(Emily Faith Culp was born on February 1, 2006 to Aimee and Craig Culp.)

(Emily was born with a chromosome abnormality

called Turner Syndrome.)

Emily nació con un anormalidad de cromosoma se llama Turner Syndrome.

(Turner Syndrome is a defect in the sex chromosome. Although she is still considered female, her chromosomes are XO rather than XX or XY.

She was born with 45 chromosomes instead of 46 like you and I.)

Turner Syndrome es un defecto en la cromosoma de

sexo. Aunque ella considera una mujer, su cromosomas son XO en vez de XX o XY. Ella nació con

(Doctors performed heart surgery one week after birth to repair several holes in her heart. As a result,her lungs did

not work correctly, and she was put on a respirator.)

She needs a tracheotomy to help her breathe because she was born with underdeveloped airway. The

tracheotomy pushes against her vocal chords and inhibit her from making sounds.

(Now she enjoys watching Oswald the Octopus, intently focusing on books, rolling around on the floor, giving high fives, and

especially smiling. She is also just beginning to eat baby food rather than being fed through a G-tube. Her favorite new food is

applesauce.)

(She begins her morning by waking up around 6:30. her mother says that she wakes up slowly like a teenager. She always wakes up with a smile. After breakfast, she spends the rest of her day cuddling, eating in her bouncy chair, and doing some fun time

physical therapy.)

Emily comence su día como despertar alrededor de seis treinta por la mañana. Su

mamá dice que Emily despierta lentamente como un

adolescente. Ella siempre despierta con una sonrisa.

(Emily’s entire family is so proud of all that she has come through. We believe in her and love her so much, and we can not wait to see what else our little miracle baby has in store for us. She has truly shown us to appreciate life, and to smile no matter how tough life

gets.)
