfabricators and installers to win more sales at better margins”.

Like the rest of the Sliders UK range, these Bi-folds are available at the extremely competitive trade prices you would expect from a high-volume national fabricator.

Ultimate Doorlinings have launched theperfect solution – their Easyfit fullyadjustable doorlining kit which is notonly available in a beautiful matchingoak veneer, it is extremely easy to fit andavailable off the shelf.Ultimate Doorlinings’ Oak doorliningscan work in any situation, adjusting tothe depth of any opening, requires littleor no cutting, has invisible fixings toprovide a perfect finish and is quick andsimple to install. It will give you aperfect finish every time and save youeffort, time and money.Because of the complexities involvedfew people attempt the challenge offitting matching oak doorlinings butnow there is a solution which is easy foreveryone, and is importantly very

affordable. The old way required a lotof fiddly and time consuming work toget the doorlining to the right size forthe door opening and of course thework gets tougher if that opening is nota standard size or the wall is irregular inany way, and there is always going to belots of making good to do too. With Ultimate Doorlinings the only cutneeded is to get it to the right length. The unique modular design means it isadjustable to fit any door opening, andbecause all the fixings are covered bythe Doorstops all the fixings areinvisible and there is no making good.Director Tony Longstaff says: “We’vedeveloped this fully adjustabledoorlining product so that it is reallyeasy to fit. The modular design means

that the doorlining is assembled in twoparts – and that’s the key to itsversatility. Once one side of thedoorlining has been fixed flush to onewall, and then it is really straightforward to offer up and fix the otherside to the door opening. When thesecond part comes in, it doesn’t matterhow wide or how irregular the openingis…the frame can simply be adjusted tofit. Then screwed into place. Simple.Any gaps – and the fixings – arecovered by the doorstops which areneatly held in place with biscuits andgrooves.”The simplicity of the design and theadjustability – covering wall widthsvarying in size by up to 34mm - meansthat there now is a ready solution to the

age old problem of how to fit affordabledoorlinings, and with the range of Oakdoors growing almost daily this simple, adjustable product means every homecan have beautiful oak doors, doorlinings and architraves to match. The Ultimate Doorlinings range of oakveneer adjustable doorlinings is innatural wood suitable for Paint, Stain orVarnish treatment and is fully FSCapproved. Fire Certificated, a white-primed version and other wood finishesare planned.

For more details there is a great website at

installation guide.

The brilliant Easyfit fullyadjustable doorlining

Fitting beautiful Oak doors only goes part way to transforming a home’s appearance – but replacingthe architrave and doorlining has, until now, presented a challenge too far for most people. Though architraves are available the only way to replace the doorlining was either to pay for expensivebespoke doorlinings or struggle to find a timber merchant who was prepared to supply you withlengths of Oak and then you had the laborious task of rip sawing to size, with lots of sawing, planing, sanding and making good. It is hardly surprisingly that most of the time boring white painteddoorlinings were thought to be the only sensible way forward. This has now changed.

Building homes for the future? Better build in Sky±HD

Talk to Sky about the digital entertainment buyers wantWhoever your new builds are aimed at, your buyers will be looking for digital entertainment that keeps pace with technology. Increasingly, that means Sky±HD.

By integrating a ‘5 cable IRS’ system and having 2 signal feeds to each satellite point (the only way of getting all the features Sky±HD offers), your residents will be able to enjoy TV the way they want it. And that makes your properties even more attractive to potential buyers.

Our Specialist Installation Team can work directly with you, or your chosen contractors, to fit this future-proof solution. So arrange a free survey today.

Sky TV: Sky box and Sky TV subscription required for customers to receive Sky digital programming. Only compatible with digital satellite. Two satellite feeds required for full Sky±HD functionality. You must get all consents required (e.g. landlord’s). General: Minimum Sky TV, Sky±HD subscriptions are 12 months. Further terms apply. Calls cost up to 5.1p per minute and up to 13.1p connection fee for BT customers. Calls from other providers may vary. Information only applies to residential customers in the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man. Information correct at 5 April 2013.
