Judy

They say that when the going gets tough, the tough get going, and I think that’s probably true — except when the going involves shopping. I mean, when my husband and I realized that the economy was toast, we slammed the brakes on all non-essential spending by agreeing to not go shopping nearly as often. And when that only worked “kinda sorta,” we upped the ante even more, agreeing to not go into a checkout line anywhere with anything ever until we’d had time to think that pur-chase to death. Well, that did it! You would not believe the savings! But the truth is that frugality had nothing to do with it. Seems that when you reach our age, waiting even a few minutes before buying some-thing pretty much means forgetting what that something was you were going to buy, making our shopping “whoas” the perfect solution to our budget woes. Hey! Works for us!

HoroscopeAries: 3/21 – 4/19

Weekly Overview (Week starting on March 28)

You have a goal in mind big time on Monday. Be careful about trampling on others to get there — it’s bad for your karma! Around Tuesday and Wednesday, you’re more of an idea person rather than an action go-getter. Get in cahoots with someone who thinks like you do for double the brainpower (and double the fun, too). Then after all that conscious thought, your subconscious has a message for you at the end of the workweek. Write down those dreams and tune into those visions. This weekend, toss the schedule aside and see what allures you from moment to moment.

A while ago my dad was trying to send me a picture mes-sage, instead, he somehow sent 150 blank text messages each to me, my mom, and my sister. J M

system for sending orders to the kitchen at a res-taurant: Most places use computers. The servers touch the boxes and send. Some places write them up on a pad, tear off the sheet walk over to an order window and hang them with a clothespin on a string or wire in front of the chef. The LaSalle Market in Collinsville has by far the best system – efficient AND entertaining. After they write the order on a pad, they tear off the sheet, clothes pin it to a hook on a zip line and launch it down to the kitchen. If, as sometimes happens because the old store’s foundation tends to move up or down in winter, the order will zip back in the opposite direction and they give you your money back!

My mum called me from across the house to fix an urgent problem. When I asked her what the problem was, she told me the mouse has stopped working after she plugged in her USB, and that it must’ve given her a virus. She had unplugged the mouse to put the USB in, even though there were a lot of other spots to put it in. Gemma C

While doing my assignment one night my dad comes into my room and asks me to put a song on Youtube and play it on my surround system for him. I agree, and he tells me to look up Mink Deville, “Cadillac Walk.” I didn’t have much luck finding a version my dad liked, so he stared to rant and go on with how one time Youtube would give you all the songs that you wanted and how he thinks they’re “hiding” all the good songs and planning to start a youtube2 and charge money for the songs people really want to hear.
