Wr s. Franklin D. Roosevelt 29 Washington Square New York, ll. Y.
My dear Mrs . Roosevelt :
October 3, 1945
The Executive Committee of the Wi.ltwyck School met yesterday afternoon at the apartment of Urs. Lash and discussed in some detail the program for the meeting of October 13. I am sure you will share our satisfaction that we are going to have a large attendance . 'lie are grateful, indeed, to you for helping to assure us on that point.
I am going to presume upon your interest i n the school and particularl y in your appreciation of Dr . Yax Winsor to ask you to speak at the dedication of the buil ding which we are going to name for him. This ceremony is scheduled for 4:30p. m. , following the Board meeting. We are asking Dr . Tobias to speak on 'Ghat Dr. Winsor meant to the Harlem community and Wr. Cooper will tell wha t Dr. Winsor meant to him as a young social worker. We 11ould call on you first. I will open the service with very brief introductory remarks and close it with a formal but simple statement, naming the house i n the name of Dr . Winsor.
It was Judge Polier•s thought that possibl y you would want to gather your t alk around "What a person like Dr. Winsor means to Board members and members o!' the community. n You are, of course, free to choose any subject you wish and treat it in any way you wish.
Assuring you of my keen personal interest in the program as outlined a nd my gratitude for your part i cipation in it all, I am
Sincerely yours,
~e ..... -z.'-Eugene C. Carder
