Making the extraordinary commonplace is more than a slogan, more than a simple wish. Turning the extraordinary into a common occurrence is how these 49 accommodation properties and 45 restaurants of different styles and types in Cantabria are meeting their guests´ expectations.

Each of the owners and employees of these hotels, inns, manor houses, palaces and restaurants in Cantabria is committed to ensuring that their guests will be pleasantly surprised. Just doing a good job, adapting to market new trends or abiding regulations is not enough for them, it is merely a given. Their challenge is to create an awe-inspiring difference.

The beauty of the buildings, always located in unique surroundings; the painstaking decoration of the lounges in an effort to make them comfortable and pleasing to the eye; the table settings, the gardens, the lighting, the colours and even the technology behind the scenes that makes everything run smoothly are merely the stage setting. The truly relevant aspect about this Club are the actors: maids, waiters/ waitresses, owners who greet their guests, chefs devoting their passionate know-how to every dish, receptionists on top of any detail that could improve guest satisfaction and many more.

It has been nine years of constant effort, of gradually winning over their guests and earning their loyalty, of conquering new and demanding markets not only in Spain, but also in Europe and the rest of the world. During these nine years, the number of members has been growing. In 2009, for the second time, this impressive accommodation and food service offering is being presented jointly. These hotels and restaurants are the best examples of what Cantabria has to offer to its visitors. How to use this guide

The Cantabria Infinita Quality Club Guide proposes attractive suggestions to enjoy the most welcoming Cantabria accomodations and a plentiful gastronomy. These pages present a careful selection of 49 accomodation properties and 45 restaurants scattered along the Eastern, Central and Western regions arranged by alphabetical order.

Each establishment features a basic data card, along with a brief description of its most distinct characteristics. When an establishment’s accommodation and restaurant facilities are both members of the Quality Club, they will always be marked with the H&R symbol. Also, new additions to the Quality Club are identified with the reference [09]. Finally, a small map facilitates access to establishments.

Additionally, this Guide includes a map of the region featuring the location of all the establishments, the main towns and touristic attractives, general tourism information on Cantabria, its festivals and events, other alternative indexes for searching the establishments, a reference to the Quality Club website and a service diagram for the establishments.

Please do not arrive unannounced to the establishments featured in this Guide; it is advisable to call and make a reservation in advance. Changing ambiance inside, in line with a lively, ever-evolving business and a creative owner who has learned to adapt to the times without losing a bit of authenticity. In the vicinity of the Solares spa, the restaurant shares the building with a small hotel also belonging to the family. Hearthy dishes, barely touched with a necessary updating. Their famous “cáricos” (red beans) from the mountains are considered the best in the world, as well as the veal kidneys. The two recently renovated dining rooms display exhibits by Cantabrian artists, whose works are for sale in a space that preserves, with its impeccable staging, the flavour of traditional inns. Stone is ever-present at this 19th century manor house. Stone on the noble façade and the family’s coats of arms, stone as a decorative element in lounges and rooms. The original beamwork has been preserved and the decoration integrates antique and contemporary furnishings. Surrounded by a recently expanded garden, in a rural environment, the house looks out to the valley from the vicinity of the coast and the Santander bay. A garden, magnificent trees and the river surround this 1884 building located in the town of Liérganes. In 1997 the house was renovated into a small hotel, featuring traditional furnishings and the small details typical of mountain homes. Bright colours and large windows. A recently updated pavillion overlooking the Miera river to spend the evenings. Guests may go fishing, hiking, horse riding or play golf. Homemade baked goods, Liérganes butter, artisan marmalade and white tablecloths at the garden for breakfast. The restoration of this 19th century house built by indianos (Spaniards who came back with fortunes made in latin America) strived for both fidelity to the original and a touch of the unex-pected. The combination of subtly lit oak wood and stone with the most functional design produces a warm, interesting atmosphere. The building, featurig a comfortable glass-paned porch, is surrounded by a 8.000 sq.meter estate. Find charming, quaint corners on the terraced terrain dotted with centerarian trees. Three masonry stone arches, below an intricate coat of arms shielded by rampant lions, indicate the noble origin of this 17th century manor house, surrounded by a 5.000 sq. meter garden, and located nearby the central Cantabrian beaches. Jesús Sánchez is one of Spain’s most awarded chefs. Opening this restaurant, located in a 17th century manor house/palace, is the culmination of an admirable professional career, featuring one Michelin star since 1995. Dining rooms exhude character with stone, noble woods and the treatment of light, featuring a variety of finishes and colors. Cuisine with its own name, perfectly constructed and carefully worked. Very extensive, well selected wine list, with over 250 entries. Aperitifs and appetizers at the relaxing summer terrace and culinary technique at the new Kitchen Classroom and a table inside the kitchen in order to enjoy this experience from the inside. Sweet lovers and connosieurs from Cantabria and Spain point out this restaurant –which the owner sometimes calls “the diner”- as a reference.
