On Dec 29, 2019 Sunday, Poorva Vidyarthi Parishat (PVP) committees of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh conducted a Poorva Vidyarthi Maha Sammelan for the alumni of Sri Saraswathi Vidyapeetham in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. A total of approximately 16,000 and many VIPs participated in the event and made it a grand success. Paramapoojaneeya Sarsanghachalak Of RSS Mananeeya Dr Mohan Bhagawat ji was the chief guest on this occasion and addressed the gathering with his words of wisdom. He inspired many young people with his thoughts and appealed all the alumni to work towards the unity of India.

Minister of State for Home Affairs,Shri G Kishan Reddy was alsopresent in this event as a guestspeaker and inspired all the alumniwith his nationalistic thoughts.

Rashtra Sevika Samiti nationalgeneral Secretary Smt. Seethakka,was also present. She is also analumni of Vidya Bharti .

Representatives from allprantha poorva chatra parishatcommittees were also present in thisevent as guests. Total of 150

participants from 40 pranthas werepresent in this event.

This event was registered inWonder Book of Records and RoyalSuccess International as the biggestalumni event that has happened as ontoday. They have issued a certificate inthis regard.

We have also applied toGuinness Book of World records andLimca Book of Records to register thisevent as the biggest alumni event. Theyare yet to issue the certificate.

18th All India Mathematics-Science Fair ConcludesIn Kanpur

The 18th All India Mathematic-Science Fair was held in Kanpur from30th November to 4th December.

A total of 822 students,from all the 11 zones,participated in this annualevent. These students werefrom three groups – a) Bal Vargfor students of class 6 to 8; b)Kishore Varg for students ofclass 9 and 10, and c) TarunVarg for students of class 11and 12.

There were 298models of Mathematics andScience, prepared by thestudents, on display in thefair.

Competitions in 29categories were held in eachof the three groups amongthe students coming from all

13th National Educational Seminar Held In Odisha

The present centurywitnesses the prevalence of thecomplex weave of interconnectedcommunities which demandseducating the coming generationsfor global citizenship to meet all itschallenges. With a purpose ofinculcating values, ethics, socialresponsibility, civic engagementamong the global citizens and toenable them to face the globalhazards for a sustainable peaceful& inclusive society, a two daysNational Seminar on “Educating forGlobal Citizenship: Issues inCurriculum, Learning andAssessment” was organized byShiksha Vikash Samiti, Odisha on23rd & 24th November 2019 atSaraswati Vidya Mandir,Gatiroutpatna, Cuttack. Realizing the relevance of thetopic as many as 121 learneddelegates from various parts of thecountry registered for deliberationand participation and 77 selectedpapers were presented in threeparallel technical sessions.

All the esteemedguests were introducedby Dr. S.K. Hati, theconvener of NationalSeminar. He explainedthe purpose & theme ofthe seminar in hiswelcome address. Thedignitaries werefelicitated by Prof.B.K.Panda, Vice-President, SVS with

Shreephal & Uttariya. The book entitled‘Learning Outcomes at School Stage:Theory and Practice’ based on theprecedings of the last year seminar,was unveiled by the guests. Dr. TarulataDevi one of the editors put forth a briefdescription about the book.

In the inaugural address Prof.Dr. Ishan Patro, V.C. of RavenshawUniversity, as the chief guest ofoccasion, focused on the burning,issues of 21st century global society,with reference to philosophical, spiritualand scientific standpoint and he wasvery pragmatic and hopeful for thepeaceful existence of upcominggenerations.

Prof. Rabindra RamchandraKanhare, Pro-V.C. of IGNOU & Vice-President of Vidya Bharati, as the chiefspeaker of the Inaugural session,deliberated various challenges ofenvironmental issues, human rights,and sustainable development on globalperspectives.

Prof Nityananda Pradhan,Principal RIE, Bhopal in his keynoteaddress, highlighted the key thematic

areas of global citizenship educationfocusing on curriculum, approaches,research evidences & strategies forpreparing teachers to educate forglobal citizenship.

The session came to an endwith the multilingual presidentialaddress by Prof. Dr. Basant KumarPanda, Vice President of SVS,Odisha. He enlightened the housewith the configuration of Indiantraditions, cultures, values, ethics &wish for a inclusive sustainablesociety. A formal vote of thanks wasgiven by Dr. Sidhanath Sahoo,coordinator of the seminar.

After the lunch break the 1sttechnical session began with theProf. Dr. N. Pradhan as chair, Dr.Latika Mishra, Asst. Director IGNOUas co-chair & Dr. S.P. Mohanty, Asso.Prof. Dept. of Education, R.D.University and Sravan Bag, Asst.Prof., G.M.University, Sambalpur asrapporteur. Around 11 papers werepresented by the participants.

Simultaneously in a paralleltechnical session 8 papers werepresented with Dr. Kishore ChandraMohanty, Mantri, Vidya Bharati aschairperson, Dr. Tarulata Devi, Asso.Prof. as co-chair & Dr. JagyaseniPanigrahi, Asst Lect. in Education,Chhatrapur Women’s college asrapporteur. The first day seminar wasclosed with a formal vote of thanksby Dr. Krupasindhu Karan, Asso.Professor.

In the evening session, aworkshop on school-basedevaluation was initiated by Prof. N.Pradhan. In the brain stormingprocess, all 73 resource persons and

participants deliberated their views,opinions on the positive and negativeaspects of external and internal basedevaluation system.

On the second day two parallelsessions continued.

The two days long seminar cameto close with valedictory sessionchaired by Dr. Binayak Das, President,SVS, Odisha. The guest introductionwas given by Dr. Latika Mishra followedby the presentation of seminar reportby Dr. T. Devi. The observation &opinions of the entire seminarproceedings was highlighted with greatappreciation by Dr. Golak Bihari Giri,Rtd. Asso. Prof. of Delanga College,Puri, Dr. Ashok Mohanty, Principal,SVM, Damonjodi, Harish KumarPandey, Acharya, Jharkhand.

Prof. P.C.Agarwal, Principal, RIE,Bhubaneswar as Hon’ble Guest in hisvaledictory address focused on majorglobal challenges of human rights,pollution, inequality etc, andemphasized on unity in diversities inmulti-cultural environment. Dr. Kanhareas Hon’ble speaker focused on thesustainable development goals in theglobal agenda. Dr. K.C.Mohanty asHon’ble guest addressed thetheoretical & practical implementationof global citizenship education of 21st.century. Dr. Binayak Das in hispresidential address highlighted onIndian perspective of integrating theglobal citizenship education in presenteducational scenario. At the end of thevaledictory session, certificates ofparticipation & paper presentation weredistributed by the guests and a formalvote of thanks was proposed by Dr.S.K.Hati, convener of the seminar.

"Vidya Bharati Alumni In Social Service"Four Students, Four Friends, One NGO And Power Of

1 Rupee Per Day

Shikhar Maywad is analumnus of S.S.V.M Betul,MP. In 2016 afterhe passed his 10thexamination, he and three ofhis closest friends went ondifferent paths chasing theirindividual goals, but apartfrom their friendship, onemore thing kept them closeand that was their common aim ofgiving back to the society. 

In the year 2017 Shikhar, alongwith his friends came up with a veryunique idea through which studentscan contribute towards varioussocial causes. They founded an NGOnamed ‘Srijan Ek Soch’ and got itformally registered on 2nd October2019. Through this NGO they raisedawareness among the students ofnearby schools and colleges on theimportance of social service andurged them to donate 1 rupee eachday towards the social welfare. Themovement gained momentum andsoon they were able to collect

a considerable amount  each month.The also started collecting fundsduring special events and festivals.The number of members in the groupalso grew from four to forty within avery short period of time. 

The group utilizes  the donatedamount in several different kinds of social work like providing assistanceto old age homes, orphanages, helpingchildren with education, distributingwinter clothes among the needy etc.The members also collect old booksfrom various places around the city,recondition them if necessary andprovide them to students in need.  

The members make it a point tohelp at least 1 person each day whichhas enabled them to help more than900 beneficiaries over the last 3 years.

According to Shikhar, the mainaim of starting the organisation was toshow people that one can help others,

Social Activist, Journalist, Poet - Multiple AwardWinner,Tara Chettur Menon Is A Woman On A Mission

Tara Chettur Menon , analumna of Vyasa Vidhya PeethomKalekkad, Palakkad, Kerala, is awoman possessing a fearlessattitude both in her professional life,as well as her personal beliefs. Witha masters degree in journalism fromthe Makhanlal Chaturvedi NationalUniversity of Journalism andCommunication, Tara started hercareer as a journalist in 2004 with StarNews, Mumbai and later continued towork in several well known mediahouses across India.

Her articles were published inrecognized newspapers, such as The Pioneer, Central Chronicle,Indian Express etc. In 2005 sherelocated to Dubai, where shefreelanced for local magazines andworked with media department in anImmigration ManagementConsultancy firm. On returning toIndia in 2012, she joined centralIndia’s largest-selling English dailynewspaper ‘Hitavada’.

Tara’s work reflects her passionfor voicing the concerns of thedowntrodden as her articles mostlydeals with subjects such as

environment, wildlife, women, Tribalrights, human rights children andmarginalized groups. 

Her work in the social sectorhas won her numerous awards andfellowships such as:# Laadli media National ward# Maja Koene social justice award# Fellowship with Centre for scienceand environment for her environmentalreport writing. # Felicitation by Madhya PradeshBiodiversity Department, Child line,Lions club, Rotary club etc # Felicitation from child rightsorganizations working at national level 

Apart from her workcommitments , Tara is also associated

no matter their social or financialstatus at any stage of life. If a groupof students can help to make positivechanges in the society with theirlimited resources, anyone can do thesame. One has to only possess

positive intention along with strong willpower. He further elaborates that beinginvolved with organisations such as‘Srijan Ek Soch’, helps children todevelop a sense of social responsibilityfrom an early age.

with many non governmentorganizations who are involved withsocial work in the field of womenempowerment, child rights andworking against crime against womenand children. She regularlyparticipates in national andinternational forums to give voice tothose whose concerns are generallyoverlooked by mainstream media.

When asked about her take onthe topic of ‘Women empowerment’,Tara believes that although the effortsmade by both the governmental andnongovernmental organisations aretrading the right path, but due to thevastness of the subject, consistenteffort is needed to strengthen legallaws without which she feels all effortscan become futile.  She furtherclarifies that no matter on whichsubject policies are being drawn, it iscrucial that the view of that group istaken into consideration.Along with her fierce attitude, Taraposes an artistic soul.
