The Latin American Web Design
Concepts for localization efforts for the University of Baltimore
What is Localization?
Localization is the process of adapting a website to a specific culture, but it more than translation.
地方化更比翻譯是適應網站的過程具體文化,但是它。
La localización es el proceso de adaptar un Web site a una cultura específica, pero él más que la traducción.
Localization Is “Culturability”“It is color, spatial organization, fonts, shapes, icons, and metaphors, geography, language, flags, sounds, and motion contribute to the design and content of a web page, which directly affects the way that a user interacts with the site.” (p. 4)

We could have the background be a city theme or a university. What do you think? It’s more contextual.
Culture, Cognition & Design
Cultural variability:• Expression of differing national values• Differences in socio-cognitive processes
(analytic versus holistic thinking)• Psychological and neural tendencies
Translation is not enough – different cultural characteristics requires different interface designs.
Localization is a key factor in engaging and gaining trust with persons from other cultures
