SWOT Analysis of Thailand Truck & Bus Automotive Industry

Strength 1. High skill labor 2. Competitive in geographical area 3. Government policy 4. Emission and Safety Standard higher than Malaysia,

Indonesia 5. Strength in Body, Interior, Stamping Parts, Mirror

Weakness 1. Limited market demand for auto-parts and CBU

investment and economy of scale 2. Limited know-how transfer 3. Trend of lacking skilled labor in future

Opportunity 1. AEC 2015 increase free flow of products, labor, trade

and investment, and in particular the logistics across -border among ASEAN countries.

Threat 1. Higher standard resulted in higher cost and technology 2. Increasing of competition from low-cost competitor e.g.

China, etc. from zero import duty effective from FTA, AFTA.

3. Import duty of some items of raw material and CKD is still higher than CBU imported from some countries.
