Paquete Instructivo para Aplicantes a Visa de Inmigrante
Este Paquete de Cita es para todas las categorías de visa de inmigrante excepto para visas K. Favor léalo
detenidamente y siga los pasos. La versión en inglés de este documento la encuentra en la página 7.
PASO 1 – Envío de documentos
Los siguientes documentos deben ser enviados a este Consulado por DHL ANTES de su entrevista y
SOLO cuando haya recibido la notificación del Consulado indicándole que hemos recibido su caso y
estamos listos para procesar su aplicación. Envíe los siguientes documentos para cada solicitante
en un mismo sobre:
Copia de su pasaporte vigente: Únicamente copia de la hoja biográfica (la primera
hoja de su pasaporte).
Fotos: Dos fotos. Las fotos deben cumplir con los requisitos detallados en la página 6.
Formulario DS-260: Debe completarlo vía electrónica en https://ceac.state.gov y enviar
únicamente la hoja de confirmación. Cada aplicante llena un formulario. Para completarlo,
necesitará su número de caso e Invoice Number. Su número de caso empieza con las letras
GYQ seguido de diez números. Si no conoce su Invoice Number puede solicitarlo al Centro
Nacional de Visas (NVC) vía telefónica al (603) 334-0700 (entre 7:00 a.m. y 12:00 a.m. EST)
Inscripción de Nacimiento: Copia certificada del Registro Civil con sus respectivos sellos.
Revise el muestrario de documentos en la página 13.
Inscripción de Matrimonio: Si el matrimonio se realizó en Ecuador, copia certificada del
Registro Civil con sus respectivos sellos. Si el matrimonio se realizó en otro país, el
documento debe estar certificado por la autoridad gubernamental respectiva. Revise el
muestrario de documentos en la página 14.
Certificado de Divorcio y Defunción: Si usted o el peticionario tienen matrimonios anteriores,
debe presentar la inscripción de matrimonio con la marginación de su divorcio. Revise el
muestrario de documentos en la página 15. Si el divorcio se realizó en otro país, debe presentar
el decreto con los sellos originales de la corte. El Certificado de Defunción debe ser emitido
por el Registro Civil y debe tener su respectivo sello. Revise el muestrario de documentos en la
página 16.
Examen Médico: El listado de nuestros médicos autorizados e información adicional la
encuentra en la página 5.
Certificado de Antecedentes Penales: Únicamente para personas mayores de 18 años.
Disponible en http://ministeriointerior.gob.ec También es requerido de los países donde
haya vivido por más de 1 año, excepto de los Estados Unidos.
Documento de solvencia económica de los Estados Unidos (Affidavit of Support):
Formulario I-864 firmado en original por el peticionario, declaración de impuestos (1040) y
W-2(s) del último año y certificado laboral actual. Si el peticionario declara impuestos con su
cónyuge deberá presentar el formulario I-864A firmado en original. Para información
adicional sobre este requerimiento ingrese aquí. Los formularios antes mencionados pueden
ser descargados en www.uscis.gov/forms

PASO 2 – Registro electrónico
Una vez que tenga listos estos documentos, ingrese a http://ecuador.usvisa-info.com y abra una
cuenta. Siga estas indicaciones:
Haga click en “Crear Cuenta” en la parte superior derecha.
Lea los términos del acuerdo, marque el casillero y haga click en “Confirmar”.
Ingrese su información personal y seleccione “Crear Cuenta”.
Seleccione “Registro para el Servicio de Correo”.
En “Escoger Motivo de Viaje” seleccione “Visas de Inmigrante”, luego “Procesamiento
Administrativo IV” y “Servicio de Mensajería de Documentos (DHL)”.
Seleccione una oficina de DHL.
Imprima su hoja de confirmación. Deberá entregársela a DHL junto con sus documentos.
Diríjase a la oficina de DHL de su elección. Las oficinas en color gris (7 oficinas) son las
únicas que receptan documentos para ser enviados al Consulado sin ningún costo. Las
oficinas restantes receptarán sus documentos pero habrá un costo por el envío y no requerirán
la hoja de confirmación.

PASO 3 – Programación de su cita
Una vez que haya enviado sus documentos por DHL, ingrese a http://ecuador.usvisa-info.com para
programar su cita. Siga estas indicaciones:
Haga click en “Ingresar” en la parte superior derecha.
Lea los términos del acuerdo, marque el casillero y haga click en “Confirmar”.
Ingrese su información personal y haga click en “Ingresar”.
Haga click en “Programar cita”, seleccione “Visas de Inmigrante” y seleccione el tipo de visa
al cual este aplicando. Complete su información personal usando la información de su
pasaporte e incluya su número de caso (por ejemplo GYQ2014123456).
Seleccione una de las 29 oficinas de DHL donde usted desea retirar sus documentos. Este
servicio no tienen ningún costo.
Seleccione la hora y fecha de su entrevista en el calendario que aparecerá y haga click en
“Programar cita”.
Imprima la hoja de confirmación de su cita que le fue enviada al correo electrónico que usted
registro y tráigala el día de su entrevista.
Usted puede también programar una cita vía telefónica contactándose con nuestro Call Center al
04-259-6800 desde el Ecuador o al 1-703-439-2331 desde los Estados Unidos.
Usted puede programar una cita desde el mismo día que envía sus documentos por DHL, sin embargo
la fecha que usted seleccione deberá ser mínimo 10 días después del día en que envió estos
documentos al Consulado.
Haga el registro por usted y todo hijo que este aplicando a la visa. Si usted no cumple con este
requisito ANTES de asistir a su cita habrá retraso en la entrega de su pasaporte.
PASO 4 – Pago de su cita Casos de familiares inmediatos (habiendo ingresado una petición I-130, I-600 o I-800) es
de $325 por cada aplicante.
Casos de peticiones por trabajo (habiendo ingresado una petición I-140) es de $345 por cada
aplicante.
Visas de residencia especiales y auto-peticiones es de $205 por cada aplicante.
Su pago debe efectuarlo en la caja interna del Consulado el día de su cita en efectivo o con tarjeta de
crédito VISA, Mastercard, Discover, Diners Internacional, o American Express. No aceptamos billetes
de USD$100 ni billetes en mal estado.
Si el peticionario ya canceló este valor al NVC, usted no necesita pagar nuevamente.

PASO 5 – Prepararse para su entrevista
Los siguientes documentos deben ser presentados el día de su entrevista:
Pasaporte: Pasaporte vigente y anteriores de cada aplicante. El pasaporte debe estar
válido por lo menos 1 año.
Pruebas de Relación con el Peticionario: Si tiene hijos con el peticionario deberá traer
copia de la Inscripción de Nacimiento de su(s) hijo(s). Si no tiene hijos con el
peticionario, los siguientes documentos pueden servir para demostrar su relación:
Fotografías de usted y el peticionario en sus visitas o viajes realizados.
Traiga las fotos fuera de álbumes y carpetas.
Correspondencia enviada entre usted y el peticionario (cartas, e-mails).
Planillas telefónicas que muestren sus llamadas.
Copia de todas las páginas del pasaporte del peticionario para verificar sus
visitas. Traiga también una copia de la página biográfica del pasaporte del
peticionario.
No es necesario que traiga todos estos documentos. Favor traiga cualquier
tipo de evidencia que usted considere pueda mostrar que tiene una relación
continua con su pareja.
Visas anteriores a los Estados Unidos: Si a usted se le ha emitido una visa de no inmigrante
para los Estados Unidos (por ejemplo, visa de turismo, visa de estudiante, visa de trabajo, etc.)
debe traerla el día de su entrevista.
Copia notarizada de los dos lados de la Tarjeta de Residencia de su Mamá o Papá: Sólo si
la petición es hecha por su padrastro o madrastra ciudadano(a) americano(a).
Usted es responsable de asegurarse que toda la documentación requerida esté disponible en el momento
de la entrevista. Si usted ha entregado previamente estos documentos al Centro Nacional de Visas
(NVC) ya no debe traerlos a su entrevista. De lo contrario, usted debe presentarlos el día de su cita.
Favor NO haga planes de viaje, compre tickets aéreos, venda sus propiedades, o renuncie a su trabajo
hasta que reciba su visa de inmigrante.
EL INCUMPLIMIENTO DE ESTAS INSTRUCCIONES PUEDE RETRASAR
SU SOLICITUD DE VISA O SIGNIFICAR UNA NEGACION DE VISA

Examen Médico
Todos los solicitantes de visa de residencia, no importa la edad ni el sexo, deben realizarse un
examen médico con uno de nuestros médicos autorizados antes de asistir a la entrevista. El
incumplimiento de este requisito ANTES de asistir a la entrevista retrasará el
procesamiento del caso.
Para realizárselo, usted debe contactar a uno de los médicos del listado a continuación y
solicitar una cita para su examen médico. Lleve su pasaporte, seis fotografías y su carnet de
vacunación a su cita médica. El médico le hará saber si alguna vacuna le hace falta. El médico
hará los arreglos necesarios para realizarle una radiografía del tórax, un examen de sangre y un
examen general completo.
Todos los solicitantes entre dos y catorce años de edad se les requerirá realizar una prueba
cutánea de Tuberculina. Los resultados de la prueba tienen que ser examinados por el médico
dentro de un plazo de 48 a 72 horas después de realizado el examen, y en ciertos casos los
niños necesitarán tomarse una radiografía de tórax. Para este procedimiento, estos solicitantes
deberán realizarse el examen médico por lo menos 4 días antes de su entrevista.
Si las pruebas de TB son positivas, se podrá requerir tratamiento antes que el solicitante
pueda recibir su visa. Los solicitantes deben trabajar con el médico para completar todas las
pruebas y tratamientos de TB. Los solicitantes son responsables de los costos que se
generen por la prueba de tuberculosis, los exámenes y su tratamiento.
El médico le entregará los resultados del examen en un sobre cerrado que deberá traerlo el día
de su entrevista.
Todos los costos de este examen serán pagados por el solicitante.
ADULTOS: incluye radiografía del tórax, examen de sangre y examen general completo. El
costo es USD$140. Este costo no incluye vacunas.
NIÑOS: los niños menores de 15 años no necesitan radiografía del tórax, ni examen de sangre
a menos que el doctor lo crea necesario. El costo es USD$70. Este costo no incluye vacunas.

Requisitos de la Foto
La foto es una parte importante en su aplicación a la visa. Su foto debe cumplir con los siguientes
requisitos:
Debe ser de 5x5 cm.
A color
Fondo blanco
Viendo al frente; toda su cara debe ser visible
Las orejas deben ser visibles
Retírese los lentes
No utilice sombrero
Sin sombras en la cara ni en el fondo de la foto
Tomada dentro de los últimos 6 meses
Impresa en papel de calidad fotográfico
Sin pixeles; la foto debe ser de buena calidad y tener buena resolución
Artículos Prohibidos
La Sección Consular ha implementado nuevos procedimientos para agilizar el proceso de entrevista.
Para poder reducir el tiempo que los solicitantes tienen que esperar en fila antes de ser entrevistados, el
Consulado prohibirá el ingreso de aquellas personas que traigan cualquier pertenencia, material u
objeto adicional que no sean los documentos requeridos para aplicar para la visa.
Los solicitantes deberán planificar antes de venir al Consulado para traer únicamente los documentos
requeridos. No se permitirá el ingreso de carteras, bolsos, maletines, mochilas, teléfonos celulares,
cigarrillos, encendedores, fósforos, alimentos ni bebidas, cámaras fotográficas o de video, radios,
computadoras, cortaúñas, tijeras, ni armas.
Artículos para asistencia de bebés serán aceptados.

Informational Package for Immigrant Visa Applicants
This informational package is for all immigrant visa categories except K visas. Please read it carefully
and follow the steps.
STEP 1 – Delivery of documents
The following documents must be sent to this Consulate through DHL BEFORE your interview date
and ONLY when this Consulate has confirmed to have received your case and is ready to process your
visa application. Make a package of the following documents for each visa applicant:
Photocopy of valid passport: Only a copy of the biographical page (the first page in your
passport).
Pictures: Two pictures. The pictures must meet the requirements listed in page 12.
DS-160 Form: Must be filled out online at https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/ You must print and
send the confirmation page only. Each applicant must complete an individual form.
Birth Certificate: Certified hand-written document from the Civil Registry with the official
seals. Check our document sample library in page 13.
Marriage Certificate: If the marriage took place in Ecuador, a certified hand-written document
from the Civil Registry with the official seals. If the marriage took place in another country,
the marriage certificate must be certified by the appropriate government authority. Check our
document sample library in page 14.
Divorce and Death Certificate: If you or the petitioner have previous marriages, you must
submit the marriage certificate that is a direct copy of the hand-written record book of the Civil
Registry and must have their official seal. Check our document sample library in page 15. If
they were executed in another country, bring the divorce decree with the court’s original stamp.
Death certificates (if applicable) must be issued by the Civil Registry Office and must have
their official seal. Check our document sample library in page 16.
Medical Examination: The list of our panel physicians and all the information pertaining to
the medical examination can be found in page 11.
Police Certificate: Only available for people over the age of 18. Available at
www.ministeriodelinterior.gob.ec It is also required from countries of previous residence if
residency was for more than one year, except for the United States.
Evidence of Financial Stability from the United States (Affidavit of Support): Form I-864
with original signature from the petitioner, last income tax report (1040) and W-2(s) and a
recently issued job letter. If the petitioner declares taxes with any household member he/she
must complete Form I-864A with original signature. For additional information on this
requirement click here. All the above mentioned Forms can be downloaded at
www.uscis.gov/forms
STEP 2 – Electronic registration
Once you have these documents ready, access http://ecuador.usvisa-info.com and create an account.
Follow these instructions:

Click on “Create Account” in the upper right corner of this website.
Read the disclaimer, check the box and then click on “Confirm.”
Input your personal information and then click on “Create Account.”
Select “Register for Courier Service.”
On “Select Trip Purpose” select “Immigrant Visas”, then on “IV Administrative Processing”
and “Courier In Documents Service (DHL).”
Choose a DHL location.
Print your confirmation page. You must give it to DHL along with your documents.
Visit the DHL office you selected. The offices grayed out (7 offices) are the only ones that
accept documents to be sent to this Consulate at no cost. The remaining offices will accept
your documents however there is a fee associated for the delivery of your documentation and
will not require the confirmation page.
Complete the electronic registration for every person applying for a visa. Failure to comply with this
requirement PRIOR attending your interview will delay the return of your passport

STEP 3 – Appointment Scheduling
Once you have submitted your documents through DHL, access http://ecuador.usvisa-info.com to
schedule your appointment. Follow these instructions:
Click on “Log In” in the upper right corner of this website.
Read the disclaimer, check the box and then click on “Confirm.”
Input your personal information and then click on “Log In.”
Select “Schedule Appointment”, select “Immigrant Visas” and select the type of visa you are
applying for. Input your personal information as it appears on your passport and input your
case number (i.e. GYQ2010123456).
Choose a DHL office where you would like to retrieve your documents. This service is cost-
free.
Select the time and date for your interview from the calendar displayed on screen and click on
“Schedule Appointment.”
Print the appointment confirmation page sent to your registered e-mail address and bring it to
your interview date.
You may schedule your appointment at any time from the date you submit your documents through
DHL however the appointment date you select must at the minimum be 10 days after the date you
submitted your documents to this Consulate.
STEP 4 – Visa Processing Fee
Immediate relative and family preference cases (processed on the basis of an I-130, I-600 or I-800
petition) is USD$325 for each applicant.
Employment-based cases (processed on the basis of an I-140 petition) is USD$345 for each applicant.
Special immigrant visas and and self-petitioned cases is USD$205 for each applicant.
These fees must be paid at the U.S. Consulate on your appointment date. You may pay with cash or
credit card VISA, Mastercard, Discover, Diners International, or American Express. We do not accept
USD$100 bills, nor exceedingly worn or ripped currency.
If the petitioner already paid this fee to the NVC, you do not need to pay again.

STEP 5 – Interview Preparation
The following documents must be presented on your interview date:
Passport: Valid passport and all previous passports for each applicant. The passport
must be valid for at least 1 year.
Evidence of Relationship: If you and the petitioner have children, you must bring
their birth certificates. If you do not have children, the following documents may help
to demonstrate your relationship:
Pictures from your visits or travels together. Bring those pictures out
of photo albums and folders.
Exchanged correspondence between you and the petitioner (letters, e-mails).
Phone bills listing your communications.
Photocopy of all pages of the petitioner’s passport to verify his/her visits. Bring
also a photocopy of the biographical page of the petitioner’s passport.
It is not completely required to bring all this documentation. Please bring any
type of evidence that you consider would demonstrate you have a bona-fide
relationship with your couple.
U.S. visas previously issued: If you have obtained any type of U.S. non-immigrant visa (for
example, tourist visas, student visas, work visas, etc.) you must bring those with you to your
interview.
Notarized copy of both sides of the Resident Alien Card of your mother/father if the petition
is filed by your step-parent.
You are responsible for ensuring that all required documents are available at the time of the interview.
If you have previously submitted all the required documents to the National Visa Center (NVC) you
don’t need to bring them to your interview. Otherwise, you must acquire all these documents for your
visa interview.

Medical Examination
All immigrant visa applicants, regardless of age or gender, must complete (schedule and attend)
their medical examinations with authorized physicians before their scheduled interview dates.
Failure to comply with this requirement PRIOR attending the visa interview will delay the
processing of the case.
To get a medical exam, you should contact one of the doctors listed below to arrange an
appointment for your medical exam. Take your passport, six regulation photographs and any
vaccination certificates to your medical appointment. The doctor will notify the applicant if he/she
is missing any immunizations and what steps to take. The doctor will make the necessary
arrangements to perform a chest x-ray, blood test and general health exam.
All applicants between two and 14 years of age will be required to take a tuberculin skin test (PPD
test) at least four days prior to their immigrant visa appointment. The PPD test results must be
reviewed by the panel physician 48-72 hours after the skin test’s administration, and in some cases
children may need follow-up chest X-rays. As a result, these applicants should plan to have their
medical exam at least four days prior to their interview.
If the tests are positive for TB, they may require treatment before the applicant is eligible for a visa.
Applicants must work with the panel physician to complete all tests and TB treatments; applicants
are responsible for paying all costs related to TB testing, examinations, and treatment.
After the examination, the doctor will provide a sealed envelope containing the medical exams.
You must bring this sealed envelope to your visa interview.
All medical exam expenses are paid for by the applicant.
ADULTS: The cost for the medical exam, including chest x-ray, blood tests and general health
exam, is USD$140. This cost does not include immunizations, if necessary.
CHILDREN: Children under the age of 15 do not need chest x-rays or blood tests unless directed
by the doctor. The cost for children's medical exams is USD$70. This cost does not include
immunizations, if necessary.

Photograph Requirements
Your photo is an important part of your visa application. Your photo must meet the following
requirements:
Must be 2 inches by 2 inches
In color
White background
Facing the camera; full face must be visible
Ears must be visible
Take off your glasses
Do not wear a hat
No shadows on your face or background of the image
Taken within the last 6 months
Printed on a photo quality paper
No pixels in the image; photo must have good quality and resolution
Prohibited Items
The Consular Section is implementing new security procedures to speed interview processing. In
order to minimize the amount of time applicants have to wait in line before their interview; the U.S.
Consulate General will prohibit applicants from entering the building with anything other than the
documents they need for their application.
Applicants should make arrangements before coming to the U.S. Consulate General, so that the only
things they have with them when they arrive are their documents. Purses, bags, suitcases, backpacks,
cellular phones, cigarettes, lighters, matches, food or beverages, photographic or video devices, radios,
computers, nail trimmers, scissors and weapons will not be permitted to be entered to this Consulate.
Limited baby supplies will still be admitted.

NOTA: Si no pudo conseguir una copia certificada del Registro Civil porque los libros están
extraviados o han sufrido algún daño, usted debe traer una carta de la Oficina del Registro Civil de
su ciudad que detalle las razones por las que no pudieron certificarle una copia. Deberá además
traer una copia certificada de su inscripción de nacimiento/divorcio de los Registros Nacionales de
la oficina principal del Registro Civil en Quito.
NOTE: If you are not able to get a direct copy from the Civil Registry because the books are lost or
have suffered any damage you must bring a letter from your local Civil Registry office including the
reasons why they couldn’t provide you a direct copy. You must also bring a direct copy of your
birth/marriage/divorce certificate from the National Files’ books from the Civil Registry’s main
office in Quito.
