2. Hardware Installation

Note: Gather all information related to your Internet Connection before youstart. If necessary, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

2. If you plan on connecting a multi-function printer to the USB port onthe TEW-634GRU, install theprinter drivers to your computer.

Then shutdown the printer anddisconnect the printer from yourcomputer.Note: Please refer to your printer'smanual for printer installationinstructions.

1. Verify that you have an Internetconnection when connecting yourcomputer directly to the Cable orDSL modem. Open your browser(e.g. Internet Explorer) and type ina URL (e.g.http://www.trendnet.com) in the

address bar.

7. Verify that the following panel lightsare on: Power, LAN, WAN, WLANand USB.

6. Connect the AC Power Adapter tothe wireless router and then to apower outlet.

5. Connect the 2dBi detachableantennas to the TEW-634GRU.

3. Connect one end of a RJ-45 cableto the TEW-634GRUs WAN port.Connect the other end of the cableto your modem.

4. Connect one end of a RJ-45 cableto one of the TEW-634GRU's LANports. Connect the other end of the

cable to the computer's Ethernetport.

3. Configure the Wireless Router

Note: It is recommended that you configure the Wireless Router from a wiredcomputer.

2. Enter the User Name andPassword, and then click Log In.

User Name: admin Password: admin.

3. The Wizard will automatically

appear. Click Wizard if the Wizarddoes not automatically appear.

4. Click Next.

1. Open your web browser, typehttp://192.168.10.1 in theAddress bar, and then press Enter.

5. Enter a Password, verify thePassword and then click Next.

By default, the Password is admin.

6. Select your Time Zone and thenclick Next.

7. Click Next. Note: Do not changedefault settings unless it is

conflicting with your existinghardware.

8. Configure the settings based oninformation provided by your ISP.Follow the wizard instructions tocomplete the configuration.

Note: Each Internet Connectiontype may have different options.

Note: It is recommended that you enable encryption on the wireless router.Please refer to the User Guide on the User's Guide CD-ROM for information onsetting up encryption on the wireless router.

10. Click Restart.

9. Enter the desired SSID. Then clickNext. By default, the SSID isTRENDnet634.

1. Insert the Utility CD-ROM intoyour computer's CD-ROM Drive.

Note: Before installing the utility, install the printer drivers to your computer.

Then shutdown the printer and disconnect the printer from your computer.Please refer to your printer's manual for printer installation instructions.

instructions. Then click Finish.

1. Double click on the TRENDnetUSB Control Center icon.

2. Select the printer. ClickAutoConnect Printerand clickSet AutoConnect Printer.

Note: Only one user can print at a time in Auto Connect mode. Once a userhas finished printing, another user can print to the printer.

5. The USB Device Control Centerwill now show the printer as anAutoConnected Printer.

7. Select the printer. Then clickDisconnect. (Optional).

Note: For Auto Connect printing, a user does not have to wait for the currentowner to click disconnect. Follow step 1 to grab ownership of the print server.

6. User can now start printing.

4. Type in a name, select image typeand choose the desired path. Thenclick Scan.

Troubleshooting

Q1:

A1:

I typed http://192.168.10.1 in my Internet Browser's Address Bar, but an errormessage says The page cannot be displayed. How can I get into the TEW-634GRU's web configuration page?

First, check your hardware settings again by following the instructions inSection 2. Second, make sure the LAN and WLAN lights are lit. Third, make sureyour TCP/IP settings are set to Obtain an IP address automatically (see thesteps below).

1. Go into the Control Panel, click Network and

Internet, click Network and Sharing Center,click Manage Network Connections and thenright-click the Local Area Connection icon andthen click Properties.

1. Go into the Control Panel, double-click theNetwork Connections icon and then right-clickthe Local Area Connection icon and then clickProperties.

2. Click Internet Protocol Version

4(TCP/IPv4) and then click Properties.Then click on Obtain an IP addressautomatically.

Fourth, press on the factory reset button for 15 seconds.

I am not sure what type of Internet Account Type I have for my Cable/DSL

connection. How do I find out?Contact your Internet Service Provider's (ISP) support service for the correctinformation.

The Wizard does not appear. What should I do?First, click on Wizard on the left hand side. Second, near the top of the

browser, Pop-up blocked message appear. Right click on the message andselect Always Allow Pop-ups from This Site. The next time to login to the TEW-634GRU, this window will appear. Third, disable your browser's pop up blocker.

I went through the Wizard, but I can not get onto the Internet. What should Ido?

First, verify that you can get onto the Internet with a direct connection into yourmodem. Second, contact your ISP and verify all the information that you have inregards to your Internet connection settings is correct. Third, power cycle yourmodem and router. Unplug the power to the modem and router. Wait 30seconds, and then reconnect the power to the modem. Wait for the modem to fully

boot up, and then reconnect the power to the router.

I can not make a wireless connection to the Router. What should I do?First, make sure that the antennas are connected to the TEW-634GRU.

Second, double check that the WLAN light on the Router is lit. Third, login to yourrouter. Enter http://192.168.10.1 into the address bar of your router. The defaultuser name and password is admin. Click Wireless and then click Basic. Makesure Enabled is selected for Wireless and then click Apply. Fourth, power cyclethe TEW-634GRU. Unplug the power to the TEW-634GRU. Wait 15 seconds,then plug the power back in to the TEW-634GRU. Fivth, contact the manufacturerof your wireless network adapter and make sure the wireless network adapter isconfigured with the proper SSID. The preset SSID is TRENDnet634.

The TRENDnet USB Control Center does not detect the TEW-634GRU. Whatshould I do?

First, double check your hardware connections; make sure that the TEW-

634GRU is powered ON and is properly connected. Second, disable anysoftware firewall programs such as ZoneAlarm or Norton Internet Security. If yourcomputer is running Windows XP or Vista, disable the built-in firewall. Third, goto System -> Exit in the USB Control Center to close the program. Then doubleclick on the TRENDnet USB Control Center icon to open up the program. Fifth,power cycle the TEW-634GRU. Unplug the power to the TEW-634GRU, wait 15seconds, then plug the TEW-634GRU back in.

No window appears after I connect my computer to my storage device. Whatshould I do?

On Windows 2000/XP, double click on My Computer. A list of drives appears.Double click on the drive for your storage device. On Windows Vista, click thewindows icon on the bottom right hand corner and click Computer. A list of drivesappears. Double click on the drive for your storage device.

A connect device failed error message appears when I try to connect to myUSB storage device. What should I do?

This message appears when another computer current has access to theUSB storage device. Press Request to Connect in the USB Control Center utilityand wait for the other user to accept your request. You may also get access to theUSB storage device by unplugging the power to the router and plugging the powerto the router back in. In the USB Control Center utility, click Connect. The errormessage will no longer appear.

I cannot set my printer as an auto-connect printer. What should I

do? Verify that no other computer is using the printer. In the utility, if there is acomputer name next to the printer name, another computer is using the printer.Once the user has finished printing or scanning, you will be able to print or scan.
