LVR:•„verantwortlicher Pilot“: die für die Sicherheit und den Betrieb des Luftfahrzeuges während dessen Betriebsdauer verantwortliche Person

– hat den Anordnungen der Flugverkehrskontrollstellen Folge zu leisten– hat die luftfahrtrechtlichen Vorschriften einzuhalten– hat sich vor Beginn des Fluges mit allen zur Verfügung stehenden

Unterlagen vertraut zu machen– sorgfältiges Studium der Luftfahrtinformationen und Wettermeldungen– Ausweichmaßnahmen, wenn ein Flug nicht in der vorgesehenen Weise

durchgeführt werden kann– alle Insassen ... haben den Anweisungen des Piloten Folge zu leisten

ICAO Annex 1, Annex 2:•„Pilot-in-command“: The pilot designated by the operator, or in the case of general aviation, the owner, as being in command and charged with the safe conduct of the flight.

– shall, whether manipulating the controls or not, be responsible for the operation of the aircraft in accordance with the rules of the air

– shall become familiar with all available information– careful study of available currentweather reports and forecasts, taking into

account fuel requirements and an alternative course of action if the flight cannot be completed as planned

– shall have final authority as to the disposition of the aircraft while in command

ICAO Annex 6:•„Pilot-in-command“

– shall not commence a flight unless it has been ascertained by every reasonable means available that the ... facilities available and directly required ... are adequate

– shall ensure that crew members and passengers are made familiar by means of a briefing with the location and the use of [emergency equipment]

– shall not commence a flight until [he] is satisfied that ... the aeroplane is airworthy ...

– shall be familiar with all available meteorological information ...

Tokyo-Convention:•1. The aircraft commander may, when he has reasonable grounds to believe that a person has committed, or is about to commit, on board the aircraft, an offence or act contemplated in Article 1, paragraph 1, impose upon such person reasonable measures including restraint which are necessary:

(a) to protect the safety of the aircraft, or of persons or property therein; or

(b) to maintain good order and discipline on board; or

(c) to enable him to deliver such person to competent authorities or to disembark him in accordance with the provisions of this Chapter.•2. The aircraft commander may require or authorize the assistance of other crew members and may request or authorize, but not require, the assistance of passengers to restrain any person whom he is entitled to restrain.

AIRMANSHIP

• “Airmanship”: the complex of all resources enabling the pilot safely to handle his aircraft with due regard to rules and regulations and good aviation practice, whatever the circumstances, both on the ground and in the air

• "Airmanship can be defined as:– A sound acquaintance with the principles of flight,– The ability to operate an aeroplane with competence and

precision [...], and– The exercise of sound judgment that results in operational

safety and efficiency• The three fundamental principles of expert airmanship are skill,

proficiency, and the discipline to apply them in a safe and efficient manner.“
