This is my final project in Architecture studying. When reviewing the current urban planning reality, in context of building rights and additions, an immediate factor that draws attention is a strict and generic planning system, which in its core, doesn’t consider urban characteristics and undermines the natural urban development. This raises the question on which the project attempts to answer - “How to plan architectural additions to an existing urban fabric?”, while integrating in areas of high historic preservation values. The vision was to develop a new method for addition planning, that has a comprehensive approach but also particular, which holds in high densities. The planning consists of several stages: first, a localized, flexible system of parameters, which determines the volume to add. Second, initial design of volume distribution in each lot, and finally, developing the design guidelines. “Musrara” was chosen as a case study for this method due to its unique charm.
