I completely understand a parent’s desire to help their children thrive with their health. It is a scary world out there and the amount if misinformation is overwhelming.

I want your mind to be put to ease when it comes to using Essential Oils with your children because they are safe, effective, and you are able to control the amount in each application.

So why dōTERRA®? This is probably the question I get asked most often when sharing Essential Oils because there are so many brands on the market, but…

NOT ALL OILS ARE CREATED EQUALLY!

One of the reasons I chose dōTERRA® is because of their Cō-Impact Sourcing®. dōTERRA® sources its oils from all over the world so that each oil is derived from its indigenous environment. There are three ways to use essential oils:

1.) TopicallyWhen you apply your oils to areas of the body that need support, they reach the bloodstream within 20 seconds and are then distributed throughout the body within 20 minutes. It's best to dilute the oils in fractionated coconut oil to avoid skin sensitivity and ALWAYS dilute for children.The bottoms of the feet are a great place to apply the oils as it's the most porous section of the skin allowing for quick absorption. You can also apply on the back of the neck or along the spine.

2.) AromaticallyPut a drop in the palm of your hands, cup your hands to your nose and inhale -WOW!!!!

Diffusing is also a great way to get benefits from the oils. They can support respiratory functions and enhance moods.

3.) Internally

dōTERRA® is the ONLY brand of oil I would trust to use internally. Please do not assume it is okay to use any brand of oil internally as purity varies greatly. If safe for consumption, the bottle will clearly be labelled if it is approved for internal use. Once you are assured of quality, you can add one drop to your water or tea. I like any of the citrus oils for this as it helps me drink my daily recommendation of water.

I always remind parents that Essential Oils are not new or novel. They have been in existence for thousands of years and have been health supporting agents for our ancestor’s ancestors!!! Essential oils contain constituents that will be recognized by our body systems and handled appropriately. Rest assured that if you use essential oils on your children, you’re not inventing the wheel.

One thing you should always consider is that kid’s skin is not the same as adult skin because it is usually thinner and more sensitive. Although most dōTERRA® oils are non-irritating to the skin, it is still a good idea to dilute them in a good carrier oil before applying to children.

(It is also recommended to apply oils to the bottom of the feet feet where the skin is the thickest.)

Parents always ask me for strategies to help wake their kiddos up in the morning so that they are not late for school. I have a protocol that I recommend for parents to either diffuse or apply topically on pulse points, bottoms of the feet, or the back of the neck.

It is called ‘ENERGIZE YOUR MORNING’ and it consists of the following dōTERRA® protocol:

-Citrus Bliss -Elevation-Balance-Peppermint-Wild Orange-OnGuard

I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what I refer to as a ‘GET OUT OF BED’ blend consisting of Peppermint and Wild Orange. You can put this blend in a roll-on bottle and then gently roll it on their wrists and back to wake them up for the day!

I know I mentioned this before, but our children tend to be overstimulated because of the many activities and distractions that exist in their lives.

Parents are always looking for ways to help their kiddos focus and here are some ideas that will help:

-Eat breakfast-Make sure they are packed the night before-Make time for play and physical activities-Be social-Use specific Essential Oils!

The perfect dōTERRA® oils to support your children with staying focused include:

Parents should either diffuse or apply topically on pulse points, bottoms of the feet, or the back of the neck.

I know you love your children, but we are in a safe environment right now so comment below with your favorite emoji if your child has ever made you want to pull the hair out of your head because they would not CALM DOWN!?!?!

dōTERRA®’s Calming Blend is exactly what you need in situations like this because you can add it to the bath tub, diffuse it in their room before bedtime, or apply it to their back or feet before school.

You can also consider Lavender oil or the Balance blend and apply either of these to their pillow which will have them resting in minutes.

KIDS NEED TO SLEEP!

Sorry for the caps lock but I just want to emphasize this because far too many children are overstimulated, overworked and are neglecting what allows their body to grow and stay healthy.

I always recommend the following to parents:

-Have a bedtime routine-Calculate 8-10 resting hours and make sure your child gets this-Get your child moving during the day-Proper nutrition is a must - limit sugar and get rid of processed foods!

My four favorite oils to support children when it comes time for bed are:

-Lavender-Vetiver-Marjoram-Serenity Blend

Healthy bodies lead to healthy minds and this is extremely true for our youth. This is why I encourage parents to get rid of the products they used that are filled with toxins and either create their own cleaning and beauty products or even consider the entire dōTERRA® OnGuard® line.

When children suffer, it is the worst! Even if they only have a scratch on their leg or a bruise on their arm, parents often experience this pain with their child.

A protocol that I highly recommend to support your child in their time of need is the following:

-1-2 drop geranium-3-4 drops rosemary-1-2 drops lavender-2 washcloths-2 non-reactive bowls

Directions:

-One bowl should be hot water and the other should be cold-Add the above ingredients to each bowl and then soak the washcloth-Alternate between hot and cold on the bruised area

I bet you love when you kids come home with their sweaty soccer cleats and they leave them in your dining room.

I have the perfect blend for you which eliminates odors and you can diffuse this minutes before your kids get home to prevent the nasty child sweat from infiltrating your home.

-2 drops lemon essential oil-1 drop melaleuca essential oil-1 drop cilantro essential oil-1 drop lime essential oil

I get asked on a regular basis for ways to help their child when seasons are changing and their immune system is compromised. I always recommend having oils diffusing in the home because the benefits are far and wide and often unexpected, but to specifically help with seasons support, try this wonderful protocol:

-2 drops lavender essential oil-2 drops lemon essential oil-2 drops peppermint essential oil

If you want to be the coolest parent on the block, then you must diffuse the candy store protocol consisting of 2 drops wild orange and 2 drops wintergreen.

Kids will start flocking to your home because the aroma is simply overwhelming, but if you are not someone who enjoys regular playdates then you might want to pass on this powerful concoction!

You never know where your children will put their hands or when they will clean them.

This is why I recommended that ALL parents make their own dōTERRA® On Guard® hand cleansing spray so that you can create your own harmless (and very convenient) hand sanitizer:

-20 drops dōTERRA® On Guard Protective Blend-4 ounce spray bottle, glass -1 tablespoon aloe vera gel-Water

Earn some brownie points for your son and/or daughter by giving the gift of Essential Oils to their teacher! This one might be more for you than for your kiddos, but when your children come home from a playdate and they have grass stains on their brand new jeans and grape juice on their brand new white shirt, you are going to need something to do the trick.

I call this protocol the ‘Ultimate Stain Remover’ and it is very easy to make and void of any toxins.

Simply combine ½ white vinegar and 20 drops of dōTERRA® lemon Essential Oil into an 8-ounce glass spray bottle and you are set!

One spray on clothing and it’s back to new!

I think I just got your son/daughter out of trouble for coming home dirty!!!!!

Apply dōTERRA® black pepper to the bottom of your child’s feet after a mid-day snooze for a stimulating wakeup.
