This brochure produced in commemoration of the Installation .. of His Majesty Tuanku Syed Putra ibni AI-marhum Syed Hassan

Jamalullail , the Third Yang di-Pertuan Agong of the Federation

of Malaya, on the 4th January, 1961, at the Dewan Tunku Abdul

Rahman, Kuala Lumpur, gives brief description of the Royal Regalia

and their meaning. Embodying in their design and make-up the

heritage of our past, the royal ornaments have now become part

of the new and growing traditions of our young nation. Their

THRONE

SINGGilHSANil {Throne} is made of Nyireh Batu from Johore and finished in

natural rich colour of medium mahogany. Standing 6 feet 2 inches high the seat is upholstered

with foam rubber and covered with red hide with the Royal Coat of Arms embossed in gold

in the centre of the back. The intricate carvings in national floral motif culminating in an

Islamic crown and the Federation crescent and eleven .. poin ted star are gilded in genuine

gold leaf.

REGALIA BEARERS

The regalia except the Royal Yellow Umbrellas and Royal Spears are borne by officers

of the Armed Forces and the Police specially selected to escort HIs Majesty the Yang di .. Pertuan

Agong during ceremonial occasions. The Roya l Umbrellas and Royal Spears are carried by the

rank and file of the Federation Armed Forces.

TIARA AND NECKLACE

GENDIK (Tiara) is made from platinum and is studded profusely with diamonds in

the design of A wanlarat. In the centre and on the A u·anlarat is a golden crescent with

an eleven-pointed star. both also made of platinum. The Gendik is worn by Her Majesty

the Raja Permaisuri Agong on royal ceremonial occasions and on the day of the installation

of His Majesty. It is so designed that the Gendik can be broken up to form a locket and

two brooches.

KALONG (Necklace) is made from platinum and profusely studded with diamonds.

It is also worn by Her Majesty during royal ceremonial occasions and on the day of the

installation of His Majesty. The KaZang can be broken up into a pair of earrings. brooches

and a choker.
