Those who spend (in Allah's Cause) in prosperity and in
adversity, who repress anger, and who pardon men; verily,
Allah loves Al-Muhsinun (the good-doers). (Surah Aal-
Imran, ayah 134)
“Anger makes you smaller, while forgiveness
forces you to grow beyond what you are.”
-Cherie Charter-Scott
What is forgiveness? Every person has been wronged by
someone else one time or another in his/her life, whether
the person wronged him accidentally or intentionally. We’ve
all heard the saying ‘forgive and forget’ and we’ve all heard
that instead of holding a grudge and animosity, we should
forgive someone who has done something wrong against
you. But what if you feel that you are justified in your
anger towards the person who wronged you? What if
someone has hurt you so severely (emotionally or
physically) that it is hard to justify forgiving them? It can
be hard to follow the behavior of forgiving other people
that Allah used to describe al-Muhsinun, the doers of
good. The Shaytan will always be trying to make you think
about the satisfaction you will get by getting revenge, and
how you will seem weak if you forgive your opponent. We
must always remember that, after the Prophet (SAW)
liberated Makkah, he gave a general pardon to 10,000
Makkans, many of which who had persecuted his followers
and tried to spread falsehood and lies about him and his
teachings for the past 20 years. May Allah help us become
forgiving people and guide us to the straight path. Ameen!
The Student Council presents
The Buzz! ISSD Newsletter
Humans of ISSD
The Student Council will be starting
a new project named, “Humans of
ISSD.” This project is based on the
project known as Humans of New
York. Every month, the Student
Council will select a student from
each class to interview and learn
more about. Their stories will be
typed up alongside a picture of
them, which will be posted on our
Student Council wall in front of the
middle school campus. The purpose
of this project is to get to know
students at school better and to
foster new friendships. We will be
starting this project in April, after
Spring Break, Inshallah.
Debate Club
The Student Council will be starting a new
Debate Club, Inshallah. The main goal of
this club is to provide a training platform
for the development of students'
communicative abilities, critical thinking
skills, and teamwork collaboration. Students
will have the opportunity to practice and
share their skill development. If you are
interested, please email the Student Council
by
March 30:
Objectives of the club:

leadership and group participation.
To understand and communicate various
forms of argument effectively in a variety of
contexts.
To develop the ability to analyze
controversies, select & evaluate evidence,
and construct & refute arguments.
We are so happy to announce that the
Debate Club coach will be

Arabic Day
On Saturday. March 18th the class of
Arabic 5/6 was lucky enough to be able to
attend a fun event called Kaleidoscope of the
Arab World that displayed Arab culture and
foods. The students preformed a play based off
an Arabic T.V show called “Ali Baba”. They also
watched a presentation that displayed some
Arabic dances, songs, and poetry. The class was
also able to enjoy some delicious Arab foods
such as shawarma and more. The day was an
amazing one and a true eye opener to what the
Arab culture is like.

Robotics Club
Since its inception in 2010, the ISSD Robotics Club
partakes in two competitions at the regional and
international levels; FLL (First Lego League, 32,000
teams from around the world) and Botball (90% of the
teams are high school teams). Teams train during
study hall time and after school. Students are judged
on core values, robot performance, research/solution
involving a real-world problem, and an oral
presentation. The purpose of the club is to stimulate
and encourage students to pursue their interest
in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).
MashAllah, The FLL season is over this month and we
are so proud to share our results with you:
First Place in innovative solution to animals'
problems out of 33 teams at the Anaheim FLL
Qualifying tournament.
Judges' Trophy for outstanding team
performance at the Anaheim FLL Qualifying

Engineering Olympics
The Student Council of ISSD will be
hosting the Engineering Olympics on
May 3. The purpose of this event is to
engage our young generation to seek
interest in the field of Science, ,
Technology, Engineering and Math.
Students can form teams of up to 4
members. All of the designing and
building will occur before the day of
the competition at home. Details about
the Olympics events and rules will be
sent in a different email this week,
InshaAllah.

Science Fair
MashaAllah, 26 of our 7th and 8th grade students
participated in the Greater San Diego Science and
Engineering Fair.
Students who participate in the Science Fair
develop skills in the following areas:
Scientific investigation: develop an idea,
plan an experiment, and conduct an
experiment
Project management: manage a project and
meet deadlines
Scientific analysis: keep a logbook, analyze
data, create a chart or graph
Communication: write results, create a
presentation board, present and discuss
results
Our students presented their projects to the fair
judges on March 14
Please check results on the last page.
Congratulations also to Ms. Arwa for her award at
the science fair award ceremony
The Student Council encourages all students to be leaders. We believe all students should have the opportunity to have a say in what goes on around the school. We want all students to contribute by giving us ideas for more events or activities for the school. Ideas that we choose to do will be led by the student who came up with the idea, but the Student Council will be supervising and offering assistance. We also encourage students to contribute to the newsletter so we can have a variety of texts.
Jazak’Allahu Khairan,
Student Council
