Modern zoos put the animals in place that look like their natural environment. Trees and grass grow in the places where they are kept, and people made small rivers or pools inside the zoo. Sometimes some animals are allowed to live together in one area just like they would in nature .Visitors to a modern zoo can look across a small open area and see lions walk about freely as they please.Nearby are birds and animals such as geese and monkeys feeding quietly at a water hole. They are not afraid of the lions because they are separated from the lions by man-made rivers. These rivers are quite wide and deep and are often cleverly hidden with plants. The visitor does not see them.
