From the Principal… e Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom was one of my favorite
books when I was a boy. Corrie and her sister Betsy were imprisoned in a concentration camp during World War II for hiding Jews. Eventually they were caught. ! ey went to several prisons before going to Ravensbrück concentration camp, a women’s labor camp in Germany. Betsy died there. Corrie eventually got out. Re# ecting on her imprisonment she later said, “If you look to the world you’ll be distressed, if you look within, you’ll be depressed, if you look to Christ you’ll be at rest.” It all depends on what you have your eyes on. If we only focus on the problems in the world, we will de$ nitely be discouraged. We will at times feel like giving up. But if we keep our eyes focused on God, the outcome is di% erent. One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Jonah 2:7. “When I had lost all hope, I once again turned my thoughts to the Lord.” Discouraged by what is going on in the world? Keep your eyes focused on Jesus!
