A Preliminary Report of the Sixth Chinese Bridge Speech Contest on the US West Coast for High School Students
The Sixth Chinese Bridge Speech Contest on the US West Coast for High School Students was successfully held in CLERC conference building in Santa Clara, CA on April 23, 2016. The contest was organized by the Chinese Language Association of Secondary-Elementary Schools and Chinese Language Education and Research Center. Sponsors of the event were the Education Section of the Consulate General of the PRC in San Francisco and Hanban. Also present at the contest was Consul LI Renzhu from the Education Section of the Consulate General of PRC in San Francisco. 10 finalists were invited to the contest. The contestants were grouped into two categories, Intermediate and Advanced. Students who have learned Chinese for less than four years are grouped in the Intermediate group and those with a learning experience of more than four years are grouped in the Advanced Group. Sindura Sriram from Monta Vista School in Cupertino won the first prize of the Intermediate Group, and Benjamin Pribe from Monta Vista School in Cupertino won the first prize in the Advanced Group.
The MC was Preeti Naidu (Cupertino High School), who was 1st Place Winner, Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Secondary School Students Preliminary Contest in US West Coast (2015).

At the opening ceremony, Ms. Ying Jin, the Organizing Committee Chair for this event introduced distinguished guests, and the judges (below), Xiu Geng (Chinese American International School), Yanan Vrudny (Gunn High School) and Xiaohua Yu (Piedmont High School).
