Boots and Belles Goes Off Without a Hitch! On April 15th, the juniors
and seniors from BF-DC
Schools decided to put on
their sharpest clothing, put
on their best makeup, and
attend the Boots and Belles
themed Prom. The entire
event was fantastic, from
the pictures to the After
Prom activities.
The night started off with
the Promenade. The great
walkthrough and picture
fest sadly had to be moved
inside for weather related
reasons, yet the attendees
didn’t seem to mind. Dinner
followed, with the sopho-
more servers bringing out
plates of delicious salads,
decadent peach cobbler,
and a fantastic main course
including grilled chicken,
scalloped potatoes, green
beans and a tasty dinner
roll.
After dinner the Senior
and Junior Classes went to
take group pictures (both in
the serious and goofy fash-
ion), followed by the sopho-
more servers who volun-
teered, and then the Senior
Hall of Fame pictures. Those
who didn’t go off to take
more pictures danced to
their hearts content, the
night revealing people to be
well skilled in dancing.
The 2016 Prom King
Kaden Matuszewski and
Prom Queen Elena Rodri-
guez were announced and
they shared a dance.
Sadly, the event ended
late into the night, only to
be followed by the After
Prom with their many
snacks and activities from a
giant blow up wrecking ball
to smaller suits used to play
soccer while bumping into
people. There were many
gift cards given to the par-
ticipants as prizes and eve-
ryone had a great time.
Thank you to all who
helped to decorate, make
and serve food and helped
to make this Prom and Af-
ter Prom fantastic.

participated in the Jump
Rope for Heart campaign on
April 5th and 6th. Will Rog-

$2510.7 in donations. The
hard work put in by the stu-
dents is critical to the suc-
cess of the American Heart
Association. Because of
Jump Rope for Heart over
$3.9 billion dollars have
been invested in research,
over 30 million kids now eat

over 1 million high school

The Burns Flat-Dill City
second grade students pre-
sented a music program,
"Second Grade Shines," at
6:00 pm Thursday, March
31 in the Will Rogers Gym-
nasium.
The program consisted of
some of the students favor-
ite songs. The children's
book author, Dr. Seuss, is
celebrated in the month of
March; therefore, tribute
was paid to him with "Dr.
Seuss, We Love You." The
s i l l y t r a d i t i o n a l
"Skinnamarink" and Rodg-
ers and Hammerstein's "Do
Re Mi" were enjoyed by the
audience, also. The stu-
dents performed the lively,
patriotic song by George M.
Cohan, "You're a Grand Old
Flag." Warning us of some
of the simple dangers in
life, Ashley Parker, Elijah
Ellis, Jaiden Crotts, Kodie
Lopez, Oceanna Garner,
Lyssa Day, and Jamison
Williams interjected pre-
cautions in the song, "Watch
Out!" The French traditional
song "Frere Jacques" was
sung with an ostinato ac-
companiment. Xylophones
and metalophones were
played by Edgar Baez,
Loghan Brue, Johshua
Knight, Ciara Niavez, Korbin
Perriman, Tanner Uecke,
Dakota Walker, and Dakoda
Weese. The students ended
their performance signing
"You Are My Sunshine."
Thank you to the second
grade teachers, Mrs. Sel-
man, Miss Hines, and Miss
Howes, for their assistance.
Directing the students was
Mrs. Fite, elementary music
instructor.
The xylophones used by
the students were pur-
chased with a "Classroom
Enhancement Grant" of
$4,230 awarded to the ele-
mentary music program by
the Carolyn Watson Rural
Oklahoma Community Foun-
dation.

$50.00 were invited to par-
ticipate in the “Pie the

incentives. For every $50
the students raised they
could pick a teacher or ad-
ministrator to pie on Friday
April 8th. There were 46
students that participated
and 23 of those raised $50
or more. Eighteen members
of the Will Rogers Elemen-

yummy whipped cream pie.
Friday afternoon the stu-
dents attended a Glow Party
in the gym with black lights,

On Monday, April 11th, a
Testing Pep rally for the 3rd-
5th graders was held at Will
Rogers Elementary School.
The students started off
walking through the halls
while the lower grades lined
the halls cheering them on
and waving signs and cheer-
ing “Test, Test, do your
best!!! The students started
at the early childhood wing
and they went through the
halls ending in the gym.
Once all of the students
were in the gym the boys
and girls kept the chant go-
ing, cheering along with the
song “We Will Rock You”.
They listened to Kid Presi-
dent and watched funny and
inspirational videos that the
kids loved! Mrs. Dixon
played Eagle Trivia with boys
against girls. The classroom
teachers gave some last
minute advice, but the big-
gest advice they gave to the
students was; “It is just a
test, it doesn’t determine
who you are. It is only one
measure and it is only one
part of your life. The test
does not predict or tell us
what you are like or how
funny you are or what you
will grow up to be. Everyday
from birth up until this point
is a factor in how you will
do.”
The students all enjoyed
the pep rally and left to
start testing motivated to
try their best.

“The Further Adventures of Louie the Lightning Bug”. Louie the Lightning Bug is world famous for being an expert of electrical safety. When reporter P.J. O’Snork arrives to conduct an inter-view, she finds a surprise - Louie is missing! P.J. sets out on a mission to find him, and along the way she discovers that Santorini, the self-described Man of a Thousand Disguises, is up to his old tricks. Santorini en-courages people to misuse
electricity. This 25 minute live show teaches K-6 students how electricity is made, the uses of electricity, how to identify dangerous electrical situa-tions and how to stay safe around electricity. The stu-dents at Will Rogers Ele-mentary enjoyed the show on April 6, 2016. The stu-dents also received work-books to use with their teachers.

shouldn’t.

ber who your true friends are and stand by them.

Movie Review Aladdin
Starring the Voices of Robin Williams,
Johnathan Freeman, Scott Weigner,
Lea Salonga, Frank Welker,
and Doglas Seale
Directed by John Musker and Ron Clements
A great mystical energy pops out of the lamp that Alad-
din rubbed, expanding to reveal a blue spirit, who looks
like he is stretching, “Oi! Ten-thousand yeeeears will give
you such a crick in the neck!”
That is the line that got me utterly hooked on the
movie. I was somewhere around 6 or 7 when I saw it on
VHS, and Aladdin is still one of my favorite movies to this
day. Aladdin is about a guy, named Aladdin (wow, go fig-
ure), who finds a magical lamp and tries to woo the beau-
tiful, yet stubborn, Princess Jasmine, all while darker forc-
es want to do the same thing, only to take over the Sul-
tan’s Kingdom.
Along the line of Disney movies, this one is proba-
bly in my top 5. I love how they directed it, animated it,
and how the story was so well written. Also, Robin Wil-
liams (Rest in Piece) is a great treasure and I loved him in
the movie. I give it an 8.5 out of 10, because I don’t feel
like it is a straight 10, yet it shouldn’t be demeaned.

Friends from Weather-
ford traveled to Yukon to
help with this event. The
firemen came dressed as
clowns as they have in years
past. Southwestern Oklaho-
ma State University stu-
dents brought games, activi-
ties, and prizes for all ath-
letes to enjoy. The Mighty
Eagles enjoyed a comple-
mentary lunch from Yukon
McDonalds. The Coaches
are very proud of the Mighty
Eagles and are excited
about the upcoming State
Track and Field Competition
they will be competing in on
the OSU campus in Stillwa-
ter later in May.
The Mighty Eagles want to
give a special shout out to
Donavan Webb for going
with them and cheering
them on while they were
competing. Thank you Do-
navan!
