Avatar Design By Zeenath Haniff Internet Addiction By Irene Lopez Computers have evolved immensely in the past ten years, and as the Internet has become common in most American households, other countries like China and South Korea have broadband speeds that surpass the U.S., thus why there are more Internet addicts in such areas. The controversy about Internet addiction has been that it is a behavioral or natural disorder rather than a chemical disorder and may be affected by self‐ esteem issues. The root cause? Computer ‐ mediated communication, such as social networking sites, is possibly causing some people to become more depressed and lonely, and is making people more susceptible to becoming an Internet addict. So ask yourself, is social media your Internet addiction?
