INTRODUCTION TOJAPAN WOMEN’S UNIVERSITY

Japan Women’s University was founded in 1901 as the first women’s higher educational institution in Japan. Number of Students:6,500

Mejiro Campus Nishiikuta Campus

The center of Tokyo Half an hour by train from Shinjuku

Japan Women’s University (JWU ) has two campuses, in Tokyo and Kanagawa prefecture. →Very convenient for sightseeing & entertainment!

held at the Mejiro campus.

take courses at the Nishiikuta campus.

CURRICULUM FOR EXCHANGE STUDENTS

We offer 2 intermediate courses for exchange students.

① The beginning intermediate class※ is suitable for students who can read and write 200 kanji when they join the program. Their goal will be the N3 level of the JLPT.

② The upper intermediate class※ will be reached to the N2 level of the JLPT.

※ Based on their Japanese language placement score at arrival, students are assigned to the appropriate class.

CREDITS FOR JAPANESE LANGUAGE COURSES

The Japanese language course has 7 morning classes per week.

After completion, exchange students will receive 14 credits for each fall and spring semester.

Total class time for each semester is 9,450 minutes(157.5 hours).

The 5-credit winter intensive course is a 5-week course from early February to early March.

Total class time is 2,025 minutes(33.75 hours).

Tutor Arrangement for Exchange Students

Tutors meet assigned exchange students occasionally and support their campus life through roles such as these: Pick-up service at arrival Assist with class registration procedures Introduce facilities and services Language exchange learning

ACCOMMODATION

On campus(5 minutes from the campus)

Advantages Very close to the university. Exchange students can communicate

daily with Japanese students.

Disadvantages Rules and curfew are very strict. They are not basically allowed to

stay out overnight (But if they submit “Overnight Leave Request “ in advance, they are allowed to do it).

Off campus (About 1 hour from JWU by train)

Advantages Exchange students can enjoy

authentic Japanese family life. They can learn Japanese from

conversation with the family.Disadvantages

They must respect the family's rules, possibly including curfew.
