TRADITIONAL SEAT
Cafe chair in Paris
Stoping at a Cafe in Paris is an integral part of the of the Paris experience, for tourists as well as locals. For
tourists, they are a way to observe Parisians in their daily life and for locals it is an occasion to catch up on
gossip or to establish their place in a certain social class. There are different types of Cafes, such as the historical
ones where Picasso, Giacometti and Sartre frequented. Others that offer views upon the city and give an aerial
perspective on the capital. Some come with the intention of people watching (due to their location and clientele)
and it is for this type of cafe I have designed a chair. inspired by the ZigZag Chair of Gerrit Rietveld. It is more
contemporary than most Parisian cafe chairs but also add more functionality. the armrest will have cupholders, contemporary than most Parisian cafe chairs but also add more functionality. the armrest will have cupholders,
that way clients will not have to continuously turn to the table to drink their coffees. It also offers a place under
the chair for tourists to put their bags without them touching the floor. The seat will also be wider to allow
customers to sit comfortably in the chair with their coats on
