Community & Sustainability
Valterra has been pro‐active in engaging with stakeholders and communities
The Discovery Zone is on private/patented land; hence permits not required to explore or drill
Drill permits secured for the Discovery Zone. New zones can be tested via “scout” drills which
requires no permitting
Aim is to hire locally & focus expenditures that support local families & businesses
Goal is to conduct sustainable & temporary land‐use plans/operations

MICROSCOPIC IMAGE OF GRAPHITE FLAKES (IN RED ‐ UP TO 0.8MMSHOWN) WITH NON‐SULPHIDE GANGUE (NSG) ATTACHMENTS.
High‐Grade• 34% Cg graphite head grade in 2012 metallurgical testing
• 2012‐13 grab samples ranging from 8.7% to 69.1% Cg
Premium Flakes & High Purity Significant metallurgy results from +20kg grab sample:
• 99.97% C returned via leach/LOI as ultra‐high‐purity, fine‐flake graphite concentrate (‐150 mesh or <0.105mm) which totaled 55.9% of the concentrate.
• 94.9% C returned via LOI as large & jumbo flake concentrate (+80 mesh or >0.178mm) which equaled 31.7% of the concentrate.
• 96.3% C returned via LOI as medium flake (‐80 to +150 mesh) which totaled 12.4% of the concentrate.
• Combined Concentrate Grades = 93.1% C by LOI, and the Recovery = 93.3%.
The total concentrate ranges demonstrate a very high purity & marketable product
Metallurgy
* Loss on Ignition (LOI) – A sample of known mass is ignited, volatiles escape over time until the mass ceases to change. The sample is then cooled in a controlled environment and the mass is re‐determined; the difference in the mass is thus termed the “LOI”. ** LECO Infrared Combustion Analysis = For Cg (graphitic carbon) samples are roasted at 550o C then mixed with nitric acid and de‐ionized water, then digested and filtered. The filtered residue is mixed with metal accelerators and placed in the LECO System where the residual carbon is assayed as Cg.

Graphite and diamonds are the only two naturally formed polymersof carbon. Graphite’s an excellent conductor of heat & electricity &has the highest natural strength and stiffness of any material(maintains strength + stability to >3,600°C) & resists chemical attack.
Graphite is used for steel industry (liner applications), and as anagent to increase the carbon content of steel. Autos (hybridbatteries, brake linings, gaskets and clutch materials). As well as auses in lubricants, fire retardants, and plastics.
Industrial Demand has been growing at about 5%/year due mainly togrowth in emerging economies such as China and India. The “bluesky” is in ‘green’ applications ‐ Li ion batteries, fuel cells, solarenergy, semi conductors, and nuclear energy.
The Graphite Market >1MT/year (same as Ni market) of which 60%is amorphous and 40% flake. Only flake graphite which can beupgraded to 99.9% purity is suitable for Li ion batteries.
