Hey, Oscar,

what's up?

Nothing... you

know, I really like

this girl, and I

want to ask her

out.

So, what's the

problem? Well, what if I

ask her and she

says no?

Conversation

Page 3: Unidad 2 tema 2

Why would

she say no?

Well, maybe if I

were in a band,

she'd go out with

me. Do you want

to start a band?

No. You don't

even play an

instrument. That's

crazy.

Yeah. Well, I think

her last boyfriend

had a really cool

car. Maybe if I had

a nicer car, she'd

say yes.

Page 4: Unidad 2 tema 2

You're lucky to

have a car.

I don't know.

She's really

pretty. If I were

better-looking,

she might say

yes.

You look fine.

You can't worry

about that.

Well, if I had more

money, I could take

her to a really nice

restaurant. Hey,

could I borrow some

money?

Page 5: Unidad 2 tema 2

No way, then

she'd expect you

to take her to

nice restaurants

all the time.

Yeah,

you're right.

Look, maybe if you weren’t

so nervous about it, she'd

say yes. Just be yourself

and ask her out. If she likes

you, she'll go out with you.

Yeah, you're

right. I'll call

her and ask

her out.

In past conditional sentences in which the verb to be appears, the verb tenses “was” or “were” can be used indistinctly. Example: If I was /were rich, I’d buy a yatch. The sentence that introduces the condition is placed at the beginning and it is followed by a coma. Example: If I were you, I´d go.
